How to wire a Hitachi rotary compressor ???

I bought two Hitachi rotary compressors and i'm don't know how to wire them , as i can't find any PDF file ...
Model is : ASG108CV-B7AT (Hitachi Highly)

The motor has on it's top three terminals . C , R , S .
Only thing the store gave my is an an OLP (Overload protector) .

First thing tried was to connect the OLP in series with C . Then one wire from mains to the OLP ... and the other one to R .
The motor hums and nothing more . I didn't leave it more time to see what happens , but i think it wasn't working properly ...

Do i have to connect also the S terminal ???

Use the search function. This question has been asked dozens of times.
And might i suggest, you get somebody who knows what they are doing to wire it. If you don't have an ohmmeter and don't know how to draw a simple wiring diagram, you shouldn't be touching mains voltages!!

I have an ohm meter ... i have read many other threads ... I measured the windings and are OK .

I believe that something is missing ... like a PTC or relay ...They don't gave my one .

your going to need ALL the proper components, Their are 4 types of compressors, you probably need run or start capacitors or both & proper relays if needed depending motor type. Capacitors need to be proper type and micro-farad rating .You need to find factory specs. You sound like your in over your head, you NEVER connect wires unless your ABSOLUTELY SURE where they GO.

You need to STOP and educate yourself first. What you did was reckless at best.

Sorry if I sounded harsh. But mains voltages are deadly in the wrong hands.
If your missing the starter relay then you will need to acquire 1 somewhere. Your local refrigeration store may have a generic starter you can use. Take the compressor with you and show them it. Say "Can you help me with this compressor please?"

OK ... I'll stop trying things now .

I'm trying 5 days to find the specification manual . I have sent tons of emails to hitachi , various companies that are associated with hitachi motors .... but noone can help me.

The store i bought the motors doesn't have any specification sheets... To get the idea , the seller told me that the OLP is a relay ...

Should a generic 3in1 starter or something like this work ???

Don't just go out and buy a starter relay. What if it's the wrong one? What if you are also missing capacitors?
If you cant find any specs on the net, an onto it refrigeration store will have all the info you will need (assuming the compressor isn't 20 years old), and may be able to tell you what starter to use, what caps to use (if any).
Even after all that, even If you are 100% sure of where the wires connect to, without knowing your competence level, I would still discourage you from connecting any mains wires. Just getting the wires in the right place is only half of it. If the wires themselves aren't terminated correctly, that can cause problems, worst being it will burn your house down.

Not familiar with that model.If you have a CSCR compressor.You will need a start and run capacitor along with a amperage relay.The start winding,start capacitor and relay switch are in series.The run capacitor is wired in parallel with start capacitor and relay switch.The over load generally goes thru the netural to the common terminal.It will most often say on compressor what type of capacitors are in need.

I found this on page 2 of your link:

MotorType : Permanent Split Capacitor
Capacitor :30 MRD / 400 Volts
Locked Rotor Amps: 25 A (230V/60Hz)


According to the PDF file, if you scroll almost all the way down, it has a diagram for the run capacitor. Along with a wiring diagram showing the run capacitor in series and how to wire it all up.

It states nothing about a start capacitor, so do not run out and buy one.

OK ... Understand it ...

Point is that the store i bought the compressors doesn't have any other parts for the electrical connection for these compressors.
They are brand new , for R410A ... and i can't find their specifications ...:( :( :(
There are 2 more big companies here in Athens . I'll ask them too , but don't think i'll find anything ...

The link i gave is for a different model . It's just the only PDF i found for a hitachi compressor . That's why i gave the link . It does show a run capacitor , but nothing about relays ...

Yip. Been in the AC trade now for about three years. I am still a noob compared to Chilly1, walt and the likes, but I am more than competent in most areas of refrigeration and electrical.

If they are brand new compressors, it shouldn't be too hard to find the specs.
I agree, sit tight until you know exactly what you need.

A refrigeration store sold you a brand new compressor without the electrical gear to go with it? Or at least the information you need to get it going?
I'd find another refrigeration store if I were you.

That's right . Nothing except the OLP & the motor .Only reason i bought them was because of the 50% discount .
He also told me that they use the to replace broken/faulty compressor in A/C units .

That's an excellent compressor. You can use R410a, which performs very well for a single stage. It should even have enough capacity for several evaporators or an autocascade system.

Not that particular one but I have worked with a similar rotary in a quad Britney computer once. Rotary compressors work great for CPU coolers. A rotary designed for R410a is makes for low evaporator temperatures... Just watch the superheat to keep the compressor cool...

Let's take the worst case scenario .... Tomorrow i'm going to the store and let's say they don't have any electrical stuff for this motor.

Please correct me if i'm wrong as i'm new to electrical wiring and operation of motors ...
I talked with an A/C technician and he told me that most possible is that this motor is a PSC one . Also , all other Hitachi rotaries i saw , are PSC motors ... which means that there is no relay , but only a run capacitor.
That means that run capacitor is permanently connected in series with the start winding .
Are there any equations to calculate the needed MFD ?

Here i can find PDF sheets for the SG series and SH series ... All of them PSC also .
