here are pics
any idea about vdimm?! :)
There are 3 usb power jumpers and the cmos jumper is at the bottom of the board.
Bad place to put it imho.
Going to try a quick install.
here are bios screens
remainder of bios screens
what about the ddr ref volts is there an option or is it locked and i noticed cpu only goes up to 1.80 the fatality goes to 1.85
ponders the thought of using fatality bios on an8 mobo.
The board comes with the fatality cd rom with those drivers on it.
abit uguru
I am using 3200+ stock cooler
hyperx 3200ul
antec 480w
s3virge card.
I think the voltage options depend on the processor, so here they are more limited (Winchester with althes' AN8, NC with the Fatality).Quote:

So i might be right in the other thread on the fatality the +10- +60 may be .01 volts making for a max of 2.86 + or - .1
First up issues.
UGURU does not work in windows.
At present there is no way to change the multiplier in the bios.
Use have to use clockgen.
Bummer ill see if gitzum has the same issues with multis he says his guru works fine.
I upped all the settings to max
cpu volts are solid at 1.75 max.
All other voltages seem to stay at max they dont move.
Running at 10*220
Using tccd in my hyperx 3200UL
Tried clockgen no workie.
I can change the multiplier in clockgen and it works, but as soon as try to up the fsb it locks up.
Hopefully another bios will appear soon.
Presently running at 10*235, my 3200+ needs alot of volts to get over 240.
Will have another cpu this weekend.
Its a very quick board so far, will try to get in some becnhes friday have to get to work at 5.30am so going to bed soon.
Good things, vtt tracks perfectly.
My otes led lights up but no fans are running.
This board is really a trip
Cool cool . I'm aquiring the bios for the fatality if you wanna take a chance ill be hosting it.
Definitely.
Drop me a pm tomorrow night.
I will be on.Well good night.
dont forget me :(
i want a copy of the bios :hehe:
I wont tictac. Ill be hosting it so ill paste the url or pm the url to you. Not sure if they like links outside these forums to dloads.Quote:

Heres a link to the fatality an8 bios. I'll post it for now unless they remove my link. If they do remove the link PM me for it. You can include the link on ur site if you want tic tac.

Thanks :hehe:
Posting from work.
When I get home will flash to this bios.
make sure you got backup bios before you do it :)
just for pre-caution ;)
Nice, might just buy one.
Tictac --> Check your PM/Accept me on MSN please.
I wouldnt do it. I heard from the Intel Fatalitys that the special bios is registered to the serial number to your motherboard. So basically you are flashing someone elses special fatality bios on your AN8. This might cause it to stop working.Quote:

Um this is just a regular bios bud not the "SSB" as some of us call it the super secret bios or stupidly secret bios which is a rumor and apparently doesnt exist. Its rumored that you can't copy the SSB to disk so if you can't then how am i uploading a 512kb bin file to an ftp for people to dl. And I've compared the boards to each other they are 100% identical from pics shown. The only diff is the nforce 4 chip versus nforce 4 ultra and the few extras u get from it etc sata 300. It even uses the same damn sound card.Quote:

And I'm sure that if it does use a serial # either I or tic tac or another of the bios modders out there can crack it :)
Just an example k8ns ultra 939 versus k8nsxp 939. I have the k8ns ultra 939. I'm using f8 bios from the k8nsxp 939.
2.8v max doesn't suck?Quote:

well ya :banana::banana::banana: can go wrong but if he has a backup chip with the bios on it he should be all set.
LOL ok cool .
Tictac if you want a copy of the AV8 BIOS lemme know either here on OCforums. Ill host em as wellQuote:

i havent check it yet...
will check it later next week... when i'm back at home ;)
No luck using winflash an8 bios is 512kb fatality is 513kb.
Wondering i fI should try force flash in dos.
If the file size didnt match your bios... it wont let you flash it :-/
and 513KB sound wrong for a bios file... now this make me wonder....
sound like ABIt adding extra security to prevent plain AN8 flashing Fatal1ty bios on their board :hehe:
If that is it really sux.
About to test the booster see if it works.
ok let us know if it work ;)
Just to add up something... the bios that chew* link to us is taken from AN8 Fatal1ty ROM...
not the plain flashable bios from Abit ... :(
Booster doesnt work.
Everytime I try it it gives the code 83.
This board needs a bios update badly.
Hopefully something can come of the board.
At stock its a great board.
They have to fix the multipplier issue.
Hopefully vdimm can be increased, by bios but i doubt it.
Vcore seems to be rock steady at max 1.75, vtt tracks very well.
the ddr/cpu ref does nothing at this time.
A new bios better increase the options or its modding time.
yah gitzum copied the bios file from his existing bios basically like backing up a bios to floppy from dos. Although i just tried flashing my K8ns ultra to a k8nsxp from dos other day and it wouldnt work. I had to force flash with the windows flash utility to do it.(I hate windows based flashing).Quote:

maybe you can do the same with your bios and upload it to me maybe me or tictac can figure out what they did.
you should back the bios up to floppy anyway and see what it names it. Maybe if you rename the file it will work. I find it odd it says its a 513kb file.
In fact im gonna see if i can force flash that bios onto a chip right now with my nf7-s. I got spare chips for that board anyway.
I renamed the file and it still says 513kb
I will try force flash in the morning.
I WILL send to you chew tomorrow.
Another ABIT K8 board without multi. adjustments on the initial BIOS. I wonder if it's hard to get it right.
I'm happy to read the Vcore is stable on this board... I'm not an extreme OCer but I care about that sort of thing.
Oddly i cant flash it in windows ill try force flashing in dos tommorrow. Gave a wrong part # error but i believe its more of a protection versus a security feature just keeps you from flashing the wrong bios to your board thats all. If this is the HIGH securtiy everyones talked about it should be simple to get around. Not to hard to edit the bioses part #.
What's the difference between the two bios'?
i think either ABIT hasnt enable that 2 features DDR&CPU Refvolt or they forgot to test it :slap:
well one thing we know from screenies is that an8 vanilla dont have 1.85 vcore option.Quote:

