Lian Li A05 is a wonderful tiny case

Ockie, this thread convinced me to buy this case. Originally I was going to get a LL pc-1000, but opted for this. I usually like big cases but since I am going back to a 2 PC / 2 Mac configuration, I thought this would be the perfect HTPC/Gaming/Media computer.

So here is my recently built putt-putt a05.

Specs:

C2D e6600
Corsair pc8500
Abit IP35 Pro
Evga 8800 GTX
SilenX fans throughout - no side window yet
Swiftech H20-Compact [perfect for this case - 31 Idle / 40 Load]
Corsair 620W
Seagate 250 (OS)
Seagate 320 (Data/Apps)
Seagate 750 (Media)

Dual-boot: XP MCE / Vista HP 64

That's a nice little setup. I was thinking of doing G50 a few months ago and did a PC30 with a sempron for my sister a while back.
The PC30 is tiny,2-5.25" bays and needs a blowhole for any high heat cpu but the sempron at 2000mhz was perfect for her.

Nice! I like the way that Swiftech setup really cleans up a watercooling setup, very minimilistic :up: I love the A05, seems the best for a compact ATX machine, enjoy!

I am loving my A05! it's by far the best case I've had in some time. I picked it up from newegg for 89.00 shipped!! can't beat that. I have the same power supply (HX620W) and found that flipping it so that the fan is up did wonders for overall case cooling. I also just picked up the Swiftech H20-Compact and can't wait to get it installed :)

Thanks man. I want to find out what the PC30 is all about now. The blowholes I put on top definitely help out. When them, the overall thermals are quite good especially with an 8800 in there.

Yeah the Swiftech h20-120 compact is perfect for smaller cases. I sually run separate parts but this just suits it well, and performs really good.

I bought it for 89.00 too. When you get your Swiftech compact make sure that you secure your backplate well, and I suggest mounting the block prior to mobo install. It clamps down well but the screws can knock the backplate off behind the mobo (I know from experience).

Also, try to run the pump before starting the system. It was made for a vanilla atx so the fillport will be blocked by your gpu on the BTX style a05. Also, since the hoses are lower than the pump make sure you tilt the rig to get fluid in there so you don't dry run the pump and burn it up. But, again, this is a bad-ass little compact cooling getup.

Nah man, I nestled it in there good. Also, these temps are with a high ambient since my AC is out. :( Running in an 80 degree room.

Also, I would have done a worklog and posted some higher res pics (which I will do soon), but I gave my 8.0MP dig cam to my parents, and am now waiting for my ultra compact from ZZF.

Have you guys seen the Lian Li a01 - quite a funky case? The g50, v600, and a12 are compelling cases as well, but I think the a05 has them beat on layout which is why I got it. I may auto-paint an a12 one day soon though.;)

I like my A05B too :D That H20-120 Compact is pretty cool. The APOGEE pump+block seems slightly weaker than a normal MCP355 but I wonder how it would do all alone on a 2x120 or 3x120 radiator.

Yeah, this case is really nice. Its amazing what it can fit in its size. Price nicely.

heh, I don't use "higher" terminology everywhere. You'd be surprised how people have their fans setup tho, in many situations, so, was just asking =P
