E6850 L724A105 on Single Stage 4.9GHz 32M SuperPi stable (Gigabyte P35 & X38 mobos)

hey guys

got a nice chip for a comp i am going to attend next week and did some testing to see if it's any good or what :D


TEST SETUP

• C-BuZz Blackbox SS Rotary 1HP
• Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P F6 bios
• Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 F3 bios
• PCI MX400 Nvidia GFX
• 2x1GB Corsair PC10000 week 8 '07
• 160GB Samsung 7200RPM IDE
• 620W Corsair HX620 Modular PSU
• WinXP Pro SP2

Got a HARD FSB WALL at 552Mhz :(

basically got a 552MHz FSB wall at all multis

Validation with 9x multi (clearly i could have benchmarked at 5Ghz easy aaaaargh)

-48C idle is pretty cool there after 32M run @4905Mhz :D

my E6850 on lol SS (-18 load) go 4600 only :(

guys i don't think those temps are right

my evap was on -48.5C lol

sounds about right..meaning very nice SS there - 1HP ! :)

my 1/4HP SS evap was around -36.5C for E6850 @4714Mhz for 32M when speedfan reported around -30.5C idle

Very nice chip :) And very efficient 32M time.

Something colder is needed in order to push up the FSB wall a bit.

plus youngpros CPU has an extra 20MHz FSB on mine
i don't think i stand a chance against pro but i'll give it a shot in the comp heh

DRY ICE on friday for the comp with Gigabyte X38 and Corsair PC10K sticks ;) :)

but DICE will not max the CHIP i don't think

fingers crossed i can get another 25-30Mhz for some superPi ownage

this chip will bench Pi at those clocks easy on dice

so i changed over to X38-DQ6 and thought i might as well flash to latest bios
so from F3 to F4

my conclusion is DO NOT USE F4 bios if you have this board

F4 is ****ed :mad: i could not go past 445Mhz FSB no matter what and even that wasn't too crash hot stability wise

after trying to figure it all out i decided to flash back to F3 bios

and now all is fine

i'm not a guy that uses soldering irons nor do i have a steady hand
while i could probably follow instuctions and all i don't dare :banana::banana::banana::banana: around a few days before the comp starts

as you know gigabyte PCIe voltage is tied in to PLL and i only gained 4MHz FSB by going from stock to +0.35v so it's just colder temps that will help me on the comp

Nice Chip dinos! Makes me think back to the mobil athlon xp days with their unlocked multis.... how nice that was

What I would give to find a way to unlock the multis on a core 2! lol...
