Corsair Offering Free 8-pin PCI-E Connectors with HX Series

Only catch is you pay the shipping...but still a good deal.

New cards are requiring one 8 pin and one 6 pin at the moment, right? I'm not sure if it would be wise to see if I can get one shipped to me, or two. (upgrading soon).

Thanks for the info, my HX620 just came thursday, still deciding if I will upgrade to a 8800GTX or keep my 7900 and wait for the next refresh.

Just so you guys have an idea... At IDF last night, we have had a X38 system based on Asus P5E3 running 1800C7DF @ 1940 7-7-7-20 with 2 x 2900XTs in Crossfire and Kentsfield @ 3.4GHz... With Prime95 (all 4 cores stressed) @ Below NOrmal priority) and 3DMark06 running peaked at 742W during Canion Fight on 3DM06, pulled from the outlet. Taking 80% efficiency, it''s still 600W... HX620 will hold it just fine :)

It might, but for how long? That is almost the entire capacity of the PSU, which would make me wonder if it would last. Though I guess with a 5 year warranty and being rated at 620W continuous output I suppose that it should be fine and if it isn't just have to RMA the unit.

Shouldn't you be pimping the TX750W rather than saying the HX620W will be fine? :D

Lets just wait until they release it first, shall we? The fact that the TX750 will be made by Channel Well instead of Seasonic is not inspiring. :shakes:

Why? CWT and Seasonic are actually very similar designs. Corsair basically took what Thermaltake uses for the Tough Power and put in all Japanese caps and a single +12V rail. I don't see anything wrong with that. :D

VX550W (a CWT) review should be up this weekend according to Matt and Wolf.

This confuses me. My GTX uses 2 6-pin connector and 2 2pin connectors where it doesn't plug to anything. Why are they saying GTX uses 8-pin?

I believe the only cards that use the 8-pin connector currently is the ATI HD2900XT. Future PCI-E 2.0 spec cards will use the 8-pin connector.

Where'd you see that? They're just speculating that the new future 9800 (nvidia) cards will be up to 2.0 specs and thus draw I think like up to 300W. (something insane)

Yup, just the 2900XT and (XTX -> xt-1gb)
