Are Brisbanes soldered?

I really want to know if the new brisbanes are soldered to IHS.
i bought this new 4000+ that does 2.9GHZ at 1.36V but no matter i cant go higher.
It boots at 3.0, even at 3.15GHz but no matter vhat Vcore its not stable (temps go past 50C mark).
To be honest, i tried 1.48V and im scared to go higher as i dont know how much is too much for 65nm X2.

anyone help?

1.55V is a max. you would want to go with very good air cooling.

I wouldn't go much above 1.5vcore either.

Best bet is to use a really good water cooling setup.
I used the WC setup in my sig (-the D-tek (I used a TDX) for a 4800+ brisbane and it kept both cores around 4-7*c idle and 12-16*c load in 22*c ambient temp. according to SpeedFan. You can most definately add about 10*c to that for actual temps though!!

physics dictate a different result, as the previous poster alluded too, a regular water setup or righteous air can not cool below ambient......

Note, the Key word in the sentence was, "About". It would be more like 10*c to 15*c to idle and load. I'm sure not all Brisbanes will run at those temps on water or air.
Water and Air will never ever be below Ambient NO, BUT, it CAN be Ambient.
Those are just Speedfan figures anyhow. I don't think the issue with Brisbane temps is going to be fixed short of putting a temp probe on the processor itself which is physically impossible due to the pin array and the IHS.
baldy, you say physics. What is the purpose of a fan of any kind? When you turn a box fan on in your house when it is hot, does it not cool you down?
Seriously though, how do we actually know how hot the core REALLY is on the Brisbane? Unless someone has literally put a probe on the core itself and measured it. Is there someone here that can lead me to a link or even some type of physical print that can tell me that the Brisbane core actually runs @ such and such temps? I havn't done that much research on the subject so don't take me wrong (no offense intended), if there is something out there please lead me to it..

There is a way how to monitor brisbanes temps = have good bios/mobo... mine reads it well under load and idle, both cores.

About that fan+room, its all about thermodinamics, the room itself isnt any much colder when you turn the fan on, but YOU are hotter than the room, so if you turn the fan on, the exchange of heat between you and the room's air will became quicker, resulting in lower skin temp (feeling colder) and slightly warmer room....
that all about it...

Well Ply,that doesn't mean your chip is fine with those Volts even if it runs 100% stable...
That much overvolting for sure shortens the life span of the chip.But thank God for SOI in AMD's chips,it makes them very resistant to maltreatments from us :)

And as for Brisbanes core temps,my calculation for my Brisbane is i need to add 19 or 20 degrees(for 1. and 2. core respectfully) to the temps CoreTemp is reporting in order to get the real temps of the cores.I got this by comparing the core temp at idle and load with CPU temps my MSI core center is reporting at full load and idle as well SpeedFans measurements.Since my ex Orleans was having similar temps reported at load by SPeedFan and CoreCenter i suspect that my idle temp at 1.46V and 2.7Ghz for my 3600+ Brisby is around 7+20 and 9+20 for both cores (CoreTemp reported + 20 degrees C offset) and my full load(OCCT) is 30+20 and 31+20.Cooling is very good HyperTX.

Brisbane DTS is broken, you can't rely on what any of the "Core" temperature monitors show.

again, careful what you say, air, nor water, is 100% efficient, there is no way air cooling, or normal water cooling can cool to ambient, a few degrees over, yes. close to ambient, yes.

again, physics 101 prevent this from happening......of course, there are ways of short term cheating:rolleyes: , but the effects don't last long.........

Well being I'll only have this chip for a few more months, ( begs for k10 to show), not too worried about it. On a side note I have seriously tortured every Amd cpu I've owned and none of them have died yet. Even my old Duron 600 is still kicking in a friends computer, at 990mhz 1.65v. Close to seven years of abuse on that ole boy...

I have yet to see a single Brisbane to report correct temperatures.
I also got an email from a company who was in contact with AMD. AMD responded that the DTS wasn't ready yet. We have all seen that in most cases it works well (pre-Rev G1 chips). But Brisbane doesn't look too good.
I've also put together a new system, and while PC ProbeII reports 22C idle, I get 17C and 8C in Core Temp. And even a bigger difference when running dual Prime95.

I don't get the big variance between Core 0 and Core 1's temp.
