That's probably another reason why DFI is the only mobo manufacturer producing an intel board using an out of house chipset. They've seem to stay on the amd side and what relationship DFI has with Intel is surely going to strenghten through this.
Too bad if the rumours are true about this being the last chipset however, that doesn't count out the fact that whatever ATI had in the works wouldn't be thrown out the window ESPECIALLY since AMD is Intel's major competitor.
I hope that someone builds a board with this chipset. It totally rocks for Core 2. I wish I could tell people all the features that ATI crammed into the reference board. If DFI does only a half assed job it will be an awesome board. (So I expect good things from the DFI board.)
Main reason DFI is willing to take the chance on the ATI chipset is that they are a Tier 2 mobo maker. What's Intel going to do? Short their supply of chipsets so they can't build boards for OEM shipments? Being that they have no major OEM customers...not a deal. For Asus it WOULD be a big deal. If anyone remembers back when the Athlon first launched Asus put the boards in a white box with no branding. No info on their site and they even covered up there logo on the board. All so to not anger Intel.
I just hope that the chipset makes the light of day. The enthusiasts will miss out if it does not.

So im putting up a poll with a yes or no answer. Please also include the amount that you would be willing to part with (dont go crazy and say you will put in $100 or something, this should really be a group effort and not be left up to a handfull of people) and once we see that we have enough people that say yes, we can figure out the fine details to do with collection, purchase, and shipping with the help of the mods (probably be best to have one of the mods, just because of the reputation factor...i doubt everyone would send ME $10 for example...cause who am I?).

I have worked with DFI over the last year. If this guy is in tech support in the US they very well might not have a chip. Most Asian based tech companies run their US branches like a separate company. Many times they are treated like a third party distributor than an office branch. I know that at least one company that is popular "sells" their motherboards to the US branch. Accounting, sales and tech support are all separate from the parent company.Quote:
