Gigabyte P35 Motherboard Questions/Concerns (All P35 Giga Owners Pls Tune In)

Hello P35 Giga owners:

After my unsatisfied experience with the Asus P5K-Deluxe, I'm thinking of switching the board to one of the higher end Giga P35 boards.

I've a few questions to ask here:

1. Does the 12phase P35 DQ6 really that better than 6phase P35 DS3P in terms of better future compatibility for quad-cores? If it's just for C2D, how much differences will there be btw the two?

2. How's the quality of the stock heatpipe based heatsinks on the DQ6? Is it firmly seated on top of the MOSFETs and NB/SB?? Did you had go through the hassel of removing them and reapply the thermal paste??
**Will a backplate based heatsink like the popular "Zalman" CNPS series CPU cooler fit with the DQ6's "Crazy Cool" back plate on the back of the DQ6's mobo??

3. I've read quite a few P35 Giga mobo's reviews and I'm still not too jumping up and down about the DQ6 or DS3P. Performance and stability wise, how do you think your boards compare to the Asus P5K-Deluxe NOW and in the FUTURE? (One thing I read is that the DQ6 is cooler than P5K-Dlx, especially in the MOSFET areas)

4. Any known major flaw in DQ6 or DS3P's overclockability? future BIOS fixable?

5. Asus P5K-Deluxe has a wonderful feature called "CPU Voltage Damper" and every PK5-Dlx owners including myself find it really works wonders, literally little to none "Vdroop" at all. I wonder how's the Vdroop on the DQ6 or DS3P in particular??

Hi, ive tested Asus P5K, P5K Deluxe, Giga P35-DS4, Giga P35-DQ6, Giga P35T-DQ6 ... and winner is ...... Giga DQ6!

If you want best from the best buy DQ6 model. But DS4 is better choice for less price. Boards are exactly the same, instead of 8 missing mosfets on DS4.

1. There is not difference! Only marketing move.
2. Dont worry you can use any cooler ... and heat-pipe are seatting perfectly ...
3. Asus is not good mobo now, maybe later ... Giga is usable now!
4. Maybe nothing
5. This feature does not work properly, i suppose ...

Thanks for the comparisons OBR :) I must be getting old... I`m looking forward to 50W less power consumption compared to my P5N32-E Plus!

but seriously, they're not available in the US yet. the DS3P is only about $170 tho. i'm almost at the point of pulling the trigger on it.

wow gigabyte is on a roll again.. just like the DS3 days.. :) they are listening to consumers.. :) hehehe I think there are gigabyte men here at XS.. reading our opinions and what we want.. :) good for them.. hope gigabyte's pricing in my country is good.. they sell DS3 here for 190 usd.. tsk tsk how much for P35 DQ6 400usd ..haaay.. thats what I call price goggling.. :D

Last Giga models are great! But nForce boards was very very bad!

By the way. The DQ6 does not have real 12-Phase power. It has 6-Phases, just like the other models, but it has 2 chokes and 2 capacitors per phase, which should make the vcore indeed more stable. On the box of the DQ6 it says "12 virtual phases". If it was a real 12-phase power, it should also have the double amount of mosfets.

hi every1, any1 help? i have a gigabyte board p35t-dq6 an e6850 and corsair ddr3 1333, tryin to oc it when im not really sure wats going on! it dosen seem to take any voltage at all and it keeps rebootin. i have 580wpower, thermaltake liquid cooler, but i keep runnin into a brick wall lol. tnx

i myself am fed up of gigabyte not giving a proper bios
if i were to go p35 only dfi will do buying a gigabyte board is like luck of the draw i'm on my third gigabyte board i gotta say this one is the best of all of them but all my gigabyte boards killin my d9ghm rams 6 gigs so far and brand new set of ballistix 8500 has degraded in a week
if it is my power supply i will know verry soon my mushkins comin in from rma
same time as my dfi-x38
ncix will have foxcon mars verry soon witch is verry tempting
but i ordered the dfi-x38
edit: i have no faith in gigabyte bios team their voltage options just plain suk compared to ther boards
they got too many bioses to fix with board gonna get fixed next year lol
i personnally regret buyin my p35c even though it got me to 575fsb

Let me put it this way, motherboards don't kill memory unless you set your memory voltage at too high of threshold (PEBKAC). A faulty PSU with a bad 3.3V or 5V rail will kill your RAM. I know this is off-topic, but if you have the Mushkin HP, dump the blasted POS. You're blaming the wrong company and/or part for the problem zsamz. I still have my PC2-6400 Ballistix Tracer which have been moved between three Gigabyte boards. They are not dead yet. Look for a more reputable power supply manufacturer.

2.26v for 2.35v rated ram not that high

The Zeus is not a bad one, but that doesn't mean I haven't seen them fail or suffer from a bad ripple on the rails. My Strider has lasted me for quite some time now and has not had any effects on my RAM.

i was on foltron 500 when the first set crapped out
now 2 more sets of xp2-8500 with 650 zeus
i'll be on dfi soo if another set dies i'll know 1000% who the culprit

Another question: Do you have a device in your home that cleans the power going to your system? This is not necessarily a power bar/surge protector, but they do come as a feature.

btw my son usin my old ps on same power outlet his d9gmh are 6 months old kingston value doin 4-4-4-8 @ 1000mhz 2.2v and he uses his system 3 times more than me
