This is killing me. I can go down the street and buy an xp3000+ right now. But I haven't seen anybody run one of these chips on a prometia or something similar, and I don't want to get one only to find that it won't clock any better than my 2500+. Has anyone used one of these chips, or seen a review where someone put one on a prommy?
Know a certain someone with Barton 2800 but sounds like he is
having probs with stability, he did say he got into windows @ 2625 prommie cooled but sounds like it went belly up quick.
I wish I had one, for some reason I'm thinking 3000Mhz stable with my setup :DQuote:

OPP that's what I'm thinking too. In general it seems that with supercooling you can get the mhz up to the PR-rated speed that amd uses. My xp2000's did 2000, xp2400's did around 2450, xp2700 did 2800, and my barton-2500 does 2500. Bowman has his barton-2800 up around 2800mhz. So surely an XP3000 should do 3ghz.... right??

i dont think the xp3000 will run any faster.:(
amd did not sperate the batches like before.the xp2800 and xp3000 are only 83 mhz between the two my friends.
so they had no need to seperate out the yields of batches.
i am sure the xp2500's were from the lower yielding batches.
like i said 83mhz is nothing.and at this moment 3.0g isnt going to happen with only 2.0volts. these chips do not like voltage at all.
but hey i hope i am wrong.i would like to see 3.0 on a barton.:D
but i am working on a artical now with someone to actually show in benches the differances of performance in the two.but to be honest at this moment i think the barton that i have even running right now at 2.74g stable is no match for my xp2600tbred @2.83g
the test will using a tbred and my barton running at 215x12.5 same boards and memory timing and brands.well will see but i am not sure the barton will show the extra 256k being worth the effort.:)

Looking forward to seeing that 3000 in action :cool: Have my 2800+ pretty stable at 12.5X225 - 2800Mhz with 2.075v. I ran a bunch of Benchies and found clock for clock the barton is on average 3% faster than the Tbred.
The XP3000+ seems stable at 2.4ghz on air. This is at 1.8v vcore using an slk-600 heatsink with a 60mm delta fan (don't remember the part number but it's a finger chomper). The slk-600 is way too small for this chip... and I didn't expect to go much faster than 2.4ghz with this hsf. When I first got my xp2700+ I had trouble breaking even 2.2ghz with this setup. My cpu temp in MBM5 is 56c now. So I still have high hopes for the prometia...

it should go right to at least 2.6 with your prometia.

Well I got the chance to test a 3000 Barton for about an hour today, and ran it with a SLK800 and 43CFM fan on a Magic Pro NF2 mobo. Using 1.87Vcore I managed 13.5x187(2525MHZ). Since this was not my chip I could not do the L3 mod for higher FSB, hence the raised multiplier.
Based on this brief test I would say OPP is not far off the mark with his estimate of 3G.

my bad 3.12 not 3.2 big difference
would be nice if it was usable.but LN and DRY ICE do not count to me.but i did notice the high voltage on a couple of 2.26v vore...if i could get my core to take that voltage i would be there too..
it's the chip not taking over 2.0 volts that kills most of us on air,water,or on a prometia style system..
i havent tried to go past 2.8 in the last coulpe of days.i have been too busy.but i think in a few weeks after the yields pic up maybe at the end of march we will start to see some close to 3.0g speeds on a prometia.
