The first one ( just like the P5K Deluxe & P5K3 Deluxe ) will have a SATA Ports issue with the new 8800GTS's 512MB, you'll have to sacrifice 2 SATA ports due to the "stupid" coolers' plastic casing.
The P5Q-D looks way better, and I wonder which LSI chip is on it :D

As i see in your sig, you have Striker II Formula. That makes me think that you haven't assembled any PC by yourself, because your motherboard clearly states Foxconn on ethernet/usb connectors. Not to mention about internal connectors and slots.

P5Q-D has PCB layout of P5K-Dlx family, only i find very few differences between P5Q-D and P5K-Deluxe/P5K3-Deluxe that i have on my desk now. Not talking about stuff that is required by southbridge and extra PCI or releated to P45.
I thought P45 had native PCIe 2.0 x8 connectors so no need for a PCIe switch? I'm pretty certain one of the older Intel slides indicated this. Here's to hoping P45 will enable Socket T to go out with a BANG :party: :party:

Gomeler, there are some LGA protectors that are not built by foxconn. For example i have few Tyco that i'm looking at now. There are also ones used by ASRock that are not Foxconn transparent ones, but very weird shape ones without any manufacturer on them.
I stand corrected. All my Gigabyte and MSI protectors have been Foxconn and I've gone through quite a few. Thought I had read somewhere that Foxconn was contracted for all LGA775 protectors, must have been mis-informed. There I go for shooting off my mouth, but the point still stands :p:Quote:

does anyone know if p45 pci express is 16x / 16x? or is it still 16x / 4x?
or is it split 8x / 8x ?

Go figure. Theoretically as the P45 is mainstream based chipset 8x/8x might sound right. Otherwise this chart stands that P45 will be DDR3 only, but both ASUS boards are DDR2 and other P45 ones i seen was with DDR2 also.
Maybe it is PCI-E 2.0 16x, but when Crossfired it splits to PCI-E 1.0 16x/16x :confused:
