argh.... this board is tempting me!!!
but it's dang Abit board!!! and I vowed NOT to get another Abit board after the AW9D-MAX fiasco... (no official bios update for over 3 months).
Anyway. I'll just wait for results from everyone else before I decide on one...
I hope this release is much better than that of the Asus Striker...
I hope I don't regret it myself. My AW9D-MAX has been in the box since November. I loyally waited for a bios release to fix that darn board that never came. I was gonna sell it, but the used market value of that board is about $125-$150. Thats $100 less than what I paid for it shipped. Decided to hold on to it for a bit more. It's no FSB king, but its still a fast stable tinkerer. The IN9 32-Max is cheaper than Striker & supposedly more mature. If this it doesn't live up to the +500FSB hype it will be my last Abit board. Still it was a hell of a price @ $314 shipped cpmpared to every where else:)Quote:

LOL. Yeah, I ended up selling mine for $150 which was $90 less than I paid... but I hated it so much I HAD to get rid of it. :)Quote:

I fail to see the big issues with the AW9D still, but it isnt an easy board to pull a ton of FSB on.Quote:

Other than that, I really liked the board which is why I still own it. But without 445FSB, & the orthos/prime errors, it became nothing more than a memory/memtest board for me. I keep hoping Abit will release another NF7-S v2.0 type board(awesome right out the box). The AW9D-MAX was more a IC7-MAX type board(great after mods).
after reading some more reviews, this board cant even unlock multi's upward. Did the guys at abit even bother testing with a qx6700? :(
lack of voltage for 680i chipset sucks :(
PMW temps on low voltage chips are hitting 120C+ :(
This isnt good either, I understand that they are designed to run hot and im sure 100C is fine, but what happens when I wanna crank up the vcore on phase to 1.7?
When abit fixes all of these issues, maybe I will pick one up... this is depressing.
yea those high temps are going to be a problem when you are hitting max oc. Perhaps that's probably why not many are hitting +500fsb. And I cant believe they wanted us to run passive; at least add in a fan for the vrm and nb. :(
I'm not sure any of the 680i boards come without issues. I picked this board up for a few reasons
1) True SLI support & Future Nvidia Graphic card support
2) Gaming & Benching with 1T capabalities
3) Hyped 541 FSB
4) Delay gave me impression they were making sure to get it right
5) uGuru makes benching easier
If this board won't reach 541FSB I'll be okay because its for my game box & its being paired with a E6600. I will be disapointed if all the mouse & keyboard freezing is still there, raid buggy, or doesn't hit 500FSB stable. This is my last board under the current chipsets. I won't bother with the DFI 680i unless they really get it right.
Oh I agree with you this board still have many benefits. It's just ashamed it still have its little common flaws here and there. I wouldnt buy this board if I wanted to get max fsb, IMO that would be on the 965 (Commando). I like this board as an overall package with SLI, unlinked ram clocking, and was hoping 500 fsb is not too much too ask. Also the fact that it cant be worser than my non-overclocking P5W-DH is appealing enough. But let just hope Abit can come through with some good bios for us. I had really good experience with Evga 680i and I was hoping this would be a notch above that.
I would love to know why people with E6600s need 500fsb stable!Quote:

I dont expect 500+ to get stable with 9x multi. That's crazy talk without phase of course. Looking for something like 500x8 for benching and 515x7 for daily. Coming from this pos board it can't be much worse.

But nearly all the common boards that people have been using for the past six months in fact do unlock upwards.Quote:
