I'd pay another $5 for a built-in fan speed controller. I'll hold out and just continue to use the 2 80mm fans I have held in place with plastic ties. Not bad though for those into the bling, who are likely to already have a fan controller in a drive bay.

hmm it's nice but i don't see any reason to replace my 92mm....
He should have compared it with just a normal fan imo... of course this thing is better then no cooling, will its more evenly distributed airflow help in my case?
but a normal fan doesn't look as cool as this...

it mentions 3500rpm is the fan at full tilt 12v. It says it slowed the fan down to 1500rpm but gives no mention on how many volts this is. Would one say 1500rpm is 5v? 7? ???

Can't tell u on which voltage teh 1500 RPM exactly was, because the fans stopped working with lowest setting on my Akasa, what is 5V. So it should be something around 5-8V. Maybe i messure it at some time.
I'll stick to my half assed 3x80mm that cool my BH5's and mosfets on the NF4. Works like magic, looks hardcore, didn't cost me a dime, and keeps the BHs at 265 for day to day operation :)
thanks funflix, if they didn't start up at 5v im assume its 6-8v for sure. Were the fans still audible at that 1500rpm? I agree you do get much better cooling at 3500 but if 1500 is dead silent it is still better than no fans at all.
my ocz cooler was a complete waste of money imo
i couldn't even palm it off on any of my m8s :rolleyes:
the fans are noisy, and the metal grill slightly blocks airflow - creating more noise
i have better cooling (touch test) and less noise (silence) from a single 80mm arctic cooling fan
My system isn't that silent. But if i took the rest down to 5V, i can't really here the OCZ Cooler. My 120x120s are Arctic Cooling AF12025 with 1500 RPM at 12V and the 80x80s are Revoltec Dark Blue with 2000 RPM at 12V. My HDDs plus the Laing are the loudest things then.Quote:
