Finished!! E6600 at 3.33GHz on P5WDG2-WS Pro

Okie dokie!

I finally finished my compuer rebuild!!! For those that helped me out in my two previous threads, here and here, thank you a million, could not have figured this out alone, and here are the pictures I promised!

Also, none of this would have been possible without the help of Ranger XLT who stayed up with me for 4 nights to teach me how to put this together and how to do the tweaking and overclocking.

FSB of 370 -> 3.33 GHz (Stable, he made me run Orhtos all night :p:)
VCore of 1.35 volts
Memory at 925 Mhz 2.25 volts
4-4-4-8 Timings
PCI-Express at 110 MHz

Not sure what else to include or not :p:

The fun part was when I loaded Oblivion for the first time... Double the framerate at 2560x1600 over my FX-55!!!!

Not much more than was originally produce from the PC Power and Cooling power suppply, that thing was noisy to begin with.

Any thoughts on how to get the graphics card in position 1 cooler? Since there is so little room between the cards, it runs about 12C hotter than the one next to it, and the overall lack of room makes both cards run a lot warmer than on the old motherboard that was more spread out. XFX told me that temperatures of 75C on the card were okay, but that just sounds nutty to me:rolleyes:

Those fans on the side are going to cause an overly perturbed airflow in your case and probably hurt the cooling of your system. If you do plan on using them they should be blowing out and you should disconnect the rear exhaust fan. Otherwise you are going to create a bidirectional airflow that will cause hotspots around the board.

How exactly does airflow work with 4x120mm fans on the side case panel? Nice OC.

I didn't bother zooming on the picture, looks like they are filtered so are probably blowing air in, which is a BAD idea. Not sure who came up with that design but it is surely not somebody who has taken even a rudimentary fluid mechanics course.

If they can't be turned around, then I would disconnect them completely.

Its hard to tell if there is a fan in the front of the case, if not what you can do is (while looking at the "fan door" in closed position) disable the left side fans and leave the right side blowing in. Make sure your fan on the cpu is pushing towards the scythe and the exhaust fan you could leave running. A strong front input fan would still work better but if there isn't one what I've outlined is your best choice.

fresh air blowing onto the motherboard will not cause hot spots :cool: Pertrubing airflow if anything mixes areas up. But more exhaust couldnt hurt, do you have room on the case roof?

Very nice setup, I like the extreme case. Push the OC higher. With that cooling you should be safe to run 1.6 Vcore or higher... and you should easily hit 400+ fsb.

I would say you'd be better off with watercooling though,seems to me that'll it'll be a great project for you and it will help out controlling your temps more than your current setup.Good luck...and by christ you are gorgeous.:D

Just a thought: what if you lower your HDs and have another fan blowing from front to back?

Also, how do you like the board? I just put my rig together and it is not funny replacing RAMs because of the gfx in slot 1, and that gfx is hard to remove without removing the other gfx... And how to reach this things that locks the gfxs... :(

^^ definetly would be a great water cooled case. I'd love to utilize a dual rad for the GTX's and NB, a single rad for the cpu, and dual mcp 350's.

As far as getting the upper gtx cooler, i dont think you can do much more with that near zero spacing than with those fans you've already got from the side panel. Its ok for them to run that hot. I mean hell, x1900's run up to 95c with stock cooling, and they're fine... for now. Its ok, i guess, if you dont plan on keeping those cards for more than a couple years.

Also, the 120 on the back of the case looks really loud... am i wrong?

this image looks a bit worrying to me

have a look at the capacitor on the right side.........it seems as if the heatsink is sitting on it and may not be applying equal pressure on that side of the mount..............donno

1.6V is not safe to run 24/7. Simple as that.

@ Dinos: The heatsink looks to be offset by the cap.

I can flip any of those side fans to blow out if I want.

Also I have 2 fans intaking on the front, both stock that came with the case.

So my fan setup looks pretty much like that picture from Cooler Master, minus the side fan in the top left position and the fan on the front at the very top.

So would people recommend using the sides as exhaust? Or at least the bottom left one in front of the graphics cards?

Oh, and Dino, I removed the first picture (the one you edited in photoshop) becuase that was my first attempt at mounting it. After Ranger yelled at me (in a most kind and loving way :D) I remounted it two more times.

1.6 is fine to see how far you can actually overclock. OC'ing 101: find your limits and then pick your 24/7 setup. It's hard to say what vcore is not safe 24/7 since no one has yet to burn out a c2d. But, if you burn out after 5 years you can always replace it with the exact same chip thats probably a 1/4th the cost by then.
