Still haven't installed windows yet, probably flash the bios and figure the bios and memtest first. Seems the board came with 618 bios. So might need to flash to 908 or 1304 before installing windows.

Been playing with ITK to make custom bioses to flash to. Found out you can only flash to a custom bios if you existing bios is of the same version. Otherwise, at flash time you will get a error message saying 'incorrect reference bios revision'.

guess memtest86+ v1.65 doesn't work with conroe yet LOL

Just flashed to official 1304 bios, then flashed to my custom 1304 bios. Working fine.

I haven't shorted the oc debug pin yet - apparently you can do this with conductive ink pen (don't have one) or pencil too (won't try yet).

Instead i used ITK to customise the bios to change default vcore from 1.242v real to 1.40v in ITK, which is now showing 1.359v vcore real in bios.

Guys, how far can clockgen in windows go for 1067fsb strap within windows oc' ?

266fsb + 30% gets me to 346fsb. So far clockgen i managed to move from 346fsb to 360fsb. Just wondering how high i can go before needing 1333fsb strap ?

First look....very very preliminary!

Well i tried shorting the oc debug pin with pencil as i don't have conductive ink pen and don't know how to do volt mods LOL. Unfortunately, pencil method didn't unlock the vcore setting :(

So stuck with modding 1304 bios for 1.475v default vcore which reads in bios as 1.418v vcore real. Still haven't found the stable points for my 2x 256MB Centon PC4300 Advance DDR2 modules yet so just left it at 4-4-4-15 loose timings and set vdimm to 2.1v and see how far i can go.

System:

• E6600 QPGE Step 5 / B1
• Swiftech G4 Storm H20 on cpu
• Intel D975XBX Badaxe rev 304 no physical mods with 1304 modded bios
• 2x 256MB Centon PC4300 Advance DDR2
• 256MB BFG 7800GTX stock hsf
• 320GB Seagate 7200.10 SATA 16MB
• CD-RW drive / FDD
• 700W OCZ GameXStream

Bios settings:

• Strap = 1067FSB fixed since couldn't short oc debug pin
• Burnin = +30% = 266fsb + 30% = 345.5fsb x 9 = 3109mhz boot into windows.
• MCH override voltage = default
• FSB override voltage = default
• Vdimm = 2.1v @4-4-4-15
• Vcore using modded 1304 to default to 1.475v = 1.418v real in bios

Use clockgen to move up from 345.5fsb to ~378fsb for some benchmarks. Managed to pull off single super pi 1M to 8M. 16M rebooted the pc - don't think it's vcore limited but maybe fsb limited at 1067FSB strap, or MCH/FSB override voltage needs increasing ? or Centon memory at 2.1v limited to <378mhz 4-4-4-15 ?

Here's initial 1M to 8M results at 9x 378FSB = 3407mhz clockgen assisted from 345.5fsb to 378fsb.

CPU idle = 37-38C bios / 30-31C windows (everest ultimate ed 2006 v3.0 reported)
CPU load = 33-34C windows

Click on 1M screenie for temps and cpuz reported timings/spd for memory.

vodka, yes oc debug pin you can read about it in freecableguy's rev 302 mod thread.. for non-ES and non- XE/EE cpus you need to short the pin to get vcore options and strap selection...

Yup centon pc4300 ddr2 was at it's limit at 2.1v vdimm with 378mhz 4-4-4-15. I dropped from 533 1:1 ratio to 400 and easily on 1067fsb strap with default mch and fsb voltages hit 9x393fsb

But 9x400fsb rebooted, so maybe need to increase mch and/or fsb override voltages from default ?

One thing i cant tell you Eva, dont use speedfan. It resets vcore to default.

Tightened my timings for 4-3-3-15 at 2.1v @295mhz on 400 divider heh

Raised vdimm to 2.2 and set mem divider back to 533 1:1 for 9x378mhz 4-4-3-15 and look at this wiped off 30 seconds in 32M compared to 9x393fsb (3543mhz) and 295mhz 4-3-3-15 and still using 2x 256MB Centon PC4300 Advance DDR2!

From the tests so far i can conclude for 1067fsb strap the cpu is at least good for 9x393fsb at stock default mch/fsb volts. The Centon PC4300 DDR2 is good for around 382mhz 4-4-3-15 at 2.2v. So now it's time to try some other DDR2 to see how far i can push fsb still at 1067fsb strap with better ram :D

1066 strap goes to about 360-375Mhz depending on the quality of your MCH.

Thanks FCG, looks like i got a good MCH at stock volts to do 382mhz on 1067fsb strap. Maybe 2x256mb modules easier on MCH ?

eva, you're definately going higher due to the smaller memory banks. try driving 2GB and see how high you can go ;)

Yeah seems to be with 2x512mb ddr2, in memtest it freezes at 393fsb but i was using 1067fsb strap and +47%, but +42% worked fine which is 378fsb.

Just flashed to my 2nd custom 1304 bios with default 1333fsb strap and -20% by default for 266fsb and 1.475v vcore (1.418v real). Funny in bios now it says my E6600 is rated at 4.66Ghz LOL

But memtest shows it' correctly by default 266fsb and if i set to -0% burnin, i get 333fsb which is correct for default 1333fsb strap :)

As to the custom 1304 bios based on 1067fsb strap and 1.475v default vcore, SIOUX has a copy of it but he's having troubles flashing due to his denmark region keyboard driver. I think i'll wait till SIOUX has it fixed before i release the bioses just in case other folks might have issues heh.

Do we know what Intel have changed in 5 stepping?
