Looks very interesting, it has 48 PCI-E pipelines so hopefully we will be able to run 16x + 16x when we aren't using Physics.

Looks like a great chipset, I wonder how independent the independent fsb/mem speeds are.

I remember Fugger told about this chipset back in March-April. Looks very promising. And it would be possible to use 16x+16x with 3rd card for Physics calculations pluged in. I just wonder how soon will 6 layers PCB will be out ?

What's the retail on it going to be, $250+ US? Another thing I noticed that is starting to get out of control is this whole "buy XXX brands and they will work better". I'm refering to the automatic PCIe overclocking with ATi cards.

Other than that I'm sure it will be a monster.

The auto OCing is just a response to what nV are doing but I doubt the trend will continue for long. You could easily manully adjust the PCIe frequency if you were using a different brand card as we know now that both sets of hardware support it hehe.

I' more interested in the independent memory OCing. Does this mean we could stop worrying about finding the best divider and just clock it to whatever speed we like (so it becomes like having an adjustable PCI lock)? Or is it that the mem will always stay at stock while you can OC the CPU as far as you want? If it is the first option then I'm moving to AM2 ASAP!

very cool. Intel is looking more and more promissing by the second.

Only thing about pci-e OCing that bovers me - will this only be for GPUs slots ? Won`t this have any side effect on other HW like HDs or other pci-e ad-in cards ?

Not quite correct. This board is for Intel. And Intel doesn`t have build-in mem controller. It`s on a chipset - so ATI can modify it any way they want. AMD won`t have independent clocking ability cos mem controller is in CPU.

Just noticed that there is no mention of the originally rumored DDR3 support.
I am gonna get the DFI R600 board + conroe this summer and then get a cheap gfx card to tide me over to R600 and Physics.
I'm really hoping that the independent mem/fsb drops the use of a divider, but we shall see.
I'm wondering if Crossfire is a requirement before adding the Physics card.

What I ment was that I'd be moving to this platform. AM2 just came out because I was asked to build one for a friend and I was looking at the mobo while I was writing it. Conroe etc looks too good to pass up anyway but I just need funds. Selling my 939 rig looks to be hard although this 3200 clocks quite well but I'm held back by the mobo so I might get something good for that.

So.. you can OC the FSB with one option and the mem in another option! Awesome! Is this a Conroe supporting board?

Thats only the reference board though, hopefully DFI will give us some clearance

so you can use any ati 1xxx card for physics so if i bought a 1600 it would work:D ? if so that would be the best but that means i would have to swicth to ati for dual vid cards:mad:

Man, this is definitely making me think the DFI LP with this chipset will be a kick ass board. I want it! :D
