my first dry ice session with 440 celeron and c2d e6600

hi guys so i decided to take the plunge to the unknown and do my first experiments dry ice.

the first thing i did was insulate the mobo and make a mounting kit for the container i bought from fellow finn SF3D .. btw thanks man for the tube it works perfectly :up:
and if im not mistaken the builder of that particular container is ilkkahy not 100% sure though..

the mandatory XS on the frosty containers bottom... :up: i owe a lot to the dry ice section.. i pretty much learned everything that i know about extreme cooling for there :toast:

and here are the results that i got.. first let me apologize about the lack of ram settings.. the cpu z was detecting the timings all wrong so i decided to drop those completely from the sreenies.. lol it was saying that i had ddr3 memory an the timings were 33.6.6.9 when they were 4.4.3.3.. pretty weird huh.

ok 4.1ghz not bad.. but not too great ether..

Nice job with your first dry ice bench and very clean setup. My insulation is never that clean, wish I could get good foam like yours.

I got a few tips though. First try crushing up the dry ice into snow, then fill a bit with dry ice before adding the acetone and then fill some more. This'll create a sort of dry ice slushy which works better in my experience. You'll have to constantly mix the dry ice and the acetone to keep gas bubbles from forming on the base, but it'll let you keep absolutly constant temps for hours of hard benching, temps won't even raise during 32m runs. Even at high clocks, with that technique and my mousepot my temps don't even raise a whole degree from the start of a 32m run to end. Now if you get lazy in the middle of the run temps will rise, but if you tamp it down you've got nothing to worry about. Next, you probably don't need the vaseline, I never use it and it's never been a problem for me, and it's probably not a good idea to use a metal hold down.

What is the clear looking material that is surrounding the CPU and is all over the motherboard's capacitors?

hey thanks man for the tips..im kinda green at this so any kind of help is more than welcome.. :D
and yep have to agree with you that the metal holdown was not a good move, a lot of ice did start to form to it, but the paper towels seem to of helped a bit..
actually [XC] Hicks121 did point out last night that the dry ice acetone mix should be more slushy than i had there. :up: gonna try and make it more slushy today.

Nice to see that this tube is working like it should. You have to mix dry ice really well with this tube. Temperature will raise quickly if you don't. (Those poles are the reason of it.)

Thermal compund could be for example -arctic Ceramique. Is see that you used something else. Verkkokauppa.com is selling big tubes ~10€ (22g)

Waiting those E6600 benches. Same chip I had few months ago.

i would have used artic Ceramique but i found that i had misplased the the freaking tube lol.. i could not find it so i desided that AS5 would be better than nothing.. benching my e6600 right now.. i managed to f*ck up windows some how and have to re install the whole thing.. it happened when i tried to jump from 550 fsb to 570fsb..

No no no.. no artic ceramique, silver or anything like that. Just the most basic thermal grease with dry ice and ln2.

As said before with that container you have to play with dryice a bit but as properly used its quite effective.

Nice to see some dryice action from here :)

crap.. seems like i will not be able to do the e6600 test at all.. i ran out of dry ice..
i think that i just have to go and get a nother 10kilos next week and bench the e6600 again.. i even forgot to take sreenies from the SPi runs i made.. unbeliveble.. :hitself::hitself::hitself::hitself:
well from what i can say is the highest clock speed i was able to do was 4.7ghz just forgot to take those freaking sreenies.. :hitself:

Thats true. Basic silicon paste is good in this purpose. I did 4.6GHz with my E6600 and that tube. It is really good considering the price of it :D

What voltage you used @ 4.7GHz? My chip did 4.4GHz with 1.51V
Same tube was used in these runs. My chip had that weird temp bug, so I couldn't test higher MHz.

Haha....thats sucks about the screenies, but what matters is that you had a great time doing it & you learned alot from it(take freakn screenies next time..lol).:D

@SF3D the voltage i used was the max that this board could do without any mods ...1.7v (real 1.67V).
btw was that @4400 mhz with you p5k deluxe or with some other board..

this stuff is a addicting.

Those runs were made with Abit QuadGT.

These L627B chips can run really high speed with really low voltages. So try to lower your voltage a bit and raise your clockspeed and voltage step by step. If you need Vmod help on that P5K, just send e-mail to me.

4.7ghz is stable for Pi or just from screen?

@PcCI2iminal it was pi stable (1M) gonna give it a nother try in the following weeks.

hey thanks man.. that mouse is one of my first mods i ever made.. its originally some cheap microsoft mouse witch i decided to pimp it up :D

oh and actually after i took that pick (where it shows how much as5 i had used ) i came to the same conclusion as you did.. wayy too much as5.. so i didn't use that much of it when i fastened the container.
