Conroe and related over pricing

Okay, looking around, I've noticed anything releated to Conroe is WAY over-priced. I bougt my Bad Axe a month ago for $200 and now it's at $250. P5W DH is $260, and an INFINITY BOARD is $260. This isn't looking good to me. I hope people don't buy these at these ridiculously high prices; becasue if they do, they'll stay there...

When Newegg launched AM2, I saw three prices for the M2N32-SLI Deluxe that day. It went from $200 to $225 to $250 all in one day. Now it's at $200. I will only go Conroe if I can get a P5B Deluxe for < $200 and an E6600 for < $350. For that money I could get a X1900CF and would help performanec much more; I just think I'd feel better about myself with Conroe.

compares to:

Asus P5W DH $240
Conroe E6600 $329

Who's overpriced?

Oh and in the above comparison, the Conroe biotch slaps the FX...

I agree with jbizzler on the pricing of the mobos. The mobos are WAY over priced.
charlie, the only reason the AMD one was more expensive is because of the stupid price of the FX 60 when compared with the E6600. Conroe itself has good prices, but most of the mobos we are seeing right now are priced poorly :(. Hopefully the newer 965 boards coming out will change that.

The boards ARE overpriced. They always stick it to early adopters.

Here in DK, Intel mobos have been overpriced for a long time... Nothing new...

Good memory is on the expensive side as well, and it seems that you do get a substantial boost with it. Going for the cheapo DDRII sticks isnt gonna be wise.

Um. No. Try more like:

AMD Opteron 165 (s939) $300

I would say more like

4400+ 460.00 and Ultra-D 123.00 = 583.00 not too overpriced

and the FX-60 is 814.00

If the FX-60/62 can't even match the E6600, how do you think the Opty 165 will survive?

Lol 165/4400+ is even worse

Because extreme OCs are practically a guarantee? Yes, the E6600 is better (I sold my 165 for the E6600 I have on preorder), but price-wise, the 165 is more fair to compare to than the FX-60/62.

Look at it this way. I sell my Pentium D 930 and D975XBX for about $300. I buy a $250 motherboard and have $50 left. Then I have to use about $300 of my own money for an E6600 proc when I'm happy with my own. If the boards are that expensive, no way for me.

When I tried using this arguement about the preslers OC , people would tell me that stock performance was more important... Anway, Conroe OCs much better than the Opty or any A64/X2. You could go for the lowest end conroe and OC it to a point where it beats any AMD cpu.

You alread have a rev. 302 badaxe, so you can just mod it. No need to buy a $250 motherboard.

BS, 165 OCs better if you go by % over stock (and probably about the same if you go by frequency over stock). Again, yes, Conroe is overall better. But comparing it to a $1000+ CPU is unfair.

That link has a 2.4 Ghz E6600 doing 3.8 on air and 4.3+ with better cooling. Can an opty do a 1.4 Ghz OC on air? Even if it could, remember that the Conroe manages to do a better OC while having a shorter pipeline and being more efficient.

The Conroe could go even more, but memory and motherboards start to become the limits due to the high FSBs. You remember the 5.2 Ghz Conroe?

Who cares about percent wise? A presler will OC way better than a Conroe in terms of percent increase over stock speeds but that doesn't mean its better...
And the conroe will probably beat the Opty 165 in percent increase over stock too.

On 12/2003 I ordered an IC7-Max3 for $201.99 according to my NewEgg account. This was the cheapest price at the time according to PriceWatch. In two and a half years I only paid roughly $30 more for an enthusiast board (I picked up the P5W DH Deluxe). That's not that much more considering some of the other price increases in all the other parts that we need.

IMO ram and motherboard prices are better/less increased compared to psu, cpu (though July price drops should make this better for both camps), and video cards. A true price complaint should be laid in the video card department, that's where we're getting raped over the coals at.
