never settle amd 12.11 game bundles
-
-
I was about to just post this. If I was getting a new card, it would likely be a radeon 79xx series. The value is simply too good with such a good bundles. It makes me nostalgic when videocards used to come with games rather than just a driver cd and maybe 3dmark.
The early 7970 adopters got hosed though. They paid 150 dollars more and they didn't get 150 dollars in games.
Driver improvements look impressive too. A Standard 7970 will likely match a gtx 680 with this and beat it at 2560*1600. Nvidia hasn't got nearly as much out of driver development this generation. At this point, the gtx 680 needs to drop to 400 and throw in a game or two.
-
Yah but at least yur getting new drivers!
I thought Medal of Honor warfighter was an origin game? Deal says 20% off steam?
7870 improvement looks to be the best! 10%!
-
-
nice nearly got a 680 this weekend this may change my idea as 7970 nearly par with 680 on bf3. now the question is exactly how this game bundle works?
-
Please can someone test the new drivers with Futuremark? This is XS after all :D
-
wow, awesome improve in performance! And new Far CRy 3 and new Medal is good choice for next gaming :). N1 AMD!

3D 11 sees a great boost...about 10%

Moreover where is the dahm link so I can download them ?
-
Oooooft! Ok not bad at all! Would be good to see the others too of course :)
-
Drivers are for media only.
Apparently a final beta would be available later today. Funny how VGA vendors are being rejected when asking for these drivers, though :D
-
Yeah so sad that happens... But well who can blame them ?
-
OK so who's doing the image quality checks to make sure they're not cutting IQ for FPS?
-
I accept Leaks by PM and then I'll host them on a good host : )

Not sure where you saw 20% off on Steam. The deals are for whichever download service carries them: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/news/...raphics-cards/
So basically that's:
Hitman / Sleeping Dogs: Steam + any others
Far Cry 3: Ubisoft U-Play (ugh!)
MoH Warfighter: Origin

No. The HD 6000 series could see some optimizations in certain titles.

Is quite clear that this "magical Catalyst" is just a scam by AMD and attempt a better view of the company ahead of tomorrow's FX fiasco. Higher fps are paid with worse Aniso and antialiasing quality!
Remember that "Computerbase magical Catalyst" case? - This is the same situation.

dont forget though, they got their gpu 9 months ago.
those who buy a 7900 now will only have a few months before the 8xxx comes out.
theres honestly enough competition that buying at ANY time is quite fair (the last generation however i feel was too pricey)

lol , nooo it couldn't be about anything like amd launching that new program "AMD Gaming Evolved" to work with game developers to properly setup optimizations for their gpu's and cpus lol.
like nvidia has done for years "way its meant to be played"

What are you on about?
I didn't see (during actual gaming) any differences in image quality. Plus, we always disable Catalyst AI in testing so the benefits are still there even without the optimizations you talked about.
As for tomorrow's Vishera launch, I have a feeling you'll be eating your words.

You have allready the Vishera in your lab ? nice, waiting for your review ...
:::::::::::::
@PedantOne: you speak about computerbase, but have you just read the article they have done about this driver ? At first i was too a bit supsicious, but like all review have the same results..
Quote:
Conclusion Computerbase.de (translated )
We must admit that we have often fallen a driver as good as the beta version of the Catalyst 12.11 - maybe even never. While there are no new features, but the increased speed is impressive. Four to five percent more power on a Radeon HD 7000 card in 1920x1080 for a pure driver update is remarkable.
Especially Battlefield 3 shows the Catalyst 12.11 a proper power explosion and provides part of more than 30 percent additional frames per second than the previous driver. That this increase in power does not come at the expense of image quality, we have also examined - in terms of image quality, there are no differences between the drivers.
Problems we encountered with the Catalyst 12.11 does not, the driver is able to complete all the tests properly. Accordingly, we encourage anyone with an owner Graphics Core Next-only graphics card, install the Catalyst to 12.11 despite the beta stage.
-
Holy $hit. Always thought the 7xxx had untapped potential but never thought it was this big. 7970 Ghz is clearly the fastest GPU out there and the 7850 (after OC preferably) along with the bundle is an absolutely cracking deal, one of the best price/performance ever IMO
-
-
Wow! That is a stellar game bundle!
Last bundle was a joke, I think this is the best one I've ever seen. Nicely done AMD.:)
-
Well for those still looking, and given that Guru3d link is dead I've rehosted the drivers, you can go here and download. I'll try to mirror it some place else too so download speeds are acceptable.
-
Do you know what the definition of insanity is?
-
repeating the same action over and over expecting a different outcome. when it has not resulted in a different outcome yet, repeating the same action over and over :yepp:
-
I think repeating yourself over and over also applies.

