Outcast 2 Piece Tube With DetroitAC Base

Hey guys I am currently in the process of finally getting my tube done, I cant wait to finally put it to good use.

I thought I would post some teaser pictures before I do all the brazing tomorrow .

These pictures dont do the work that DetroitAC did justice! He did a great job on this for such a fair price and fast turn around for a custom piece!

Alright guys I know it took me about a week to get this done and
quite a few hours cleaning it up because well..... I'M A NOOB when
it comes to building these things as it is my first one I built, and
as you can tell from the pictures some of my brazing skills are not
the best :rolleyes:

Anyways here it is in all its glory! thanks again to DetroitAC :toast:

Here is the tube after being brazed... yes I know my skills arnt the
best but I am getting better. Note the EXCESS amount of brazing
on the hold down..:D

Next step was to lapp the bottum, this was fairly easy becasue of DetroitsAC's skills..

Here is the systems the tube is going to be used on, hopefuly i can really push the e6700!! the phase isnt quite cutting it at the moment.:cool:

Alright I have one more thing, and I need you guys input on
this matter, as i have already said I am a noob to building
these tubes, and I didnt have the quipment to properly purge
the inside on the tube while brazing... soooo I still have a
slight oxiidation problem (see picture) I have tried vinigar
multiple time and it sees to be working but i was wondering if
there might be a better solution to gett ALL of this junk out!!
I want Detroits base to work to its full potential!!! Any Ideas???
PLease let me know. THen next step i might try is some sort of
electrolisis (spelling?) IDK please give some input!

I have some rods that have silver in them but I dont know what %. What would you guys recommend?

Contact surface is definatly big. Good luck with the rest and please post the results when you`re done :)

Very nice, Detroit AC does beautiful work and is very pleasant and professional to deal with. I have been in communication with him on a base for a gpu container and was very impressed with his level of professionalism. Please post pics and results when you get it done.

gloatlizard, the fins are 0.015in(0.38mm) wide, 0.05in(1.27mm) tall, 0.04in(1.02mm) gap in between them.

Id also like to know whats the best to use for brazing pots?

Because its only copper to copper brazing, I am guessing you would only need 15% silver rods with some flux too?

i hope that in those gaps between the fins won't form N2 gas bobbles that should make difficult the contact with the LN2

at liquid nitrogen temps Cu has a better thermal conductivity then silver... :fact:

up to about -150 ºC silver is better.. below that Cu...

I think a center core of copper would help with a bit of load temps as well.

This is very true I love his work! I will have pictures of the pot very soon.

I am still working at getting all the oxidation off of the inside, vinegar seems to be working good but im having trouble getting all of the oxidation between the rings in the base, so all I can do is let it sit with the vinegar in it longer.

Why you didn`t purged it while brazing ? :)

I'd try one of the cleaners for copper used by plumbers, it contains Nitric acid and should take care of that.

ketshup does clean copper too ;)

but it's not the same corrosion like water-copper, maybe sandblasting will be the only option :)
