whats default speeds? whats it running at now?
Hows its 3d01? My 6800nu is owning it in 03 :\ I was hoping it would be a better card. I dont feel very at home with this nvidia...
why don't you look at the screenie, bro :stick:Quote:

it's not a futuremark issue.Quote:

it's a ATI issue.
I took the latest ATI driver, checked out the INF files and theres no X800XL in there. it's under the "X800 series", so for FM to change the XL into it's own catagory, ATI would have to start making a part of the driver specifically for the XL, not just mushing it under the X800 series name.
man stock voltage is boring dont u know it? :D
give it some volts
What does nu stand for? I'm unclear what a 6800nu is.Quote:

And my max clocks:

wow how come an extra 5mhz on the core and 20 on the mem gained u that many points? Pretty impressed though, trounces my 6800 now (gets 12,100).
NU stands for non ultra its like ati's old non pro. Nice score's charlie, crank up the volts see what she can do
Well I slapped on the ATI Silencer4, it doesn't line up PERFECTLY with the XL, but it's pretty good. Now I can run 465/600 3D, and I noticed the heat of the air coming out of the Silencer, it's NOWHERE near as hot as the x800xtpe makes.... which leads me to believe that it needs more V.... Vmod linkies????
C
Shure http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...g/voltmods/112 glad i could help.
thx.
Here the new MAX with the ATI Silencer4, it's not a perfect fit... but here's 460/600

What r the temps with stock cooler & silencer?
don't know....Quote:

C
score looks right.
charlie, can you take a core reading for me for VGPU volts?
I always suspected that XL was just undervolted, and I'd like to finally know if I am right.
Also, which brand XL do you have?
Kunaak I'm thinking that they are doing the XL undervolted and later they will release a better one, but it will just be the same core but with more voltage,,,
tried a Zalman VF700-CU heatsink instead ? does 10C cooler than ATI Silencer4 from reviewsQuote:

Nice card, I'm suspecting its a Power-color with the power connector. That card does more than my 6800GT on my untweaked AXP setup :) Must pick one up some time ;)

Anyways, nice card^^ Wish I'd saved my money and just got one of them.
Oh.... my bad. The place on the mobo I was using as a ground wasn't good.... the measuring point is correct, the Vgpu is
1.35V
Hmmm...seems as though we have an undervolted core, here....
Hard to get in there with the ATI Silencer4 on the card, I'll pull it out later and do a little pencil mod.
Looking foward to some scores
5826 in 3dmark05 is VERY GOOD !!! Thats 1k above most stock cards !!!
Would love to see it under some xtreme cooling :D but I imagine you'd want to end the hunt for 6k on air first  .
Perkam
how is it for 01? :)
hmm 1.35V is low, try 2 give it 1.5V, if it's gonna go over 500Mhz I am getting the card very very soon :DQuote:

Oh n/m didnt see the 2nd page. lol whoops
ATI tool gives a temp on my x800xl which seems right, 28 no load, 33 full load so i dont know where its getting that from if theres no sensor
Dave
give it 1.5v!
33C full load :slobber: :slobber: :slobber:Quote:

Things are good for budget OC'ers right now... I got my 3000+ that runs 2700+ on quiet air, and got my x800xl from atishop as a pre-order for $262 including shipping AND TAX!!!
I bet this card is going to be an awesome gamer!!
C
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...chmentid=25966
No give it 1.7 :D
That's w/ ati silencer 4 too? IMO this is some pretty good bang for your buck...
definitely a better deal than a 6800gt (which is what it's meant to compete with I think).
True.... and it's actually a much better deal :DQuote:

I'm not sure if it's a better "deal" than the 6600gt, though... now that's a TON of bang for the buck! $175 each for XFX and SLI capable in my DFI SLI.
C
if u can get it to 550 with some vmodding im gonna buy one right away.
Tried the pencil mod, can't get enough "lead" down, will do normal mod later.
what is it doing if u clock it higher than 460Mhz?Quote:

How do you activate the temp sensor in ATi Tool? Another problem i'm getting is when i click on Mem, Ati tool would crash...
this is greta news, ATI card should be here wed. I paid 295 though, oh well. Is the ATI silencer 4 the best one for this card? Maybe ill just wait a few months and go water
The ATI Silencer4 does NOT fit correctly... It "fits" but not correctly. Wait for a proper 850/800XL model.Quote:

THERE it is!!
my bad.... anyone seen a link to ATISIlencer5??
Now debating whether to get the Zalman and use separate ramsinks or get the AC??
C
cool thanks for the heads up
Well here is my first run, with cpu at max (262x9 @ 1.45v) (silly CBBID 0501DWDP!!!) and x800 xl at stock... will tinker with the x800 xl when i get home, i have to go now. Forgot to take a screenshot, but 05 was 4808
To my knowledge, the Zalman hasnt served its purpose as a modded cpu heatsink type cooler and the seperate ram sinks will be harder to remove then the AC5, especially when you're putting some extreme cooling on the XL.Quote:

The AC5 is a better choice.
Perkam
Thats about right for stock run.Quote:
4808
Perkam
personally I would go for the Zalman over the artic cooling thing...
anyways, so whats the X800XT voltage again? 1.55 was it?
anyways, aside from the obviouse differences in the designs...
I see no reason this card can't pull some high numbers once watercooling or better, once volt modded.
That's the one for 6800 series cards I think, just don't want you to buy something thinking your getting something else...Quote:

This ISN'T the "bad OC'er people have made it out to be.
The 2.0nS ram, they should be good for 625 on a cool pcb, maybe 650 if they respond to the Vmods...
The core... well 400>460 is a 15% OC on AIR. My x800xtPE went 520>600 on air, OR voila! a 15% OC.............
Like you said, with good cooling, 600+ and even 700+ should be possible.
C
Mine isn't nearly as good as charlie's... still impressed though.
http://docah.homelinux.org/~docah/11833.jpg
Still pretty good considering it's price. The icing on the cake would be if a vmod can yield 800XT performance...
Docah, No OC for the mem?
thanx!! I was so excited by "5" that I ignored the fact it was NV5!Quote:

How are you getting your memory so high? I've been using ATI Tool to see what the max is w/o artifacts and I came up with 460/526. Does replacing the fan with something different make that much difference? My scores (see below) seem kind of low in comparison to those being posted here. :(
relax a certain timing on the ram and you might gain like 50MHz. x800xl may be .11u but without low k they start at lower clocks. percent wise they may overclock as well as x800xt but what people seem to care is final clocks. 15% overclock for each and of course the x800xt has higher final clocks. My friend has an x800pro that gets 13.5k in 3dmark 2003 overclocked and he says its faster vs. x800xl once overclocked
Even with the Zalman and ramsinks i'm turning in 450 core 510 ram. I have the worst luck with overclocking though. And this was the card ocmyface won at the o/c competition, go figgure!
If those voltage readings are correct that means there may be some room in these chips with vmods. Well, i'm hoping anyway. :)
30k on a 2.7 winnie DAMN! I think I'll have to get one of these bad boys when they come AGP assuming they game better than a 6800nu...
Makes you wonder, eh.
Winnie @2,7 & Max clocks on X800XL = 30k
3.73EE @4,3 & Sligh OC on "Mystery Next Gen ATI Card" = 40k
Anyhoo, hopefully the XL with 1.6ns ram goes higher on the core than 460 max cos otherwise HELLO X850 PRO :D
Perkam
Well just for the sake of more information on the overclocks, I just did the ATi Tool find max core and memory 430/540

Dont think anyone WILL be putting -100C on a mid range card tho...
'k how about -45C :DQuote:

Now we need to have a little talk, my friends....
THIS is my x800xtPE/754/G.Skill combo:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3451425
It is 13,256 @ 567/603 @ 2359mHz (A64 NC)
Maybe the XL is packin' something special under that el-cheapo heatsink :D
500+ will be cake on water or better. This thing rox.
Remember one thing... LESS than HALF the price of X850PE.....
hehehe.....
very interesting, so it looks like the XL is faster per clock???Quote:

i hope they will make a seperate category for these XL's
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...id=26036&stc=1
mine at 450/600. need to remove stock heatsink and add this ati silencer 4 and see if the core speed will increase. over 400 points lower than that score of 6093. great score, my cpu speed was only at 2420mhz. it wouldnt make up that diffrence though.
Now i wonder if it was the card's fault. As you can see i was only running 1.5 on the processor. My motherboard decided to take up smoking in the cpu voltage area, wonder if it was causing other problems. I _always_ get the bum cards... trust me.Quote:

I thought I heard 15% OC on air was normal...
for a midrange card, that's incredible. I think we have the new overclockers card of choice here.
Although percentage wise it's still not touching my 6800 yet ( i got it from 325 to 440, which is a 35% increase.
AGP version will have a molex... I dont think the PCIE slot is providing enough power for serious OCing. I just need to find a way to get ~250 for my 6800nu and this thing is mine...
Oh and btw, at "near it's peak" the benches LOOKED nice.... minimal tearing and artie's...
I only had UT2k4 on this HDD, which looked good, of course (runs on mx440, too) will try some D3 or HL2 on it....
C
Supposedly, the pcb is extremely similar between x800xl and x850 family.... the read points and mods are the same....Quote:

Hopefully you'll try D3 with the newest drivers, I believe they should give an improvement :) With 6800/GTs swirling around ATI like sharks when it comes to D3, we dont want to de-value your oc ;)Quote:

80-100 huh? Heard it was 60... Guess I'm wrong. How much power does an X850XTPE draw?

Hats off to The Tech Report for always having Power Consumpton section in each of their GPU reviews.

you lucky!!! dual dvi and 1.6ns... damn i wish they will make that in the AGP version aswell
nice unrealneo, be sure to share your results with that card... will you vmod it too?

HEY THAT THING HAS THE 6 PIN PCI-E POWER CONNECTOR!!
i bet it overclocks like a champ
________
Paxil help
Anyone have a diagram of where to solder on molex?
could you take some more closeup shots of different angles of around that PCI-E 6-pin molex area? Also the same area on the bottom of the card...this will point out if there are any missing components (other than the molex) that the other x800xl's have/don't have.
I have my x800xl sitting on a shelf...taunting me...until my A64, DFI Ulrta-D, and other parts come in. If there's no other or not many missing components for that power connector...I'll do that mod in a heartbeat!
use a multimeter and check to see if both sides of that SMD capacitor are touching the heatsink too.
considering that the x800xt uses only a little more power then the x800xl i would think that extra power connector will make all the difference in the world overclocking that card
