Here I passed the chipset limit. But I have no idea how I just lost 2000mb/s bandwidth now. Default of my memory is 6000mb/s OCed its sipose to be 8000mb/s. Some error I supose in sandra. I was useing a out of date ver of CPUz. :slap: Stupid thing wont let me validate that I hit 2995mhz. >__> :slapass: Darn. Well I'll try it again later.

could this 3800 am2 be the 65nm chip we've been waiting for? where did you get this chip and how recent? those are some nice memory bandwidth you got there :). i'm getting excited :). could you please give us some details of your memory settings? there's a deal on a pair of ocz ddr2 pc6400. i'm thinking of getting the kit.

Got it a few days ago. But I would wait for the real EE vers. I may get one myself. Amazing OCer. Just something with my board is limiting it. Timmings really don't matter for AM2 its all about the speed you can clock the memory at. 5-5-5-18-23 Timmings mine are at to get to 1000mhz. Its Gskill HZ models. Stock timmings are 4-4-4-10 or something like that.
I bet it could go into the 3ghz mark like it was nothing 3.5ghz at max volts. It performs oddly the same as a FX-62 in the fact that it can use the same volts at the same clock speed. Windsor cores are really awesome. Because they are just under clocked FX chips. :cool: I really want a mobo that won't limit me thats Matx. Must get the DFI infinity matx when it comes out... yess... That board won't hold me back.

thanks for the info :). you should wait for the dfi nf590 board for some ocing goodness. i wonder when will that board be out. how come there are not that many 35w am2 chips out there. i already have a 4400 x2, otherwise i would definitely jump on this 3800 am2 deal from monarch. monarch doesn't have that many different models of am2 to choose from. i'd like a 1MB l2 cache model am2.

The cache isn't really needed anymore. Only does a 1% increse in performance with the extra L2 anyways. But thats for AM2. 939's I'm sure need it more then AM2 does. 35Wers just came out. It will be awile before newegg gets them. Yeah but I need a mATX. Got to be as compact as possible inside a small case. lol
Heres the thing to remember tho. The 35wers, they have a max case temp of 80C and operate at 2ghz on 1.0v volts. Thats a OCers dream.

I beieve it is more than 1% on some benchmarks, IIRC. I don't have any links handy though.... I hope to compare the two cache sizes on AM2 for myself soon.

Anyone thinking the DDR2 memory controller and the looser timings is having a positve impact on AMD's ability to release higher mhz chips? FX-64 is due next week @ 3ghz. I'm sure it will do 3.2 on air.

The strange part is I just tryed stock volts of a EE ver... And my chip can run at 1.025v at lease on 2.0Ghz... looks like this IS a EE ver in some way. Would explain the insane clocks I'm getting on just about stock volts of a FX-62. Or is why all AM2 chips can perform like this. They are really the same, just programed to run at a different stock voltage aready capable of such OCing. I'm sure they all can take the same volts lower or higher. Unless I'm just lucky to get a FX like chip.
FX-64 comes out aready wow thats like the fastest FX launch I heard. Whats next the FX-66 3.2ghz 2 months after. Then 65nm FX-68 at 3.4ghz... Oh man now thats the difference where they will start to match conroes. Say a 40% increase in speed from the change is sipose to happen. Wonder how badness K8L will be with L2 and L3 ontop of conroe like arcitecture. AMD is getting intresting. The whole reason I got AM2. <Smirk>
But yeah just think what my chip could do on a board with no limit. This is what AM2 should really be like atleast a good sign. I'm sure this chip can do 3.5ghz at least. Well we'll see about that when somebody gets a better bios for this thing or I use a DFI board. This thing can still do a lot on air ya know.

Gee my brother just got his Conroe 6600 using a bad axe M/B . He thought about the AMD 3800X2 . But I said the 6600 was A little more $$ but more future proof . He has it running at 6800 speed. Man he is a happy camper. I am glad you like your AMD X2 it seems like a nice low power processor. Though it really can't compete with Conroe's . My man concern with the X2's is when R600 releases from ATI they just won't have the gaming speed of a O/C 6300 Conroe. Hay somebody has to buy the outdated CPU'S . I think you bought the perfect system for you. Your young this should prove to be a good learning lesson for you.

