Well I got one 1.4GHz and one 1.6GHz here and was wondering if there's other people that dared to try some... :D
Here's the 1.4GHz part, MIXIB 0336 "Z", cooled by Tt Silent Boost:

Have you tried the mod to enable the rest of the cache?
Nice o/c btw :)
This is the second thing I'll do with those two after I found out where's the MAX for each of them.... just to check if the cache is all good will there be a penalty in the MAX clock, when I'm using 256k L2.Quote:

I have a 1600 that will do 2.4GHz w/ 1.9v and crappy cooling.
Right now I have it doing a distributed computing project at 1.7v and 2250 WITH the L2 mod(for the extra 192k L2 cache).
So for $42 delivered, I basically have an XP that'll do at least 2.4GHz.
A couple of us have been playing with these over here...

yeah but the cost is so close to the 1700xp's that other than the fun of being able to mod it into the real mc coy the chips are just too close in cost for me to actually buy one.... but deff a killer deal and verry interesting indeed :toast:
later perc,
with the right cooling somebody is going to crack a 100% overclock on the 1400's some day
That may be true for USA, but here in Bulgaria the good 1800+ ( there ain't no 1700+ anymore ) are 60$+.... so one 1.4GHz for 42$ is quite a deal.... and even bigger one if the L2 cache is all good :)Quote:

later perc,
It's really good to see that those Durons like high voltages and MHz.... It's a shame, that I can't have more than 1.75V with that A7N8X Dlx... but hell - that little puppy will go in my main system with some EPoX ( or sumthin' else ) mobo and the P4 goes to the testing system.... don't need so much of a power when watcing movies or listening to a MP3s ;)
"....And then the Duron became an AthlonXP..." :toast:
Well.... now it's time to test if I can reach the same o/c speed as I was reaching before the L2 mod...
....... and back to 2300MHz
I might get one of these for a bit of cheap fun, plus I just killed my test duron in a very stupid way (dont ask, i was clumsy)
It might be fun to try and get a 100% overclock from the 1.4gig :D :D
Im also working on a Vmodd for very high (and hopefully stable) vcore, a cheap duron will make a good guineapig.
Not to mention that If you get good core with a working L2 cache up to 256k it will make a good Tbred ;)Quote:

my results:
cpu1:
1600
MIXIB 0336 TPMW ---> 2200 1.85v on air
cpu2:
1600
MIXIB 0336 TPMW ---> 2300 1.90v on air
Where is the guide for modding these?
Looks like I'll be getting one of there :)
they look like fun.. but for $5 more i think ill graba second 1700. already have this one at a 1gig OC on air.. so i think i may test my luck on a second. if its better this 1700 goes to a friend for $45 :)
and the world goes round.

I noticed the newest going better, this is an old one... Still one with a short core :(
I'll be getting me one, and will threat him with 2.3+ V and peltier cooling!
I was going to get one but changed my mind because they don't overclock any better then a Barton and even if they are cheaper then a XP2500+ they are at the same time slower because of less cache.
It won't even POST like that :rolleyes:Quote:

Ever heard of the cachemod? If you're really lucky you'll be able to mod your modded xp-duron to barton, now that'd be xtreme :DQuote:

Why wont it post at 2.3V?
Almost none of the 1.5V chips like it, I found my chip went higher on 1.85->1.95v then on 2.3v
I have a modded 1,4 GHz. It did run Prime95 for sevral hours at 2,05 GHz with 1,92 V and VapoChill PE cooled, but anything higher was no good. I'd like to try higher voltage, but my mobo won't.

hello their,
nice find by the way
Could I ask you for some information??
What id like to know is what is the stepping on your chips?
We could see if the part of the wafer the cores are taken off is at the edges.
What this tells me is that there maybe from the 'worse' part of the wafer but seeing the silicon process is reaching its maturity we will be getting better chips at later dates (assuming that the process is as 'pure' as previous wafers)
I c sum info has been posted the more the better.
So peeps with these durons please provide information.
Cheers

So all I have to do is cut that one L2 bridge?Quote:
