Quick Tips
-Air cooling 32m overclocking profile is niiiice.
-Mem profiles are made with normal purchased memory kits not golden samples.
-Conformal on the big board imo is best to be used as a second defense. Eraser is the insulation of choice on that one.
-When overclocking memory if you hang on 00 or if the last code you see is 03, something is set too tight for the frequency you are using.
-Tighter timings are not always faster, play with them one at a time. I could tell you which ones matter but thats half the fun!
-Boot bclk and eventual bclk can take some ease off of training at high speed. This can also allow your RTL and I0-L to sometimes be pulled in tighter when set on auto.
-The same with hynix and BBSE, some kits dont like to train with high volts. If you are max mhz'ing hynix you can use 2.0vdimm boot and 2.3vdimm eventual etc.
-The 3000mhz memory divider at 100bclk is not useable, so use 2933 and bclk or 125 strap.
-When using 125 bclk strap, around 145 bclk you will loose stability and its advisable to switch to 167 strap at that point.

IO digital & IO analog helps maximum memory clock .


So .. boot is for code training , eventual is for booting into os .

Maybe quarter inch between the cpu pot screws and the the mem pot

I'll take the mini, I dont ever plan to run 4 way and they oc the same. Plus the PCH gets nice and cold from the mem being close.

man..that's close ..there will be a lot of frosty pics that's for sure (I'm glad I have Gemini which have space for some Armaflex between the rods/pot )

very interested in the eventual voltage to see how it plays out on some of my bbse. the "good" kit didn't like more than 1.885 and wouldn't post @ 1.95+ if I recall. I wonder if 13 sticks of bbse is enough though to get a decent set out of it...

is CAS change functional from within windows using the utility?

Haha, +1. I don't use all that much in terms of insulation as it is, and I probably won't use very much with this board. I'll cut some Frost King gaskets and call it a day. :up:

Damn, Intel made bad things with Haswell. No BCLK ratios for non K cpu's(not even +4multi above TURBO as IB), pretty bad first lot of cpu's, CB, blocked memory timings in OS ?

OCF it's on newegg, 295$, a little more expensive thant Z77 but it has more features than Z77 MB and still the cheapest comparing with concurence.

I got the 3 day shipping because any faster and Newegg was trying to give it to me up the... Hopefully mine comes Monday, but I figure it'll be Tuesday. I ordered at like 8 AM CST, so it definitely shipped today. I'm going to hope some people have good results using some 4770k's, and then I'm going to drive over to my local MicroCenter and hopefully grab a close batch.

Edit: I just checked the tracking info... Apparently Saturday isn't a day UPS works because the three day delivery is scheduled for Wednesday. :(

packaging/protection was quite impressive. be advised, you have to clip off some zip ties that secure it within the foam layer of protection. Also, be careful when taking the clear protective skin off of the oled display

glue on. glue that seems to have the same stickyness and consistancy of a dried soda. dont know if its a good thing or bad thing. bad, it came off to begin with, good its still sticky/tacky enough to put back on with minimal effort. not a big deal at all in any sense... if you looked you would never know. no bubbles, dust, fingerprints, nothing.

4 slot single sided bdbg was not fun though. will give it another shot but it was not cooperating at all the first time.

What batch is that 4770k and how's it clocking for you? The OC Formula should easily push that chip, and now I'm really sure I bought the best board. I knew if the Z87 clocked ram like the Z77 did, then I'd be set. Now I know. :up:

Sorry for out of topic, but I have an asrock z87e itx that has a bug in bios. Even if I change the multiplier it doesn't overclock my 4670k. Only from WindOws using the a tuning utility. Can anyone provide a newer bios than 1.40. Thanks in advance.

Can you please clarify the twrrddr and twrrdw (memtweakit shows my subs as 3)

when setting to 2, the board will not post
when setting to 1, its slower than 4 or 3
when setting to 3, its faster than 4

what is the lowest value I can set? is there a bug with 2?

u can keep this one as auto . and see what value be given

In Z87 . Some timings cant be too tight . it will get slower .

About the bug of 2 . Maybe just doesnt accept 2 under the sort of timing combination .

the same here too.3 is the best for these,even with aces efficiency is not that good

ahh that answers my question sort of. so 1 IS a valid value, its just slower.

I would like to add.. when I got trfc 88 stabilized, its because I lowered the VTT DDR voltage. took auto value, keyed it in and went down 1 tick. helped me a ton. was most definitely the difference between pass and fail.

DDR Initial - 1.8965
DDR Final - 1.9030
1MHz
VTT DDR - 0.944

hopes this helps some clockers out there.

Auto value is 0.949 and its fail. setting .944 let me pull in trfc to 88

for trfc 86, it was achievable by tweaking this value further

i got trdrd to 4 yesterday and helped a bit... my mem is weird... 1.845v is best for stability and ddr vtt as always 0.8v
1300 8-11-7-22-72 twcl 6 worked like a charm. i need to pass mem training at low cache speed and boost it in the second boot,all this with the original bios

which mobo and bios u used ?

z87 oc formula bios 1.0 iirc. I think it is a cpu issue the mobo seems solid!!! I will flash it to the newest one and see if that changes.
To me the only little thing that bothers me is that vccio and vcssa can be changed by offset and not values.
From what i have seen in the 5 hours that the board rocks,if it wasn't a "rental" i would have ln2 the mem for sure,maybe i will get the little one for myself...

Intel only provide offset function for that 2 voltage.

The fix values by other company which is based on estimation .

we just did it as standard .

it doesn't really bother me (it's just the power of habbit i guess)
as zen said by the minute you find your voltages you do not have to change them just tune your subtimmings :D

100% sure that was the game changer for me. Everybody is different as well as their hardware so cant hurt to try. If the ratios are too far off, you can still pass but lose effic

Protip, increase vCCIN for stability of IMC even at 4ghz 2600mhz+ ;) around 2.2-2.3 is good

btw. I already increased Ioa .250 iod .250 and still can't get most of my PSC's stable @2600

for me best is +0.3 sa +0.25dio +0.20aio for both pcs bbse... from my testing 0.05 dif between digital and analog io is the best combo

Trdrd4 is not working on every kits .... u have to loose by 6 first .

If wont go ... it might be 20% IMC and 80% memory kits
