Asus P5b Vanilla Stuck @2.6GHz

Hi everyone, New to OC. Just Build my first system. I am stuck @2.6GHz (326*8).My pc wouldn't post over 330*8. I guess I am doing something wrong. Please help me out. Thanks.

disable spread spectrum, set ram freq to lowest possible (1:1), set C1E support to disabled, set execute disable bit to disabled. and try again.
also set boot fsb to 334 or higher.

Set configure DRAM by speed to Enabled... i could not post high fsb with my p5b deluxe unless i let the board decide the timings.

Thanks guys for your help. Now @2.7ghz stable. I tring to get 2.8Ghz. My Cpu V is 1.45 .. Is it safe? Also, What is the highest safe V I can use? Please let me know. Thanks.

stealer, use speedfan or whatever to monitor vcore.
you'll see that P5B undervolts a lot.
with that cooling you have - 3.2-3.5ghz prime stable is realistic.

Is it safe now to up the Cpu V to 1.47-1.5? Can you guys please help me out with MEM Timings? I realy wantto run my E64000 @2.8ghz.

lets see a cpuz screen for mem timings. then we can help you. You might need to run a divider on the memory at first so you can find your max cpu speed. then do the memory last. you can increase the vcore just keep an eye on the temps.

Try adjust to 400fsb, most likely you will pass all tests.
My E6300 under P5B cannot stable in 330-399fsb, but it is extreme stable for 400+ fsb.
Before going to such hish fsb, remember set ram to 1:1 and probably add a little voltage it it fails.

My Pc won't post over 360*8 .. Tried 400*8 same problem. I guess my ram isn't good enough. I tring to make it stable @2.8ghz. can you gues please help me with the mem timings so that I can run at 2.8ghz. thanks.

Oh..I notice that some of your mem-timings are using its default WORNG values.:(
Try to use this software in windows environment to see the actual values.

Copy those values to a piece of paper and then set accordingly in bios.
I think the unstable problem is due to mis-setting of mem.:toast:

You ram is good when compare to mine.

Thanks for the info. I changed my mem values but still unstable @2.8ghz. Go Sp2004 both core failed after 15 sec. I guess I have to stick with 2.7Ghz :(

This board is cheaper than p5b deluxe around $70 but overclock almost the same with p5b deluxe. I see few people in forum can go up to 500FSB with E6300. I guess your problem is the RAM, the max for Corsair around 1.9v if you go higher than 1.9v it will be crash.

965 chipset dont alow the use of anything less than 1:1, it only lets you use multipliers.

no way dude if you have a week 26 cpu you have to get it at least to 3.2ghz prime stable.

be aware of the vdroop because if you set 1.5v in bios , the most likely is that you'l get 1.42v under load.

set all the memrory timings manually in bios like this ---> 4-4-4-12-4-42-3-10-5-13 it worked for me, before i discovered that timings my rig wouldn't prime for 5 seconds. after that, its hard as a rock.

try skkiping the range between 330/400 start from 405.

BTW what program are you using to check temps?? i used a BT here and mine got prerry much warmer than yours. running @ stock now. WC next week :banana:

I believe what is holding you back from your overclock is not being able to up the mch voltage. I know that I cannot boot with mch at stock voltage and I don't have to run near that much vcore thru the cpu.

It's probably your memory that hold you back a bit.

Try lowering the Vcore and see if you can get it stable.

I have an E6600 stuck at 3Ghz because of my OCZ Plat ram that don't want to run 1:1.

Thanks everyone for your kind help. I will try 405*8 now ... Last time I tried 400*8 my post didn't post. I am using Speedfan,Cpuz, Go Sp2004 and super Pi.
In Speedfan, its says my coreA is 2.7v and coreB3.7 .. how do i find the totall V? Do you guys any other good software to see the totall V? Thanks.

use asus probeII, if i remember correctly, speedfan didnt show cpu voltage with P5B.
or was it cpu temp? or both :)

Speedfan isn't 965P compatible.