HAHAHHHAHAAHA good one chew.
Ok got the day off from work, so about to do some more testing.
Firstly the board hates my tccd memory.
It refuses to run with my gig of twinmoss.
Everytime you switch out mem sticks you must clear the cmos.
I have a x800pro pcie card about to run some benchies.
AFAIK wasnt Abit supposed to impliment an overclocking BIOS that you had to DL from them <thus voiding your warrenty> I had head of such talks on OCforums, perhaps this explains it.
As for the boot screeen my AV8 does the same thing and I agree it looks like crap when you compare it to Epox and MSI.
Does anybody have this board at home ? Why you dont test it properly ? You still talk about bull:banana::banana::banana::banana:s. Write something about OC, voltages stability, mem supprots ... etc. I cant express, what i really want .. becouse my english is not very well :stick:
Read the thread from the beginning, I have given the voltages, stablity, and what it will oc to so far.Quote:

hummm !!!!
two fatal1tys .... and the two don´t like tccd, thats to bad.
bh5 do not solver the problem, the volt... don't make it higer :dammit:
you still cant flash your bios ????
hug'z
The AN8 was tested with a Winchester (1.4V default) and the Fatality with a NC (1.50V). I think it's very likely the max vcore depends on the CPU default.Quote:

We do know that ddr booster does not work at this time on an8 as to why not sure yet lets wait to see what OCZ says on that maybe a newer bios will work. As far as the bios goes its a backed up bios file from the fatality rom and does not belong to the an8 vanilla so it may take a mod to the bios to allow it to work. We really wont know till we actually get a AN8 bios and fatality AN8 bios from abit itself.Quote:

what will happen when they throw FX55 on this board?
might unhidden extra voltage as well... ?
If that is the case... what will happen if they throw in RAM with 3.3V default voltage
:hehe:
i ask OCZ about DDR Booster compitablity with AN8 Fatal1tyQuote:

No go on the booster, which really sucks.
Tried yesterday, using chew suggestion.
I got it to intially work, it said 2.8v same in thebios.
Then after I rebooted and tried to up volts the booster stayed at 2.8 regardless.
After that it just stopped working and gave me code 83. Which is save all data in bios back to stack.
Just started testing with some hyperx 3200 bh5.
You cannot use dimm3 and 4.
The computer will not boot.
You must use slots 1 and 2.
Running some benches at stock brb.
We are waiting for the results. :banana4:Quote:

:toast: .... finaly bh5.
Here goes using bh5
cpu is at 10*235
Ram is running at 196 cpu/12
The bh5 has to be slots 1/2 not 3/4 in order for the computer to boot.
With only 2.8v to give them had to run on dividers.
did you contact ABIT about the vdimm thing?!
This x800pro could not be flashed to 16 pipes.
Strangley I flashed with x800pro agp gigabyte version and works like a charm.'
Email was sent
Giving the board a full work up now
everest benches
for a 12 pipe x800pro it doing ok.
Got her up to 250
nothing much can be done to BH5 with that voltage
do you set memory interleave enable?
any tccd review?
The board wil not work with tccd at least the sticks i have.
I have twinmoss 1 gig
Hyper X 3200UL
Memory interleave enable
hmm I guess if i was to upgrade soon im gonna want a little better than an x800 pro as i can do this with my 9800pro.http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8425940
How high can you go in sync with the bh5 chips at 2.8v and ddr/ref v at +60.Quote:

i no that's to soon to make this conversation , but..
bh5 don't to nothing, vx it's the same... tccd   i have hope.
let's whait amd see.
good luck whit the testes.
ps.love your board.

:D
Nice mobo, althes :)
Ive got the Abit AV8. Its similar to your mobo but ofcourse older...
The BIOS is pretty much identicle, same for the OC Guru and Abit EQ, I am able to change the multiplyers in BIOS and overclock in both windows and BIOS...
I like the idea of the fans blowing onto the RAM... A feature I would want :stick:
Thanks for sharing that with us. A very good read :)
Alec
Thanks alec.
I hope a bios can change this sorry state of affairs.
Chew, I will test now.
i really hope ABIT gets it together on this board. I was waiting anxiously for this board, but seems its LESS than HALF BAKED! hopefully, a bios will cure this crap that ABIT dumped on everyone (overclocking wise). Stock speed looks impressive though.
The highest I can get with bh5 in sync using 2.8v is 225.
I can only run 3d01 up to 220fsb.
Tried at 225 but it crashed immediately.
this is getn lame. COme on ABIT, you can do it. If I want a decent performing board at stock, I would get an ECS and have money for a nice steak dinner at Peter Lugars.
Ok i'm back at home now... Just check *chew Fatal1ty bios ...
Modding........ :)
Wohoo, cant wait to get it.
Hope it will improve my an8
Ok This is the highest stable Htt for benching.
Had to go ddr200 for bh5
I suspect my cpu is capable of a lot more.
Max on this board is 2500, max on neo2 was 2400.
This cpu will go in dfi board shortly see how it goes.
The board can a killer if they can fix the ddr options.
I hope they can also do something with vcore but I doubt it, seems a mod will have to be done for vcore.
Cool... is it with the new 12 beta1 bios?Quote:
