:eek::eek::eek:
love the 1st april :D
if it really an april fools joke, it's the most elaborate one ever :D
thats pure r_pe if its true lol nice comeback
OMG, that's a lot of work for an April 1st joke... almost makes you hope it isn't.
i hope it isn't, we will see :)
*scratches head*
can anyone explain these results?
http://www.amdzone.com/joomla/index....2&limitstart=5
Zambezi @ 2.8 GHz = 23398 vantage score with 14091 gpu score & 19231 cpu score
Core i7-975 EE = 19384 vantage score with 18637 gpu score & 21447 cpu score
core i7 gets higher gpu & cpu score yet the vantage score is lower? wtf
2 choices :
1) fake
2) idiot
"Finaly if all else fails AMD's Bulldozer has an aggressive cache system." lol
considering even the time lines up... 01 April 2010 01:01
yeah, that's gotta be an elaborate, and frankly well-played AF joke.
today i'm not buying for anything :D
BTW, isn`t Interlagos AMD`s upcoming server processor based on the Bulldozer core?Either way, but like they said in the article, by next year everything will be settled and Intel will finally have a worthy competition.I can`t wait!
Heh, I know the author back when we were both moderators on the vegastrike forums... he seemed like the type who might do all that work for an April fools, but I can't say for sure.
They should add a graph showing high temperatures with caption "The chip is designed to run at high temperature so there is no effect on quality or longevity."
i think were getting punked:cool:
Well, I emailed the author but I don't know if he even uses that email address anymore. In any case, the article is full of win.
pre-production chips at 3.2ghz, with the review posted on april 1st. Got me fooled, lol.
loved this chat:
http://www.amdzone.com/joomla/images...eMark3DGPU.png
What GPU were used with interlagos? ATI 9870? :D
1st april........
Lol, just got to that chart as well. Bit of a giveaway even though some of the other benches look fine...
I hope it true it will give intel a run for its money!
yeah, the only way any IT site could possibly pull an April fools is if they released info that turned out to be true. No one buys anything on this day anymore.
I want interlagos =(
Love some of the spelling errors, lol.
lulz...
GTX 580.....HD 5999..... n now bulldozer's benchmarks??!!?! painful to swallow all in 1 day......best april fool ever...lol...:-)
Where is sandy bridge they should have used their imagination :D
Does JF-AMD have anything to say in self defense? :cool:Quote:
The first part of the question, why us. That was answered by John Fruehe of AMD's server marketing division "AMDZone has had as long track record of helping AMD owners with general questions and in getting the truth out about their [AMD] products, as well as being the seconds largest AMD self help forums second only to the AMD forums itself. We find it only fitting that we should announce the upcoming Bulldozer and Bobcat cores on AMDZone."
When asked why now? John Fruehe answers again that Simply put the Bulldozer is so far ahead of the performance curve that we feel confident that even Intel with its next generation chip will not be able to match the likeness of the bulldozer design.”
zambezi 3.2 vs zambezi BE 3.2 has different result?
so many people doing the review???Quote:
I would like to thank Dresdenboy for is in depth analysis of the core changes, Abinstein and AussieFX for their review of the article, Chirs Tom for testing and the use of his site, to myself for pulling an all a few all niters to get the site ready and to get this article done on time, to John Fruehe for setting us up with the system and to anyone else I forgot.
i told DDB before that every1 will think its a joke but they wanted to release the infos right on... they said JF-AMD will back them and there wont be any doubts.
5 level cache system? I thought DRAM would be integrated into the core as well? lolzQuote:
Finaly if all else fails AMD's Bulldozer has an aggressive cache system.
L0 cache: 4 kB (8-way associative) trace cache for each thread (or core)
L1 cache: 16 kB (4-way) data cache per core 1 cycle latency and 128 kB (4-way) instruction cache per module
L2 cache: 2 MB (8-way) per module (shared between two cores), full-speed
L3 cache: 8 MB shared between all cores, the L3 cache with a latency of 24 cycles will be able to serve up to 2 requests per (NB) clock cycle simultaneously and transfer data with 16B/clock to each of the reciepients.
