A-Data joining the extreme DDR3 memory war

A-Data is not in the famous amongst overclockers brands list yet, but it seems like it's time for a change for them.
There's a "new kid on the block", who joined A-Data and has taken the "leadership" of Enthusiast range of products for them, a guy who's well-known for his work in GeIL and Corsair previously and his support in the overclocking scene, Steven Kuo.

He is currently working on A-Data's new overclocking section of their site and on some nice 'n' nasty DDR3 memory kits.

no offense to you... A-DATA isnt exactly new to the enthusiast market... back then in the ddr1 days...

anyway...

good to see some more competition in the ddr3 market... higher speeds and lower prices are always welcome.

No offense taken...but even then, was A-Data as known as Corsair was ? Or OCZ ? :)

They had some decent products, but never got really into the enthusiasts/pro-overclockers battlefield.

All this news about Ram lately, and there seems to be more life left in DDR2 with 2x2GB sticks on the verge of becoming the norm. Seeing that DDR2 is still in the game, it will compete rather nicely, and we should see some healthy price wars.

Do you know that A-Data typically made, or still makes most of the memory for Corsair and other major brands? ;)

A-Data is one of the largest memory suppliers in the world.
Around the end of summer '06 they had some of the best prices for 2gb DDR2, ~$140, that could be overclocked to around 450mhz.

A-Data has a very nice product line for the mainstream/budget market,even with DDR2,look at the Vitessa series with D9 that in Europe cost much less than OCZ/Corsair products with similar IC's....
My A-data Vitessa 2X1GB 800 4-4-4-12 cost 67 euros and they go up to 1000 4-4-4-4 or 1180 5-5-5-10 @ 2.3v....

Yup.
Like what Foxconn does for other mobo manufacturers ;)

P.S. To clear everything up, because some people took what I said in another way, I didn't mean/say that A-Data is an unknown company, or bad/low quality.
I was saying that their 'high end/enthusiast' products weren't as famous/known as other manufacturers products ;)

Yes it was. but at that time A-data was building models for Entry Level Only. :) Now they still have lower price (less marketing) but produce better modules, even for enthusiasts. :up:

It has micron D9 DDR3 ICs

A-Data is doing a great job exposing overclocking modules at mainstream prices!
the Vitesta series is a good example of this:)

Don't have any info on IC's except the top part ( 1900X ) which is D9GTR and/or Z9HWQ.

Some parts look like Qimonda and Elpida ICs to me :D

1600 and 1900 are D9

999 timings... 2.15v...
this sounds really weird...

micron only needs 1.85v for 1900 986...

it might be only the SPD timing+voltage table
ADATA known to be a good RAM here in Asia
they performed well with great cost performance :up:
all their DDR 1000+, 1066+ use a D9 GMH with cheap price and their 1200+ use D9 GKX also D9 GMH (highbinned)

the Western markets seem not as high as the Eastern market
