9800GX2 first contact :)

Hi Guys:)


I had a little time today to test my new XFX 9800GX2. I realy love this card. its so easy to deal with :)

The 174.53 drivers are slow in CH, you should have about 330fps, use 173.67 ;). I've had the same problem: 101333.

i know...i am just getting to know the card;) with better cooling comes tweaking.

Mark# no..i dont have an extra. But i will compare to 2 x 9800GTX next week. My NQ is one of the first revs....very powerfull actely.new ones not so good. it handles 2 ultras like nothing. BUT...for GX2 x 2 i will use a zalman 850w together with the NQ. also....i dont think 2 x GX2 will be good for 01, since it have to run on vista. for 01 i believe that 2 x 9800GTX will be a good choice.

Thx my friend:) no mods yet......stock volts and stock cooling :) but as you see, i had to slow down the clocks a lot for other 3d apps. this card clocks very good. but also gets hot very fast. thats why i could run it so high in 01, course its only 1 test at the time :)

i cant wait to try this CPU on LN2. i went through 06 5100mhz 1.72v on the VAPo last night (4 cores) looks promising for better cooling :)

Ohhh I forgot... Still no XP driver for quadsli? :( That really sucks..

Im reading and reading - Need all advice I can get regarding coldbug on 9800GX2... I dont have any on my way yet, sadly.. (Long story, promises werent kept by a certain company..)

But Im strongly considering postponing 9800GX2 results a week - plan was 29th... but PiFast, 1M, 32M, PCMark will be main concern, and kinda expect that will take time...
A bit off topic, hope you dont mind... Do you know if ICH10 can handle alot more data on SATA's ? One wont benefit from more then 3x I-ram on ICH9, but... With ICH10... Will lets say 4-6x benefit??? I-ram wont be what we use for upcomming session though..

A little 01 update with better driver, and little more tweaks :)
