under the sticker, is it just regular flat delrin?

I've two questions, Gabe.

1. Will there be a bridge to support GFX cards, which are only 1 slot apart? In another word, they're all sandwiched together without any extra space.
2. Will removing the sticker void warranty? E.g. Taking apart the block to clean the interior?

bridge spacing: we are making bridges for 1.6" and 2.4" PCI spacing.
removing sticker: no it doesn't void your warranty, but if you have leaks upon re-assembly, it's your responsibility.

EVGA doesn't offer AMD boards. Swiftech will continue partnering with EVGA for upcoming NVidia products; I can't comment re. other AMD/partners.

Noticed that some of our competitors are offering the 1-slot bracket as an option; Also, I have not seen any back-plates being offered for this card, but the question is this:

What's the consensus for these two items? you prefer optional or included in price?

Both should be available but not included IMO.

Regarding your question:
a. I prefer to have all the extra items included in the box (bracket and backpate, etc). This way, the production of these extra items will be higher and the overall price lower! So, all these people who want the complete package will not pay a higher total price as they would if they would buy the items inividually. Not to mention the fact that many times, the availability of the blocks and backpates or brackets is not the same, meaning multiple orders and consequently increased postage fees!
b.There is at least one company producing backplates as addon to their 7970 waterblock, utilzing thermal pads for extra cooling.

I think both, include for those that absolutely have to have them (@ a small mark up (say 5%) compared to what they would cost individually for the "convenience" of an all inclusive kit), and sell individually for those that could care less or don't like spending on things they feel they don't need.

IMHO, I would rather have the backplate included. I really enjoy having a very complete accessories package and you guys have always been very generous in that area with the included barbs, clamps, etc. It's well worth while and makes the overall experience much better.

Thanks for your feed-back YALL, "in favor of including" seems to prevail, with solid rationale behind it. I personnaly concur, but wanted some feed-back. Dealers also prefer that (less spare parts to carry), and I prefer it also from a logistics stand-point. Given the $500 price-tag of these graphics cards, it seems that a few bucks more for a complete watgerblock package makes more sense.

I agree with most others, charge a little extra and include everything.

Any plans for an over clocking utility?

Gabe: when making those bridges imho you might use not rounded edges with big radius like for previous bridge for use with universal blocks, but with angular edges, to fit better with most of latest swiftech full cover blocks / tops of MCP35X / top of apogee HD. Or rather post several design options here to gatehr feedback.
And it's more with block design, i hope you have settled on specific distance to inlets from end of card, for different blocks to be uniteable with same bridge (uni-gpu + multi-gpu, or mixed vendor cards to get physx with amd for example), like it was talked about at one other thread.

Today i tried to redesign my loop on paper in order to be ready when swiftech waterblocks arrive. I think i am stuck since i have no idea of the bridges design (input, output, serial, parallel etc)
Gabe, it would be nice to have a preview of those bridges in order to be able to prepare accordingly...

Regarding churchy's post about the bridges, please allow me to add another parameter to the cf bridge "equation"... and that parameter is "efficiency". GPU waterblocks are restrictive, especially in crossfire or even quadfire. So, right angles might be an "effective" idea, but not sure if its going to be efficient as well, since these will cause even higher pressure drop...

Re. FC GPU being restrictive
- when setup in parallel, 2 blocks in SLI/CF are much less restrictive than a single CPU water-block, even less so in triple or quad
- with highly efficient Swiftech blocks, and given the low heat flux of modern GPUs, they are much less sensitive to flow than CPU's, so parallel setup is always preferred.
- I design our blocks with the least possible restriction, for instance, I calculate my channels cross section to be equivalent to that of 1/2" ID tubing or more whenever possible.

I believe that what Martin was referring to in the quoted article is excessive use of elbows.

I agree with the blocks from this side of the pond sentimentality. I've a large amount of Swiftech stuff for that reason. Blocks like this make the decision far easier.

Not sure about other manufacturers, but you might want to checkout both Koolance and EK that feature very similar design, which is necessitated by the card layout.

gabe: it's true, that >2 gpu blocks in parallel are very unrestrictive .. but at the expense of very low flow through each of blocks. IIRC i've seen someone stating that block needs 0.3-0.4 gpm minimum, with noticeable temp worsening @.25-.2 gpm. Imho in single loop everything with cpu block & motherboard full cover flow of around 1gpm might be common .. then with 1gpm/4, not much of it will go through each of gpu block. Even worse if splittable flow already is part of all flow by eg. using multiple outlets of swiftech's new HD cpu block. What's then - 0.1-0.2 flow? :(
So imho 4-way bridges should be 2parallel-serial-2parallel, 2-way bridges parallel or serial, hmm, don't know what would be best choice for 3-way :/ - all parallel? - or two parallel and last one in serial?
P.S.
Imho you hit the nail with waterbridge design :up:. Yours is another one i'd consider alongside EK's looks-wise (i don't like Aquacomputer's on that account).

I wonder if it's possible to make bridges configurable to have parallel or serial by user choice. Eg. by changing block "inlet ends/adapters" to bridge? One with one of inlets closed for serial (though maybe another one in mirror config with another one closed), another with both open for parallel.

Hmm, now that i think of writtings on the front of bridge regarding specific CF or SLI and specific blocks. Will it be exchangeable (by eg. stickers? and if by those, maybe include stickers of specific type in set of specific blocks?)?

I'd think that anyone who is planning on building a 3-way / 4-way GPU system shouldn't be looking at building a liquid cooling systems that can "only" push 1 GPM. I am not saying it wouldn't work with 1GPM because it actually would but I am saying that if someone is spending over $2,000 in VGA cards only (not even counting VGA blocks) should run two pumps in series just for redundancy (and you'll get quite a nice performance boost at the samem time). If you use an MCP35X2, an Apogee HD and 4x VGA blocks in parallel you'll be much closer than 2GPM than 1GPM... And at .5GPM per GPU you're good to go. You should even be able to add chipset and mosfet blocks in parallel without any problem.

That being said... I could make these bridges configurable in a blink of an eye :D

Gabe/Stephen, a suggestion for the bridge... don't limit the in/out ports to the top/bottom of the bridge. Please consider adding in/out ports on the side of the bridge (e.g., perpendicular to the current in/out ports). This will allow for greater flexibility in terms of what fittings are used and how tubing is routed, etc. Thanks.

stephenswiftech: there are few very resistive blocks around, with which even dual pumps may show <1gpm. eg. I recall few motherboard full cover blocks at skinneelab roundup, or in another one forum very recently there was one guy with single MCW80 :poke: and cpu block. With two D5 Varios in series he got 0.41 gpm :)

I think, you should listen this guy, he's not very adequate.

Shteud: as it later turned out, he had some gunking problems as well as he later posted. Still, DIY modding MCW80 in MCW80 style gave him +50% flow.

We already have 1mm clearance between the top of the caps and the housing in this area so we might not be affected; I contacted AMD to find out exactly how much taller this particular cap is. Production is arriving in the US in a couple of days. Depending on AMD's feed-back, and if necessary we can rework the production on our CNC's here before we release the block. This would only delay release by 2 to 3 days.

these blocks ate single slot

CF bridges are parallel only.

We've also designed very short telescopic fittings that will allow users to link multiple cards with the standard bridge either in series or in parallel. ETA within a week or two.

I am afraid that you have to proceed with this minor modification before releasing the blocks. The 1mm space you have is for safety reasons (minor bendings of the copper etc) so it would be nice for everyone to have at least that gap. Eventhough i do not have the part number EK refers to, it seems that its not only this partnumber that gets influenced. I posted the news here and quite a few people seem to have this taller cap:

Actually if you can disassemble the stock cooler, you should be able to re-assemble the card with our water-block fairly easily. We also have a new system whereby you will re-use the existing AMD spring which takes a lot of guesswork out of the equation.

Your forum (stephen) states that you have the blocks now, but waiting on quality control to clear them.
Is this true and where will they be available for purchase first.

We are adding the clearance hole for the extra long cap, so we won't have any issues with the boards that feature this oddity.

Taking pics, prepping the site, etc.. give it 72 hours :-)

Gabe what do you mean amd spring???? Are yoi talking about the cross looking thing that comes up under the card and screws into the stock fan? If so I am in trouble as I tossed all those parts........

Yes if you tossed these parts you cannot use our block. We can only use the stock cross-bracket retention.

Unfortunately, we also found one cosmetic issue with the sticker that is slightly bubbling at the VR cavity cover screws. The screws stick out 0.1 to 0.2mm and since the sticker is mirror black it obviously shows.

This obviously doesn't show once the block is installed, but it is really unfortunate as this product is otherwise gorgeous (particularly when installed with the logo lit up, it is truly sweet..)

There is no quick fix for this, and we need to rework the vr cavity cover screw countersinks to allow the screws to sink a tiny more, and to replace the sticker because once you remove it, it no longer looks good.


We should receive corrected VR covers and stickers within a week or so, then we'll need to rework the inventory.


Meanwhile, we will put the product on sale as is, with an advisory for a cosmetic defect, and a 10% discount on the MSRP.

Bridge x3 : $27.95

The product will go for sale online within 24 hours. We'll hold off shipping to retail channels until the cosmetic issue is fixed.

very nice looking part will be replacing my old komodo for sure.

I've been waiting since the beginning of February to get some water on my new rig.
From the looks of it, it will have been worth the wait.

he meant asus 7970 directcu ii... which is a poorly engineered card. I've got a couple yesterday and sending them back to vendor, not worth the money or trouble.

Mine OC's just fine and I have heard of reference cards too that can't even make my DCII default speeds... It's all a crap shoot and obviously you hear the moaners and complainers more than the happy few (like me).

Like I said I have two of DC2s, so my opinion is far from "baseless". Plus, if you bother to read multiple threads on personal experiences with these cards available all over the internet (for example the one one hardforum), you'll be aware of multiple design issues with this card which have nothing to do with oc'ing capability. Next time, try to stay informed before shooting "baseless conjecture and speculation" yourself :rolleyes:

in the second picture shown above with the backplate, there seems to be a backplate bending at the left side. Is this true or is it just the picture viewing aspect?

Having two DCII's makes you twice as right, which was marginally at best anyway. Still means nothing.
That thread on Hardforum is about the availability of the cards and obviously any subject can and will be conversed about, including disappointments. But if you read a little more closely you'd see that many people write about their success there too, just as if it was a mixed bag of luck like I already stated.

Any popular and eagerly awaited product will attract a lot of attention and this card sure drew its share.

Unless you have a technological degree and can dish out some hard figures on why the card is flawed, I will still say that you're only rambling about your own dissapointments and seem more to have some vendetta against that particular card now than *any* founded and substantial knowledge about it.

Ok I have an interesting,odd problem. I have a brand new board, video card, psu. When the block is mounted the computer will not power on at all. With the block off it fires right up. Could something be touching on the inside to short it. Been struggling with this for hours......... The card is an XFX 3gb black edition and is on the approved list

Have also tried three other video cards and the computer fires right up.

Could the initial problem with the taller caps because this issue.
