Ok funds are now available. My build list is complete. Many thanks to all that provided answers to my questions. The order / wait process has now begun. Once I start receiving parts I'll provide you with the much anticipated pics and will continue to provide pics throughout the build. The ultimate plan is to build the complete system in the Duality with the rear panel rotated 90 degrees to have a duality/horizion

Looks good. I would probably got with 7/16" tubing, as it's much easier to work with the than 1/2".

I'm not sure of the heat output of the 9650, but I agree that the 3870s are very cool running cards. I had a single 3870 on a loop with a DDC, PA160, and MCW60, and got idle temps of 26c and loaded temps of 29c.

I was planning on PrimoFlex UV tube will 1/16th really make that much of a difference?

Yeah it does. It has a much cleaner look and is easier to route and less chance of leakage around the barbs.:up:

Questions:
1) Will a single 120.3 with three fans pushing air into the case be enough to cool all my components? Please bear in mind that the new 3870’s are 55nm process so they run much cooler then previous cards. The CPU is also a 45nm process and will also run much cooler. I’m a bit leery of running dual loops and rads and still have enough space for the file server’s HDD’s (If I go dual loop I’ll probably just run the drives in an external case)
2) Water makeup, change cycle, quantity? I plan on using just plain distilled water with a little bit of algae deterrent? Any other recommendations?
3) Waterblock backing plates? What is recommended to use? Do I need backing plates for the GPU, NB, SB, and Mosfets or just the CPU?
4) Thermal paste? AS5 or AS Ceramique

I’m sure I’ll have more questions as this system is torn apart but this initial post is already a long read.

1. While some of the new components will run cooler I still think this is a bit much to tackle for a single loop. consider a 2nd loop and only use a 120.2 for it and have that cool your cpu. From experience, ditch the idea of cooling the NB/SB and mosfets for now, run with just cooling the main components then upgrade in 6 months or so.
2. Distilled water with PT nuke, add dye to desire. (Make sure you clean everything out per guides except leave the vinegar on the store shelf)
3. If the block for the GPU has a backing plate use it, as for the cpu I find it is about personal choice but I prefer it to keep from warping/bending the board.
4. I prefer ceramique but again this is about choice.

@ joecop120 $6K is a lot but it's been nearly 10 years since I built a custom system so I get my money's worth outta them. As for shareing my $$$ you'll have to make an appointment with my accountant. IE The Wife:D

@ Wolfsburg18 Thanks for the input to my questions. The only reason I'm looking at cooling the entire board off the bat is I've seen some very bad damage done to these boards after they have been powered up trying to remove the stock cooling setup. I think Asus uses thermal epoxy to put it together. - maybe just removeing the heatpipe and cleaning that garbage off and reinstalling and go from there. It would save a bunch. Nah that's no fun...:D

Two loops will probably be the route I take in the end 120.2 on the CPU and the 120.3 for the GPU's and MB. Time to start thinking about a case to house all my HDD's for the server.

If you aren't going to run dual loops now, you may want to consider getting a second pump at least. The EK Supreme's are pretty restrictive, and with everything else in the loop, you don't want to have any flow issues. If anything, take Wolfsburg18's advice and just watercool the CPU and GPU's for now and replace the stock TIM on the bord with something better (something that should always be done anyway).

Were it me, I'd put a Fusion instead (for the flow increase) drop the NB, SB, Mosfets on water and the remainder would work in a single loop.

If you must water cool something board related do the NB only. The mosfets and SB don't benefit tons (some but not tons) from the water cooling. You could basically decide on whether to run a 2nd loop for them at a later date.

A quad and 2 gpu's, even cool ones is more than enough for a single loop. And even then you'll want to choose blocks that aren't too restrictive (which the EK is) just so you don't put any added burden on the system.

Where did you find published information that the EK Supreme is restrictive? I've looked and don't seem to be able to find and data on the matter. I know Martinmm should be receiving one soon so I'm going to hold out for that data. At least for now as I still have time before I place my orders.

From what I've read so far in response I'll most likely run a dual loop. The money is not the issue as much is doing things right the first time is. I hate replacing work for time and $$ when I could have done it right the first time round.

To put it another way if I'm going to WC might as well do the board too ;)

I would also recommend 2 loops. Ten years is quite along time, IIRC before pentium 4. I would always love more money, but time is my main issue. I've got three builds going, one of which has been coming together over the past year. :(
Plus, not a lot of progress due to frigid weather.

Only bad thing is most shops I've found including EK are out of stock on some of the waterblocks, and the SB-Max EX is not manufactured yet, and I have yet to find a supplier for the Yate Loon 80mm D80SM-12 fans. Any Ideas?

Question1 on the Rez. I'm planing to connect the top of the rez directly to the fillports the the M-M nipple, use the very bottom as a drain and connect the rest of the loop to the side ports. Do you think I will still need to use the mounting clips if attached directly to the fill port and mounted to the top of the case?

Question2 Dual Loop recomendations. Which loop would be best to put the MB blocks Loop1 or Loop2. Or should I split the NB,SB, Mosfet's between the two loops? Both loops will be on single pump and 120.3 rads.

According to Yate Loons Website They make the 80mm medium speed fans. I'm not however having much luck finding a U.S. Supplier:(

The only 80mm yate loon I could find is the low speed variant. Link.

Thanks for the Link. They are going to be aux exhaust fans so low speed should work ok if I can't find the medium speed ones.

Saw that, but only choices are black and white, and if you select brushed then you can't choose a color. I guess it would just be aluminum colored?
