0401 works with step 4 chips.
I find 0088 the best for my purpose :toast:
Well just wanted to give you a hint to post it over there ;) as its the p5w thread. And you said you read the whole thread.. well there you can read till 0088 bios supports step5 b1 cpu's...Quote:

I think you have to wait until newer bios will come out. 0088 wont support it. So just hold on :)
well, if the BIOSes that support step 5 also support retail, they should work fine, although i'm not sure about my first statement.
Get all the BIOSes from here:

I know for sure that BIOS 0701 will post with a retail X6800 as that is what I am using. I will start a thread later this evening with my overclocking results so far with my X6800 under watercooling:)
I ended up with 701 also, but how did you flash it to 701 with the 6800? Did you try 502 first?Quote:

Well on my replacement board bios 502 would not boot the 6800. So after a quick celeron flash to 701 it did work again. So I'm not sure if all or just 6800 conroes (Retail B2 ver) will not boot on the 502 shipping bios. I guess Asus tech is going to receive alot of calls on this once Conroe is shipping in mass.
Yea this seriously sucks ass. I'm so lucky I was able to borrow a Pentium-D 805 from work to flash to 0701!

Lol. I'm feeling kinda nervous now about the board I just ordered from ebay (new-sealed). I will not have another 775 chip to use for flashing.

Or that they should have supplied retail code to manufacturers earleir? or Aus for being well, Asus. :nono: Eiether way, IK never had this sort of stupid issue with AMD chips ES, retail or otherwise. Even unknown cpus would at least post.
I've kinda been looking for the Cheapest Celeron D processor (used even) to use until my preorder ships anyway.Quote:

We need to ask him about keeping the BIOS chips on hand for sale. It should be cheaper than buying another 775 chip just to flash.Quote:
