man these are looking nice...I recently got an opteron 148 but its got the cold bug....I wanna see what these do on phase... and I may be rejoining the intel crowd soon if it does well.
GJ so far guys!
-
I must say the results i've seen so far are promising, but I have yet to see if a nice round of burn-in spanking make these 65-nm chips cry even louder. Have anyone tried with some results to show? :)

Thermalright XP120, still working on this one as its IHS has pretty shoddy contact.

what bios are you using on the P5WD2 btw?

Most/all of us are using the standard BIOS version 0606
-
i see, thought "fugger" said at one of his post that tried 5xx something, hence my question. Does anyone knows if older versions (except 606) bioses will work with 9x0 series?
-
How are you dudes getting these CPUs? I didn't think they were out until 1/16?

Its a PITA dont bother. You get a CPU warning on each boot, dont bother using anything earlier than 0606

They got em' at newegg already!:stick:
If these things overclock and perfrom as well as they look, I think I might pick one up:D

Yeah really, it's about time people learn that. One instance of 50% load doesn't show anything. Even if it is fr benching, tell us the weaker core.

Bios 0519 works fine with no complaints but it seems 370FSB is common max stable bus speed with that bios. My board is known good to 450FSB with previous bios.
0606 was poor oc bios for me.

5050mhz with 955 XE and stock vapochill LS... (can´t go higher cause vapo ls will quit due to the excessive heat!)

Agreed ! I thought I was the only one who did'nt like 0606, too many reboots when pushed with O/C. 0519 my favourite untill I can get my hands on Cedarmill. :) then see what hapens ?

unfortunatly not, if i want it to be stable @ 4.6 id have to run the cpu @ 1.65v which may kill it lol
but from the route this chips goin im certain it would run..
4.1ghz 1.3v
4.2ghz 1.35v
4.3ghz 1.4v
4.4ghz 1.45v
those are all stable speeds
that screeni of prime was @ 1.45v

should i do it? i'd like to get some re-assurance before i try and end up frying my chip lol

i cannot assure you as i dont own one, but i recon 0.2v above stock on water for these would be the maximum for 24/7 as i've seen some others running 1.45 on air.

Sentential:
4,1Ghz SuperPi 1m = 27 sek.
PcCI2iminal:
4,5Ghz SuperPi 1m = 29,2 sek.
D94:
4,6Ghz SuperPi 1m = 28,5 sek.
why's that? i dont understand this...lol
am i stupid or why is 4,1Ghz faster than 4,6???
btw.
are those presslers getting so hot@1,5V?? i thought
because of the 65nm they would be colder:confused:
-
my cpu is now stable @ 1.5v 4.5ghz..this speed however will only be used for benchies, 4.4 1.45v is my 24/7 speed hehe

I wonder about the high fsb for the smallest 920. I tried 2 930 ES with my brother and both are not able to go stable over 300MHz fsb, even for benching.
So it´s good to see that the newer retail chips will clock better than earlier samples.

really nice there d94 . what cooling u using . i should be getting my 940 on monday . best 920 ive seen so far . keep em comming .

Sen was using the standard version. If he was using 1.4 mod anti-cheat, it would be around 30.xx depending on his mem.
OK, I'll put mine up, but they are nothing special. Presler 930/x1600XTs/Mushkin XP6400. Sorry, no suicide shots, but I've seen only 4.8GHz (1.50Vc max) on phase anyway :( d94 is kicking my ass on that one, but my PCMark04 rocks anyway :) 661 will be here tomorrow, so these are likely all you'll see of Presler benches from me.

d94, Nice scores and I don't like putting a damper on your triumphs but you and everybody else who is running Preslers or Cedar Mills with Asus mobos should check out this thread:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=121
Discussion in there about Asus PLL bugs going "out of order" to give false results in this benchy PCMark05.
An example would be my lowly 630 achieving this score in PCMark05:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcm05=133909
7351 from only air cooled 630 @ 14 x 293mhz FSB & X800 XT at stock ! remember this is only with a single core cpu !
You fellas be the judge, just thought the above links might be interesting. Personally if I were you guys, run the PCMark05 tests a few times and then see if you get approximately the same score. :)

interesting stuffs, but i got about 7500..so id be fairly sure i dondt have the bug :)

What did boostedevo use as cooling
Those benches were on a low clock with phase, but it was completely benchable at 4.3 on water. On that 930, I never used more than 1.50Vc unfortunately...could easily be looking at 4.5-4.6GHz stable on water/4.8-4.9GHz stable on phase with 1.55Vc.
The 930 (and the 661 I am working on now) just don't repsond as well to phase as my Prescotts that would give 600-1GHz more OC over water. Cedar Mill/Presler are looking more like only 300-600MHz more over water. Cooling aside, past the 5GHz level, it's really more like how much Vc you're willing to throw at it, no matter what your cooling it with.
Both the Presler and Cedar Mill I have seem to do very well on water, which may be why the phase OCs aren't as much. The 661 completes PCMark04 with a score @ 5GHz and 1.55Vc ON WATER and 5.2 is a suicide shot there. As you can see, I am not limiting myself so much on Vc as I did with the 930 :) I am thinking about trying up to 1.60Vc for a few quick pulls on phase.
What is also impressive is just how stable the Cedar Mill cores are so close to max....completely bencheable/stable within just 100-200MHz of where it will totally crap out regardless of cooling.

what.s your max prime stable ?
-
I don't fold, nor do I run daily OCs very close to max OC, so I could give 2 craps about P95x2 for a week before consideing it stable. PCMark04 is almost as effective and takes a lot less time ;) I've seen quite a few "P95 stable" OCs that FAIL PCMark04 (finishes it, but with no score).
To that end, 5.3GHz is the highest I've finished multiple PCMark04s in a row with scores @ 1.55Vc on phase and does it easily. 5.4GHz finishes, but with no score, so unless I add some more Vc, that 5.3GHz is probably about it.
5.0GHz on water @ 1.55Vc finishes with scores, but I can tell it's definitely a chore for it there....4.8-4.9GHz would be a breeze.
I am also still working with the dual rail OCZ 600W PSU. I don't know if it's any kind of hang up at this point, but my new 38A single rail should be here Tues. With any kind of luck, it will help out OCs if only a little bit.

I guess mine is not a great overclocker, or maybe I need to upgrade my power supply. Anyway, here's a screenie. This OC is the most stable, running any possible bench you can think of with any problems what so ever. I may upgrade to a 940 when the second batch comes out. Thanks.

FSB200 / DDR-400 = 1:1
FSB233 / DDR-466 = 1:1
FSB266 / DDR-533 = 1:1
FSB300 / DDR-600 = 1:1
First you set your FSB and then the DDR2 :)

dammn thats a helluva score
that ram's really helpin ya out :)

No, it's almost definitely the SSE3 hack that's helping him out...that should be a 29 sec or greater.
-
I don't want to rain on the parade, but if he was using SPi 1.4 Mod, add 3 seconds to that score ;)
nicepun, that is also decent clock for that Vc on air. I wouldn't go over 1.50Vc on my 930 either, but as I have come to find out Vc is really what you need to get the Preslers/Cedar Mills moving....assuming your cooling up to the task of cooling the extra heat.
Also, close all that junk running in the tray before doing a SPi!!!
Good luck with it...
-
nicepun run the correct version of super pi that would be mod 1.4 version
The one you are running now is meaaningless As a matter fact all you guys need to run Super Pi 1.4 mod andf run it at 32m a little more stability test too
I am impressed with what I am seeing here in this thread...... So keep it coming people
I believe with the 1.4 mod he would be at 30.500 to 31.500 somewhere in there. we will know when it is run right!!
WZ
-
I need the link for 1.4 Mod cuz I can't find it. Also I'm on WC, I guess my chip sucks because unless I go over 1.45, it will not be stable pass 277. Max temps are 48c.
Gautam, you are right my friend, I just ran 1.1a and I'm at 30secs.
I'm either doing something wrong, need a new PSU, or plain and simple this chip sucks.

No, search the forums or Google. I think only 606 is on the ASUS website now (519 was the previous one), but they may have old ones stashed on the FTP servers somewhere too? If you can't find a copy, let me know and I will upload it somewhere.

Would you mind uploading a copy. I messed up and flashed the one from the CD and now it won't POST. I already ordered a new bios chip, I'm going to install my RD1 BIOS Savior for future flashes. I know whatever bios is on the CD is not compatible with the CPU and that's why it's not posting. Now I'll have to wait a few days. I'll post later on with my results. Unless some one has an extra bios chip laying around that I can off ya (with the bios included of course). Thanks.
PcCI2iminal - Vcore is 1.45v, DDR2 is 2.3v, and both chipsets are on auto.
To the guys that are using H20 for cooling, what are your temps?
-
Oh man, guy in another forum just went through that with a BIOS that wouldn't POST with a Presler. I hope you have a 5xx/6xx/8xx around to do the flash or I think you will be stuck until that new BIOS chip arrives. ALT+F2 on boot didn't even work for him.
I put 0519 up here, but it's not permanent, so let me know when you grab it so I can remove it.
Good luck with it...
*Edit: Presler 930 on water (20-22C ambient):
Default Vc/3.00GHz default: 24C idle/27C load
1.50Vc/4.2GHz: 27C idle/34C load
Cedar Mill 661:
Default Vc (overvolt idle = 1.36V)/3.60 default: 28C idle (22-24C) and I can't believe I didn't note load ;)
1.475Vc (overvolt idle = 1.51V)/4.86GHz = 27C idle / 48C load (19-21C ambient)
The 661 got definitely higher load temps @ 5GHz even and the 1.525Vc...shot up to like 54C.

Yep, No ALT+F2 at all. And no, I don't have any other cpu (Socket T anyway) laying around. No problem, I need to study for an exam anyway and this take this distraction away, at least until the bios chip gets here. Did that guy order a bios chip as well??

Yeah, that stinks. No he didn't order the chip...luckily another forum member (there and here) with a spare 6xx proc lived close enough and was nice enough to go over and help him out.
Good luck on your exam ;) My new PSU should be here tomorrow and I have my fingers crossed it's going to help a bit. Gotta love when you see a PSU shipping weight of 9 pounds...should be a good one, lol.

PcCI2iminal - Vcore is 1.45v, DDR2 is 2.3v, and both chipsets are on auto.
To the guys that are using H20 for cooling, what are your temps?
try NB = 1.65v and GL with school and 0519

I may have to reseat my water block, cuz I'm getting temps way higher than yours. I had a feeling there was something wrong there and that might be preventing from getting a better OC as well. Hopefully I'll have something to post by the end of this week or the weekend. Laters.
Edit 1: I just finished reseating my water block and in fact, it wasn't properly seated. We'll see what happens.
