Gigabyte DS3 BIOS Settings Thread with Screen Shots

Here are my BIOS settings for the Gigabyte DS3 with BIOS F4a. I couldn't overclock worth a damn until I found this combination. I was stuck at 300 * 7, which was horrible of course. Hopefully this thread can help some people!

I can raise it to 475 x 7 without any volt mods at all, all normal.
also for SATA port 0-3, I set it to ENABLED so no big deal I guess

I cannot believe your VCore, I have to do 1.5V just to reach 3.3GHz 367x9! Do you think by overvolting the FSB and VMCH, the VCore doesn't need to be as high?

If I use more VCORE or VMEM, my system becomes unstable immediately. I don't think my Scythe Mine is good enough for 1.4V+ VCORE because my CPU does better with less voltage. Also, I have bumped up the MCH, but I also have a 40mm fan blowing on it to help compensate for the extra heat:

Thanks for the pics...I need to NOT compare your chip to mine. These retail E6600's are completely different when it comes to OCing.

lol my E6300 benches at 3D/SuperPI at 3465MHz with default vcore.......i'm gonna undervolt it to see how low i can go :D

wish i had a board that can do 600MHz FSB

helpful guide. Had a little problem getting over 3ghz with the same setup myself, until last night. Might have to try that 40mm fan idea, I could cook bacon on mine :cool:

do best buy, radio shack, or those type of places sell 40mm fans? I don't feel like ordering something that small online. Also i don't have a hot glue gun...any other ways to mount it?

I turned the fan slightly on an angle and used two screws to mount it. The screws were slightly bigger than the holes on the fan so they provide a stable mount with no wobble. The screws were also big enough to screw snugly into the space between the fins on the heatsink. I screwed both down until the fan was level:

any idea how much active cooling on the NB helped your OC?

thats weird. i got the same board but it looks like you got ALOT more options than i do on the overclocking tab

You have to push Ctrl+F1 in the main BIOS screen to enable the advanced options ;)

Hopefully Gigabyte turns that crap off in a later BIOS. It's pretty annoying!

Anyone have any good guides for a noobie OCer? I have ds3, e6400, xp-90c +80mm fan, 2gb TeamGroup 667 3-3-3-8, 7900gt card.

I'm wondering whats the best way for a first timer to go about doing this...ive been researching a bit into ram ocing but im still a noob. I want to get anywhere between 3ghz to 3.4ghz. :)
Also if I play around with bios ocing functions and restart i dont want to really wrong the risk of :banana::banana::banana::banana: things up enough to mandate cmos reset jumper :) thanks. Any suggestions?

WOOT thx for the settings - i apprieciate it when i get my DS3 and my E6400 i'll definetly. do something similar and if i get stuck on the bios settings definetly will help - thx so much-- BTW don't delete the hosting picture =P

anyone have any idea of how best to decent oc e6400, ds3, 2gb teamgroup xtreem 667 3-3-3-8. I only been able to get it up to 2.6ghz 8x333fsb, stock volts...Im a noob ocer...so im not really sure what settings work best.

im trying to learn and all, but searching through the forums here hasn't yielded any helpful results, I have only got minimal info from google, and more so from here :)

Ugh...I've got windows installed, but prime fails quickly. I did a memtest and that failed. Raised the vdimm to 2.0 on this Corsair XMS 2x1024 CL4 and it lit up just as well. The CPU-Z shows SPD @ CL5 and the ram's over a year old. Silly Fry's...maybe PC Club has something better?
