replaced the stock tim with AS5 ?
What monitering program are you using? Does the heatsink feel hot to the touch?
You can't reseat the heatsink without putting new TIM (thermal paste on) .. I would get some Artic Silver 5 (as Supertim0r suggested) and try that. Put some one the cpu and spread it around with an old credit card.Quote:

i really dont know what do.
if you're using the heatsink that came with the cpu and easytune is showing you those temps, its not mounted correctly or the thermal grease that came with it is gone. You will need to remount with as5 or another thermal grease asap - I'd turn off the computer if it's actually idling at 55c.
im using AS5 already. How should the Stock HSF be mounted? Ive redid it 4-5 timesQuote:

55c, while it's higher then most overclockers are comfortable with, it's perfectly safe your proc is not 'overheating'. Thermal speec of C2D is 61.5c. If your serious about overclocking, then as a few other folks suggested, invest in a aftermarket cooler.
As for mounting the stock Intel HSF, ensure all 4 push pins are fully inserted through the mounting holes.
heh my northwood is sitting her idling at 44C. LOLQuote:
