Grease inside the hard drive !!! Is it possible ??

the sound level is reduced because the drive is broken :D
I guess the idea is good in theory, just like the one he had when buying that shirt

I beleive he is rubbing grease on the platters. Can you give a link to where you saw this being done?
-
That drive was dead the minute he put anything in-between the plates.. Anybody stupid enough to do this should be removed from the gene-pool...
Best Regards :toast:

"Sometimes it may require a few taps of the hammer. Be careful not to exceed the manufacturer's specification for shock and vibration when hammering."
ROFL!!!! :ROTF: :ROTF:
On a second note.

I wonder how many people have killed their hard drives trying this...
-
its a joke.
"Job well done! We guarantee that you will not have any more problems with a whining hard drive after this."
that is cause the hard drive wont work anymore thus no noise.
its a bad joke and i wonder how many idiots have tried it thusfar.

I bet more than 100 people tried this and broke their hard drives because the average computer user is not nearly as smart or talented as I am.
-
Its almost beleivable until he puts the grease on the platters.
Baahahhaha
-
Oh...... I wonder how many people tried that now......
this guy is nutz 0.o<--
-
lol, enjoyable. I love stupid stuff.
-
Can you put in olive oil and pose by the beach now?
-
As contero pointed out you guys are all being stupid elitist nerds. Newsflash, this is clearly a joke, I doubt anyone tried it period, you are not as as clever or genus as you think you are for not hitting your hard drive with a hammer.
The average user is much more smart and careful with their hardware then 99% of people here as they don't overclock, don't volt mod, don't mess with anything, don't rock the boat and are afraid to even breath on their computer.

You are saying cracking your hard drive open and putting grease on platters is a bad thing?! Wow you are really smart, thank you for shearing your wisdom with this world full of us idiots... Baahahhaha....
Hey if you are going to make fun of stupid people you better learn to spell first. The fact that you can't spell believable is a lot more ridiculous then some guy trying to be funny.
-
OK guys, let's cool our engines here.
This was obviously a joke from the start because anyone with basic hard drive knowledge would know that the second he cracked the seal on that puppy it was trashed all it takes is a single dust particle...
-
yeah, older hard drives aren't affected as much, i popped the cover on a 1 gig drive and booted windows 95 while i watched the read/write head, it worked for several days until i got bored and destroyed it for the magnet
-
This was a joke? God darnit, no wonder my hd dont work anymore...
:p
-
LOL!
I was reading a review once where a guy opened up a hard drive inside a ziplock bag and custom cut a plexi window into it.
Unfortunately this did not work for 2 reasons:
The first is that he messed with something he shouldn't have, because 20 minutes after he spun it back up one of the heads crashed into the platters.
The second is that even if that had not happened, EMI inside the case would have eventually wiped out all the data on the drive through that plexi panel. You have any idea how long it took WD to perfect the window on the raptor X to be both stylish/seethrough and protect the data?
Out of the m,ost delicate components inside of our PC's, I think that the hard drive takes the top 3.
-
he could've always used a piece of leaded glass
-
That may have worked. Althought I can't say for sure.
I never read too in depth into the subject but before WD finally pulled it off with the raptor X, companies were having real rpbolems with this because they couldn't get the right balance of EMI shielding/transparency.
They either added just enough material to the plexi to where the transparency wasn't compromised only to find out that the long term effect was still data loss, or added the right amount to shiled the data and in turn lost so much transparency on the window that it defeated the purpose of having one in the first place.
Also, is it just me or does the guy in the pictures above remind you of a concentration camp victim the way his tendons bulge through his skin?
