I Feel A Little Let Down

I feel the need to speak my mind on this issue.. From day one I have set this usergroup up for all the crunchers on XS and have been ontop of it every second of the day.. This was all done for you guys! I had a little trouble with the color scheme from the beginning... I had called FUGGER to talk about the site and when this subject came up he said the color white was annoying.. So, I told him I would change it.. Thats why a thread was put up for suggestion.. I read through and the majority of people like maroon.. I called FUGGER and asked him how he felt about maroon and he liked the idea.. So, I changed it... Now, all I am seeing is posts complaining about the color.. I feel like I have done all this work for you guys for nothing.. Like a bunch of guys out there dont appreciate what I have been doing or have done.. Sorry if this is a long rant but I just feel pretty bad about this.. :fact:

EDIT: I don't care what colour it is, as long as it isn't pink...

Why I never got my username changed in the first place (Well, one of the reasons). I kinda saw this coming. So many people with different tastes...., it can only cause further crisis on this issue.

I hear ya Eric....it's tough to please everyone but the alternative is just deleting the whole damn usergroup. Hopefully nothing like that happens.....the maroon is damn nice afterall.

Your efforts are not unnoticed....and take it from me, I know the backend of the forum is a complete PITA to work with....probably something most people don't think considering how user friendly the forum interface is.

I am sorry I didnt see your request post.. Did you want yours done? You can be added to the usergroup and keep your current color and name.

I appreciate your work aswell :) Im not bothered about how long it lasts or what colour it is, its the effort you put in to make this happen, thats what counts as a respected part of the forum! Many thanks :)

i hear what you're saying eric. don't take our :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:ing about the color as us not appreciating the efforts you put in to this. we really appreciate all you have done, not only here but for the WCG project, DC projects, and the forum as a whole. plus... not only you but the rest of the mods, super mods, and admins have for a long time done a great job and continue to do so.

i think there was so much complaining about the color just because everyone was so hyped about the white. it did look pimp as hell. but FUGGER and several other are right, it was distracting and hard to read in many parts of the forum, so therefore is was doing the opposite of its intent. the current color works well, and i think now that we are getting over the fact the we won't have white, the majority of us feel it works well and serves its purpose.

Guys I appreciate the comments but I feel the need to say I didnt make this thread for any pat on the backs.. I just felt I should speak my mind and post my frustrations.. Its not only the posts about the colors its the pm's I am getting.. I know most of the posts were prolly just messing around but I still feel terrible that I cant do what everyone wants.

I tried to delete my posts containing suggestions ~the color of font... (->no luck) so those wouldn't be misinterpreted :confused:

I believe some people just thought like me that white was advertising well in contrast to the maroon IMHO. (And oh yes... I really had to adjust contrast of my monitor to see it's "brown" not black. I like to keep lighting at my room really low).

whether you wanted a pat on the back or not you DO deserve it for everything you've done here, so don't complain about it :p:

obviously i have no idea what was sent to you in PM and by definition it should remain private. but if people aren't happy with it, change them back to standard user. we didn't do this to make us feel important or look cool on the forum, we did it to draw attention to the DC section. and i think it will do that. you did a great job setting this up and getting it done so that it works with the forum and serves its purpose. if people aren't happy, too bad.

it's pretty much impossible to make everyone happy all the time, and you can't hold that against yourself.

You're doing a great job, Eric. I'm not sure who is unhappy. But on a large forum there will always be people who grumble for one reason or another.

I think a lot of people (really) don't care what color it is. I think most of the post-change comments would most likely come from people who dislike the change just by human nature and self-selection.

speaking only for myself for the moment, I appreciate the effort. I don't feel entitled to _any_ recognition or special treatment just because I fold and assign my points to XS. Anything given is a bonus and appreciated. White was fine. Maroon is fine. Maroon is a little harder to see, but whatever :).

back to general speaking...I don't think you should feel too down about the complaints. I understand, it's human nature to feel that way, but I think that if you look at the timing and sequeunce you will decide that the type and volume of complaints reflects human nature and the somewhat casual tone of our groups rather than true disapproval.

To Angra - this is not only a sort of 'recognition', but a way to try to get people to go 'gee I wonder what the color thing is about :confused:' and maybe get some more people for the crunching causes. (@ least that is why I'm in for it :hehe: )

(I think the white was a better idea because it made people NOTICE something new (worked on FUGGER :D :rolleyes: ) )

mad_mikee - good point. I knew that, just forgot for the moment - but also, the sense of entitlement, I think goes to eric's complaint more directly. Anyway, awareness is good :). Go everyone :)

Agreed with MadMikeE 100% on everything other than the white.
The white was hard to see on the users page and I'm guessing that is why Fugger chimed in on it.
I like the maroon myself. It lets people on this forum see very easily that there's more than 3 of us that do DC.
I think that's the perception of a lot of people at XS.