-
only if you're expecting a different outcome and have not yet got a different outcome. cause if you repeat yourself over and over , knowing the outcome will be the same as before, even if said outcome is a difference. there is nothing insane about it.
-
-
Hopefully this gives Nvidia second thoughts about using gk114 as the gtx 780. The performance deficit along with the difference to the ghz editions, the gtx 680 moniker and the restrictive over volting properties from Nvidia this generation make me feel they got a bit too :banana::banana::banana:y this generation. Similar to AMD at the launch of the 7970. However AMD has managed to fix alot of the mistakes they made with the 7970 launch. If I am going to pay top dollar for a card from Nvidia, it better have more than a 256bit bus. AMD is finally offering the good value they are known for which I applaud them for. Something tell's me they can't be making much money from this deal though.
-
Well they do make a profit, and eventough it is not a huge one, this kind of moves will help them regain marketshare.Plus they are getting rid of stocks and prepare for the new 8xxx generation.I hope to see it in december/january :)
-
So, I could have got a brand new 7770s for my crossfire setup which now outperforms the used 6850s I got for the same price??? Got to love biased drivers :) Ah, I'm exaggerating....I guess I saved $60 going with the 6850s.

Are you guys blind?
12.11

12.8

not the same angels thus not same scene. so we gotta compare the details of other objects at further distance obviously. which show, smoke is more detailed, shadows are more detailed and less blob like.
water droplets are more detailed and actually divide instead of some light show effect
the grains of the ground are further "de-interlanced" and less "sharpened" which made it look unrealistic in 12.8 vs 12.11
grains in 12.11 are more detailed and less sharpening effect like 12.8 is appearing
even the caps on the ground are higher detailed
let me guess, you find the sharpening effects on the surface texture of the ground of 12.8 to mean detailed?
-
I scrolled between those 2 pictures for like 2 minutes. I'm what you're talking about, man. Looks pretty much the same (If not better - clearer) to me...

Same here. And when it gets into such minute differences like that, ill happily take an extra 25% performance any day
-
IRT to the first set of comparison picture, they are different scenes, and if anything the 12.11 picture looks better anyway.
The second set of comparison pictures appears to be time matched better then the first (instead of the puddle of water to the right looking different in the first set of pictures it looks practically identical) 12.11 has more smoke in the top left corner, but perhaps the smoke isn't rendered statically or it's still not the exact same scene. Other than that, not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for

It´s nice to see that your opinions are more balanced now (not only "NVIDIA is great"; "AMD is crap").
But I think some guys will never understand. I can´t imagine a company that does EVERYTHING wrong or EVERYTHING right.

Won't do anything, unfortunately. the 7670m is based on the VLIW4 architecture. This driver only improves performance on cards based on the GCN architecture.
-
I still don't know the difference between regular and NET 4.0 versions of the drivers, anyone care to explain? thanks

i see the 7900 series bundles on newegg

at newegg.

I don't want to sound like a closed-minded fool but I really don't think Far Cry 3 will be installed on my computer if it means using Ubisoft's UPlay. There are SO many compatibility and stability issues with that damn thing.

That bundle is so good I had a 7970 in my cart to replace the 670 Superclocked I have in my secondary rig. Only thing that kept me from pulling the trigger was loss of value due to FleaBay/PayPal fees + depreciation, and thought the 670 SC and 7970 probably aren't that far apart performance wise.
Came down to "I'm going to end up paying $100 to get these games and a little more performance if I do this".
That said, that game bundle kicks a$$- were I buying a GPU for the secondary rig, 7970 would be it. (have 3d monitors on primary rig)

Which beta is that with?
So far beta 3 has been stable for me. I haven't done any before and after testing but performance doesn't seem off in any game that I tried other than Clear Sky.
-
-
i'm using beta 3 as well. i updated to the 12.10 application profiles and that seems to have fixed my issues with crysis 2. I have not seen any other issues while coming out of the screen saver either.

Liking the driver  Nice bundle too :yepp:
I got Sleeping Dogs with my 7970, which I have played for a total of 30 minutes :(

it doesnt need a bundle to be worst :D
but what is really worst is i cant get the bundle as it is limited to specific stores :(. now my problem is bigger before 12.11 i was %100 getting 680 bot now 7970 or 680 which is better i dont know
-
I got my new reference 7970 for a total of $281 after instant $50 off and another 5% off from my CC for ordering from TD and then I sold some games to bring it down to $281, still have a couple of the game keys unused lol.
The only game worth a damn with this new bundle is sleeping dogs which is really good actually, and possibly hitman. UBI and DICE/EA can die in fire.

Anyone know what stores in Europe wil be ofering the Never Settle game bundle with the cards?
Cause so far i have found no stores in the Netherlands or Germany that will add the gaming bundles.

The game isn't half bad actually. I personally wouldn't have spent $60 on it but not bad by any means. If you have BF3 Premier you can get the game for 50% off ( any version, console, digital or pc )
-
Wow, this is fantastic! Great job AMD! I ALMOST wish I didn't grab the 660Ti for the girlfriend last week... but since she and I are mainly playing Borderlands 2 (pretty physx, lol), I think I'm okay with it. Still though, fantastic deal and bundle. This sort of performance increase by a driver this late in the game is pretty out of the ordinary!
-
Damn, I was set to buy a 670 and now this makes it all so hard!!!
I'd get a 7970 immediately but Borderlands 2 is the game I wanna play the most and it makes that even harder...

The game isn't THAT bad. I've been playing single player for the last few days and while it is repetitive (find terrorist -> car chase -> find terrorist -> foot chase -> repeat all over again), I find the gameplay to be straightforward and the graphics to be well above average. My only issue with these new shooters is that it feels I now need all 10 fingers on the keyboard due to a crazy number of actions being needed in-game.
