GF 8800GT Differences between different manufacturers?

I have one thing to ask before I order new items for my new rig.

As for now, Nearly All the Nvidia GeForce 8800GT cards are sold out in Sweden, and there are only cards by etc. Leadtek left.
ex: Leadtek GeForce WinFast PX8800 GT 512MB

I was wondering, It differs around $20 per card, and I wonder whats the differences between the card in performance?,
Is the ASUS GF 8800GT card better then the Leadtek one in performance?

ASUS: Asus GeForce Extreme N8800GT/G/HTDP 512MB
Leadtek: Leadtek GeForce WinFast PX8800 GT 512MB

If someone could clearify, I would be happy!

Can only find a BFG one available, with a few places having EVGA ones arriving (supposedly) in a couple of days.

Different manufacturers should be nearly identical in stock performance. The reason you have price differences are reliability and (potentially) overclocking performance. ASUS is a bigger brand name than Leadtek and as such their products are more coveted and there for more expensive. Also, in most cases, bigger brands like eVGA and BFG Tech will overclock better than cheaper manufacturers like PNY.

This is not always the case... sometimes brands are cheaper simply because they are younger and there is less data to support their quality. It's kind of like finding a good rookie in sports... Adrian Peterson was not regarded as highly as players like Larry Johnson, however his performance has been substantially better.

Get it?

Yep, Leadtek VGA's used to have great OC potential, however haven't dealt with this brand since my good old 6600GT.
As for now i think most brands come with stock cooling are reference design/clocks, hence are about equal. So no real big difference between various brands. Just buy what's available. or wait for Christmas - 8800GTS 128SPs.

what about the zotac brand.

All current-model nVidia GPUs are manufactured by Flextronics
and Foxconn, and shipped ready-made to nVidia's partners, with
very little room for modification. So basically what you're buying
when you choose a Brand is the specific configuration, the drivers,
maybe different memory, accessories, and the warranty (along
with support & customer service.) You're also buying that company's
reputation for quality control/assurance (and of course in the case of
eVGA, you're buying their "Step Up" program as well.)

I tend to rule out companies without a solid reputation for quality
assurance, then weigh warranty/service vs price as the deciding factor.

Well PC Partner owns Sapphire which do the ATI cards. Now PC Partner created the Zotac group some time ago which do the Nvidia cards. Guessing by Sapphire's quality they should be fine. I'm planning myself to get the Zotac AMP! Edition.

All the current 8800GT are made by Foxconn AFAIK.


So diference can be bining, coolers, bundle, etc... but the card it self is from the same manufacturer

Exactly, and in a few weeks we should see also 8800 GT made by Flextronics,
according to teh Fudzilla