If biostar fixes this bios. I won't upgrade the mobo. i just want better features because once I find the mobo I like I'll have it for the next 3 years. Sorry to say this but intel mobos are not future proof. You want 4 cores forget it. Needs a new chipset means new mobo. AM2 right now... 65nm, Rev G, Rev H, K8L, 45nm, 4 cores, AM3 forwards compattible. Yeah no more swapping a mobo out for me just to do a cpu upgrade. lol
Conroe is nice now but it can not compete with that kind of upgradeability. I used a E6700 at a store they demoed. Only 10% difference I felt at best from mine. In the real world sadly I couldn't tell the difference. BTW why is conroe in MY OC topic? This is the AMD area... I can wait for power. All I need is AMD. I aready have enough as it is. But when I pick up a K8L in 6 months from now. I'll be more then happy. Wow ppl who have AM2 can get all the way upto K10 cpus in 2008.
Conroe isn't future proof at all. Its only a fact. Show me a mobo that will support a quadro and Duo2 please. Then something 6 months after that. lol Besides ATi's and Nvideas features on their chipsets are way better then what intel could ever show me. I went with AM2 to be future proof and to have the features I like from them. I didn't get it to beat conroe or to perform like one. Thats all it has going for it is its performance. Not everybody is going to just jump for something with a minor difference in performance. Conroe isn't god. Even it has limits. Maybe if it had 100% performance difference then AMD's but its smaller then its cracked upto be.
I couldn't even tell the bloody difference. Conroe won't last 6 months. Just wait until quadro comes out. Ppl with intels be trading in their mobos and conroes for one of those. Its silly you have to get a new 200 buck mobo just to upgrade a cpu to another cpu line. Thats hularious. AM2 supports like the next 4 cpu lines for the next 3 or more years. If I want to upgrade it won't cost me more then 150 bucks. You need 400 or 600 bucks for just a new cpu and mobo. If quadros really will be cheap. More around 1000 bucks. Its the mobo changeing thats my only problem. For once intel please just make a mobo on the same socket that will support cpus for atleast 3 years not 6 months.
Its like you need to upgrade for every cpu line. Same socket, P4 90nm to 65nm = new mobo, to Pentium D 800 = new mobo, PD 900 = new mobo, conroe = new mobo, quadro = new mobo. Shell I continue? If it wasn't enough with the poor FSB support and crap chipsets. Conroe is the only thing intel ever did right for the past 4 years. And they still can't get it right with mobo issues. I won't swap my mobo every 6 months just cus something better comes out. But atleast my mobo can support real futureness and 2 generations with 6 or so cpu lines for the next 3 years. Saying conroe is future proof is like a joke because of its mobo limitations for the next cpu line. lol Lets just see how future proof conroe is when 65nm cpus come out and K8L... then 4 cores, then 45nm's then K10 and so forth. But looky I still have the SAME mobo. Isn't that real furture proof ness. Its upgradeability.
A 10% boost over AMD isn't that exciting even if it was 30% I'd still go AMD. Conroe will be out classed soon. K8L may not be faster maybe it will blow its socks off. Thats not the reason its the features that make the experionce better then the performance alone. Chipsets, mobo livespan, upgradeability, and so forth. And intel just doesn't do it for me anymore. At one time I use to be all for intel. I like both but I'd never go intel again. The difference really isn't worth it. You'd be paying 2x more for just the mobo from intel anyways. AMD has much better over all prices. I saved atleast 200 bucks by going with AMD. Besides I just got a 1000 buck cpu for 150 bucks so I'm not complaining. Besides the mobo holding me back. Its not the CPU thats at any limit yet. Damn BIOS. >_> Somebody tryed a DFI board on this cpu. Got to like 3.2ghz or more with it. And 350HTT. Same CPU. I can't even get past 280 half the time.
But I did afew times to 3ghz. This bios deff sucks. Has a damn wall or something. Its almost like the 210HTT wall in the early bios.

I didn't need the extra volts but at the time I had to put more volts into the chipset to get this high cus of the bios issues it has of going over 280 no matter what you do it won't post. I had to use clockgen to get this far and upto 3 ghz afew times.

Is it only me or you are fast forwarding?
Rev.G (65nm K8) is due in 4-6 months.
K8L is due second half of 2007.
K10 is due in 2010 time frame.
K8L will be socket compatbile with both AM2/AM3, but will only run HTT3 on AM3.
K10 is so far out that no one has any official words yet.

1. Kentsfield (MCP quad core Conroe) can work on any Conroe motherboards.
2. I notice minor difference on Windows/Excel/DivX players from changing Athlon XP 1800+ to Athlon 64 3200+ AM2.

What exactly makes you believe that AM2 motherboards will be OK with DDR3 . Got a link. I would like to read that. Does X2 M/B support AM2 ? Serge you have a long 1 1/2 years to wait for K8L on the desktop. Why is socket F delayed the second time? I am betting you actually believe AMD will merge with ATI. LOL won't happen . Canadian government won't allow their No. one tech company to be sold. If they do OK it. Look for other bidders to step up to the plate . If ATI is sold it will go to the highest bidder. Their rumors of Samsung buying . Also China is interested the Godson cpu maker. Hell Intel may bid just to piss AMD off . 7 billion dollars to intel is chump change. China can easily bid 7 billion or more. The share holders go with highest bidder. I really don't believe the FCC will allow this transaction anyway. One thing I am pretty sure of ATI will go for more than 5.2 billion dollars.
Serge you got to look at the big picture. a cpu is a cpu no matter who makes it. For people that want the best right now its Conroe. In a year and a half It will likely be Penryn that getts everyone's att. Maybe K8l . But K8l just doesn't look that strong to me and many others . This has nothing to do with fanboys. Its about right now and right now the smart money goes to Conroe.
I am going to buy a godson 4 next year(2008) its 64 bit and rumored to be X86. You can buy the whole pc for around $150 . I don't know why they didn't make godson 3 x86. I guess they want to get it right first. Competition is good and I am hoping China can really bring the prices down with Godson 4. By 2008 china is projected to be the no 2 supplier of cpu's in the world.

Im running the custom BIOS on my TFORCE6100 AM2 aswell. Thank GOD for those RH guys and opening up the memory timings....But my 3800+ SC maxes out at 2.7ghz at 1.475v, anything over 2.7 isnt 3D stable :( Im waiting for someone to pick this 3800+ up.
