P5W DH Vdimm voltage 2.4v = 2.15

Ok i decided to see what voltage reading i get on my Vdimm compared to bios settings. here is what i found.

2.4V setting in bios =
2.17v Idle
2.14v load

2.2v setting in bios =
2.01v Idle
1.96v load

So all this time i thought i was running my ram at 2.4v it was actually 2.17v

Asus board droop too much , u should worry about vcore as it droop even more .,..

Can you take some measurements of the Vcore as well? Ill check mine as well and compare. I need the measuring points if you have them.

yeah vcore droops heaps as well as much as .250v

mine is fine your psu is :banana::banana::banana::banana: maybe i set 2.2 in bios im getting 2.21 on a multimeter i would like to check my vcore also to see if this so called vdrop is true

yea, what is the deal with this Vdroop??? You figure you pay so much for a board and it shouldn't have issues like that.

BTW maybe your temps too high?

My PSU is fine never had a problem with it before it is a 580W TAGAN.

its not the PSU guys... wait, unless you have a 2.2v rail...

EDIT actually they did have those OCZ booster things (almost bought one) that plugs directly into PSU to give the RAM its power but thats an unrelated affair i think

the 580 tagan is the old 580 OCZ power supply, or 560 or whatever it was.
tagan is the old OCZ powerstream so.

its asus, you can 100% guarentee you will have vdroop and vdimm droop/

that vdimm reading your taking cant be right man. im sorry but as much as i hate asus, i dont even believe thats right.

i can see its possible, its asus.. but wow thats a massive difference in voltages

call support monday and do an rma.. the vdimm is useless when its not even anywhere near as close to the bios setting your using.

and the vcore droop of 0.25 ? no i thnk maybe you mean 0.025.

0.25 means that 1.4v at idle and 1.15 under load. your system wouldnt even run if that was true. the cpu would instantly bail and the system would reboot.

yeah i meant 0.025:slapass: . 1.425 in bios and 1.408 in windows under load.

mine droops about .03ish, thats in addition to the .02ish that it can go down just from random fluctuation... all this in addition to the .04ish undervolt... really sucks.

honestly though
if this is so easy to fix
why doesnt asus just make it that wayin the first place?

try 0.05 that i had on 3 asus P5WD2 -E Prem boards. they all averaged 0.05 and 2 would do 0.07.

i despise asus and their unacceptable hardware quality control
for years, even before the P4800 days they had horrible vdroop and even to this day years later they are STILL infamous for their vdroop and manditory modding of their motherboards to get the voltage regulation that you paid for in the beginning.

i find it absolutely unacceptable and appauling that they would after this long still be producing products of such a sh|tty magnitude.

I agree it is unacceptable and appauling. I will stay clear of asus from now on if i can avoid it.

Who are you comparing 'Asus' too? that's what I would like to know...

first off, I used to have an Abit AA8XE 925XE 3rd eye board, and then after having major problems with it I purchased a P5WD2- Premium. The difference in quality between the two was ENORMOUS! I think Asus makes some amazing quality boards, compared to ANY other company I have seen.

THe only ones, in my opinion, that come close to quality are the NEW gigabyte boards...But i want to know where you guys are getting the 'high quality' boards, since asus is so 'Sh|tty' as you say...

I have not measured my voltages but using AiBooster, PC Probe 2, and Cpu-z, I get fluctuations up to .09v from idle to full load on vcore.

I also agree this should not be happening with all the $ they cost.

But I also wonder, what else you gonna use?
Does everyones boards droop? I never heard of this or looked at it before I found this site. ( Great site BTW ) I have learned much!

The Vcore droop on my P5WDH was terrible, i'd set 1.575 in bios and get about 1.51 under load.

I get 2,41v in vdimm @idle, just measured... About vcore, it droops a lot, 1,425 in bios = 1,35 in aibooster = 1,37 DMM @idle, full vcore is about 0.05 lower... :stick: Too bad the vdroop mod needs to replace a resistor... :(