L4 cache: AMD has also announced that all Black Editions and Opterons models will come with 32/64MB L4 cache made possible through chip stacking. But now a bit more about the details. The instruction fetch unit (IFU) fetches code from the L1 instruction cache (at 32 Bytes/cycle).
rofl forl
lol :D
The truth is that considering that Opterons always receives first the Cores featuring major architectural improvement, means that there are pretty high chances that JF-AMD, being a high ranking AMD employee from the Server (Opteron), will be one of the first in using a Bulldozer Engineering Sample if he is not using one right now. Obviously, for everything that NDA stands for, I don't even think that we will come close to post on this Thread.
Opterons were first with K8, were first with Dual Core, were first with K10/Quad Core, were first with Six Core, and will obviously be the first with Bulldozer. Mark my words.
This is not true.
Admin, please kill this thread IMMEDIATELY.
Awwwww.
Still an epic April Fools.
some intel fans probably cried and wept for a couple of hours before realising it's an elaborate prank :ROTF:
mind=blown :D
looks like fruehe is super pissed...

JF-AMD:
This is TOTALLY uncool.
I could lose my job over this prank.
TAKE THIS THING DOWN NOW, DO NOT SPREAD IT.
I don't know who had this idea, but this is not good.
http://www.amdzone.com/joomla/index....2&limitstart=2
A page of BS...:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Quote:
One thing that has been confirmed is that the Bulldozer core has been shown to be incredibly resilient during early manufacturing samples, so much so that AMD has told us that it is experimenting using the 28nm bulk silicon process with only small changes to the die. Although AMD has not confirmed that they will use half stepping, they didn’t deny it either.
32 nm SOI with Immersion Lithography
28 nm SOI with Immersion Lithography half node process
One of the first things that AMD confirmed for us was that the upcoming AM3+ will be the last of the pin grid array (PGA) and that all upcoming processor would be land grid array (LGA) more on that later.
The current AM3 Phenom II only use 938 pins, the upcoming Bulldozer and Bobcat cores will use all 941 pins. One of the benifiets of the AM3+ is that all AMD chips will be able to use DDR3 1866 (PC3 -15000) for staggering 60000MB/s as well as having advanced powersavings.
Going forward AMD’s will implement AMD’s Future socket or AMD’s Fusion socket, (Socket AF1) a massive Socket 1591 pins sock that will be the first of AMD’s next generation sock supporting DisplayPort 1.2, Full PCI Express 3.0 32 lane, and the addition of two more DDR channels allowing for quad channel memory.
amdzone is an official amd site right??? if so this cant be an april fool's joke
btw welcome back amd aka the pentium killers :D
AMDzone is not an official site, however I'm pretty sure JF-AMD is in on it. There's absolutely no way that someone can get fired because someone else mentions them in an April Fools joke. Either JF-AMD is completely overreacting, or he is putting on a show for our benefit ;)
The fact that Dresdenboy posted this just after the article went up and he himself is mentioned in the article makes it seem like this is a bit of a coordinated effort. Would be awesome if this turned out to be a 'reverse april fools' where they try to make people think real info is actually fake, but that's a long shot.
Nice date & time, Thursday, 01 April 2010 01:01 <-- lol idd
AMDZone is not an official AMD official site, is more an AMD Fanboy site. AMD Forums, is however official as it is hosted by AMD themselves, but there is rarely an AMD employee wandering there.
Seems that there is a real reason about JF-AMD becoming so paranoic about this April's Fools joke, beginning with the fact that its name is involved in an article with tons of supposed data leaks (The architectural overview I recall having read it on Anandtech so is not new, but the fake benchmarks are. I do however actually believe that he got a Bulldozer or is soon to receive one, because as I stated, Opterons always are first to receive major architectural upgrades).
I suppose than convincing your superior that you are not related to a leak when you are in touch with the enthusiast community isn't easy. I would just silently leave this topic in the cold to ensure that no one loses his sanity here.
Yeh... the review also looks like a fanboy's wet dreams. I wonder if Theo Valich (aka Barselona-break-30K-in-3DMark06) was participated in this.
Any way, i guess, from now and on we will hear a lot about this "super-puper-intel-smasher" from some ppl on a different forums who know nothing about "first April" meanings.
Well, only thing we haven't seen today is "nVidia - we were just kidding, Fermi is 512shaders/900 MHz/200W" thread..
But I fear it will come.
allright thanks for the clarification guys .....
@JF-AMD: since you are mad about the leaks does it means that they are real ????
Turbo on Steroids... copymuch...
I wish these were real alright, but I have a feeling that Bulldozer won't disappoint.
nice fake i believed more than a minute !!!
nice 1st april fake !!!
AMD would fire JF-AMD for this? That is ridiculous. They have to be able to take an April Fools joke. Or maybe JF is April fooling us (didn't sound like it though).
1st April mech, maybe it's a fake from JF too.
And the work of JF-AMD is to control information about their products on the web. Even it's a fake, stupid rumours about +40% of performance is not good for AMD. Evrybody remember the fiasco of Agena.
Bulldozer is new, bulldozer is shelduled for 2011 and said for Q1 if we are lucky and in 32nm.
No samples in 32nm are available, this is clearly impossible. At best some ES with lower cache in 45nm. There is 6 months for GF to ramp up a new process. If Q1 is start of BD modules on market, at best ES will be in nature about november/december 2010. And the first ship will not ready before october, and you can be sure of that, AMD will keep huge secret on the ship.
I think this kind of rumour is not good for JF-AMD, even for us it's fun.
Don't worry JF, most of us support your work.
First of all, this is not real.
Second,BD is really fast :).
Haha that Interlagos score is unreal!
Wouldn't it be funny if they release the CPU and that is actually it's real score:eek:
3DMark vantage and gaming results shows it's a big fake :D
The REAL April Fools joke is that Bulldozer won't even be available on April 1, 2011!
And JF-AMD will probably lose his job over the *actual* BD benchmarks.:rofl::rofl:
-First an obvious aprils fool article.
-Then JF saying "I could lose my job over this!!! TAKE IT DOWN!!!" just to make it more credible.
-And now the article taken down.
Gotta be real
Good Game
However there is a little truth in every joke ;)
LOL Epic. Whatever the intent and outcome, John losing his job would be the worst possible result.
This was incredibly uncool.
I have had to spend a lot of my day cleaning this mess up with sales and customers. It is not inconceivable that I will have to spend months replying to emails (I still get questions about incorrect information around the Istanbul launch which was almost a year ago.
Thos images are floating around on the web and they will resurface. If my CEO, or my VP saw this before me, they could have assume that I was swomehow in on it. That could have been a career limiting move. How many times am I going to have to respond to a customer or sales person who has an email with some fake slide or benchmark chart? How many times have you been forwarded an image in email? This is going to last long part april first, and the furth you get from april first, the harder you have to fight it because the aura of april fools day is gone. Just the fact that some people actually speculated that I was somehow in on this means a simple explanation will not suffice. That just means more work for me personally.
If someone had not used our actual product code name and not used my name this would have been real funny. To use both not only impacts the product going forward, but it also impacts me personally. This eats up the time of the company for me to have to fix this mess, and with as much time as I spend online in forums after hours, this also cuts into my time personally.
This was pretty funny alright but using someone's name without permission was not really cool..
I just hope everything works out for you JF-AMD.. im sure no one would want you to loose your job.
Glad to know that you are on top this mess..
Kind Regards :)
I hope it passes quickly for you, so you can keep posting for us. John, you have been great answering questions.
I also think the joke was really stupid.
I'm glad the 1st will be over in 23 minutes. We can get back to the real world again.
This is like the time last year that I "invented" the E8700 out of thin air. http://www.xcpus.com/reviews/140-Int...re-Page-1.aspx
Then the chip actually did get made :p: So maybe Interlagos will really have that level of performance, we can always hope right
Those dang E8700 pictures I made are still most of the top search results online and have snuck all over the place and left the April Fools part of it all behind, so I can understand your concern since you actually care about what info spreads around :yepp:
I kinda wonder what is going trough admins heads because they havent still killed this thread even though there have been good actual reasons for doing so (still they acted very protective to MM and Kingpins containers internals which is penny business which is kinda amusing). They let it float on the internet out of spite or something? Maybe instead theyll ban me for saying this and this thread is let to live on?
Im not critizing anyone but i think this kind of rumours are not ok if they can harm someone personally.
Better to be in the papers, than not. I would think in future just laughing it off and saying not true, would of been a far better way of dealing with it. The reason the story isn't dead on here, if I may be frank on the mater, is because you did come in with a OTT response.
If anything you should be pleased that your willingness to engage the lay public, has caused your name to be mentioned in the article, and long let your forum face live on.
As they say, better to be talked about (in the AMD sense), than not. AS a marketing bod, I'm sure you will agree with that.
Not directly, but your previous actions were bound to create the premises for something like this.
The constant hype ( either direct or simulated ) and raising people's expectations while at the same time downplaying the competitor's products created a certain aura around Bulldozer. While obviously, this is beneficial for your company from a marketing POV, at the same left you vulnerable. You've engaged with speculators ( like Dresdenboy ) and offered inside snipets from time to time directing him.
The question is why are you offended by the prank ( albeit a bad taste one ) :
- your name in it ? Like I've said, self-inflicted. This is what happens when you loiter on an enthusiast site where the average age is 16 years and everybody's problem is how to OC their microwave. Of course, going into real server forums with real server people and engineers is a very different league with other expectations.
- are the predictions too close to reality ? If so, kudos to Dresdenboy and his research. His ambition and your snippets put him on the right track. At the same time, this let's the sniffers at Intel to sense that something is going on in this direction. Whether they've already studied the work of Dresdenboy or they are currently, is a different topic. With 1 year to go, this might give them some threshold to aim for with Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge.
Psychosis ? I beg to differ; my only weapons are logic and good old common sense. Somehow, you seem to lack at least one of them.Quote:

kill the dam thread already.
well, he loves doing marketing
this guy told people to wait a little more in a thread about intel xeon 5600 series
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...8&postcount=27
what would you expect? :ROTF:
i think we need one of our techy users to write a post algorithm which checks what topics you post in and what the context of your posts are and label your vendor fanboy relationships under the user name/title.
then allow people to hide or suppress posts by fanboys of their choice.
that sure would make this forum quite xtreme as far as webpage technology goes. and id bet it could catch on in alot of other places too
funny how here fanboys lable others as fanboys... this fits perfectly fine for this issue
i cant believe that AMDzone did this.even though its just one member(administrator) that did it,others(mod's and member's)seem to think it was fine.
but a few there do see it as a problem.they still have the thread open for discussion which makes me wonder why some here are calling for THIS thread to be closed?
XS didnt do this.i dont think JF-AMD is calling out anyone here, when he says this was uncool.and i can totally understand him when he says that by quoting him for
this joke, its puts his job at risk and his reputation with his clients.this was very bad judgment on their part, yet in their thread the debate goes on over there about
whether it was wrong or not.it clearly was wrong to have put him in this position.
the sad thing is,as this thread shows, lots of people think AMDzone is the official forum of AMD.which its clearly not
??! I was talking about AMDZone. That's where the story broke out, didn't it ? Whether statistically this forum has a similar distribution, that could very well be so.
His post said nothing about the story behind. If you can't connect the dots between his excessive ( for such a ranking figure in a company ) presence all over the enthusiast forums, his motives and what it ended up, sorry, your problem. If it fits you, please continue to take his words as truth. Let the "fanboys" to actually use their brain and not be so gullible.
We're talking about different things. His post was how is this affecting him, while I'm talking how he got there.
I believe we can agree to disagree on the topic in the future.
Coming from someone who has Informal set as friend tells volumes. At least I'm not indulging in hypocrisy.
I think that lots of people are thinking that AMDzone is the official AMD fanboys forum.
Few years ago I entered that trolls nest, and I mentioned an Intel CPU. Suddenly I got 10 trolls jumped on me like I have killed all their family. They said that I'm working for Intel. I wish I was :D
So because he interfaces with the community and occasionally talks about some aspects of bulldozer (something we don't have much information about) means that he deserves to have his name attributed to something he didn't say in a fake article and possibly harm his career?
