SC18CL cascade - WORKLOG

Hello

It's mine second cascade base on non-rotary compressors ..this time that are not so weak hermetics :D .

Specs :

compressors: 2 x Danfoss SC18CL
evap: steeper
XV: Alco TI-HW + 1.4l Danfoss receiver/ captube 0.9 mm
HX: Plate HX, 12 plates
condenser: 1.5 kW condensor + 230V fan
refrigerants : R507/R1150
oilseparator : Shine Year with automatic oil back
safety : Danfoss KP5 cutoff
case : Laser cutted and powder coated case (black)
others: Dixell XR20CX to control 2nd stage start, 4* REFCO panel gauges, expansion tank

I've mounted Alco TI-HW TXV designed for R22, just to check how it'll perform with pure R507 :). If it'll work bad - I will swap it for Danfoss TES2 :D .

I must say that new dixell's panel (CX version) looks REALLY nice :D .

Why the pipes must be always so horrible order and looks. Buy a pipebender and take a look cold ice`s builds :D

Someone have to say something else, not always just "WOW How nice" :p: Otherwise clean job, i hope it perform well ;)

That and why never good wiring? What ever happend to conduit or proper sheathed wire?

Well the thing isn't finished, I'm sure if he's sending it to a customer he'll atleast tie/bundle the wiring together. Wish I could get a pair of those monster SC's in the US, the 21's would be even more fun to play with.

Yah indeed Gom. We do have a 6/5 advtange on HZ though.

Cold_ice use many "knees" to connect pipes (becasue eg. 10mm is bit hard to bend for 90*), maybe that looks OK, but if I'll make that in this way I'll be afraid about durable of piping (= possible leaks after long time or using) .

What is wrong for You with wiring ? :( I've used plastic shields in every place I can. You can see that eg. near dixell ....only naked wiries are now on condensor, but when I mount case I'll make that cleaner (I mean I'll fasten them) . So what's wrong with electric wires ? :shrug: :shrug:

All pipes from 6-10mm are bend with a pipe-bender. 12mm and up I use brazing in bends, because hard copper is a little bit hard to bend without hydraulic bender ;)
Its no problem to use fittings, as these are used in industry as well. You wont have any issues whit that when the brazing is done correctly.

The thing that makes it look messy is the excess use of coils for the copper, the electrics should be in their own sealed box, from the pressure stat conduit would been advisable along with a better guage cable, perhaps it is optical but the gauge looks small; 14 awg ?

He'll work in SWG probably Xeon :D Out with your American gauge!

The way you used a duble negitive makes it hard to figure out.

I love double negatives, it's fun to string em together to confuse people :p: In double-negative speech noster@tu is saying we think it's sexy when we keep all the wires bundled together. Otherwise I'll have to resign from double-negative translation and hang my head in shame :up:

@piotres: How do you get your pipes so shiny after soldering? Do you polish the black residue away with a dremel or something? Even when I use steel wool for removing copper oxide after soldering, the black residue (flux?) sticks like hell.

They are noisy compared to 18's ^^. You can play with GS's too (34CLX on 1st stage and 26CLX on second one) that would be fun :cool:

I use steelwire brush attached to drill + after that polishing compound used for cars . :)

@Clem : SC21CL are really much more loudly than SC18CL ? :) I ask becasue I've never used SCxxCL before :) . GS is that new serie, yes :rolleyes: ? :)

The SC18B (or CL) are quiet (compared to Tecumseh/aspera), the 21 I've heard isn't quiet, the comparison is hard as there wasn't both running but the SC21 seems to be noisy, the 18 is quiet :P

GS serie isn't really new, every constructor have 26 and 34cc compressors (they look all the same by the way :D). It's as powerfull as the UH CAJ2464Z (34cc - 1.25HP - LBP) but I've never found GS ones :/
