Now confirmed released dat is November 18th!!!!
Well, it would be awesome if its true.
Not news.Quote:
The cover of the latest issue of the Malaysian gaming magazine features the game's protagonist, Niko Bellic, behind a headline saying "Now on console, soon on PC"...we can't confirm if the title belongs to a true first look at the game, or just a collection of online rumors put to print.
Im sure GTA will be on PC in the fall or winter of this year, or early next year.
Most certainly at Christmas time or even later since take2 needs to sell additional content coming in fall to all xbox users.
i really hope it's coming to the pc within 2008. now that would be awesome!
on a side note: megagames REALLY should redesign their site. man, used to visit that site 5 years ago and even then the layout was already totally outdated
lol i thought it was confirmed to go on pc at the time it released to console. also i thought it was confirmed to come on september. lol cant remember why i got an impression like this
Someone really thought that GTA IV was a console exclusive title?
This rumour was already crushed by PC Gamer
They have always come to consoles first... saying it's exclusive to get people to buy it. Then a little under a year later they announce it's coming to PC.
I don't know about you but I can't wait :D
I still play Vice City sometimes lol
gta4 was the biggest dissapointment of the year for me.
Cant buy anything, no empire mode, the promised u could enter more buildings but you cant enter that many tbh.
it wasnt a bad game but to many things are missing in it and those are realistic things.
Sorry to hear that.
Won many awards
PS3 perfect 10 rating
XBOX360 perfect 10 rating
I have new shirts, new shoes, new suits, and new guns. I buy hot-dogs and cheeseburgers all the time, what game are you playing?
You are the empire... your building it as you progress.
the promised u could enter more buildings, and they did just that. There are more buildings to walk inside of than any other GTA game.
They almost removed swimming...
My only complaint is that I can break signs... but not trees.
I think the game's overrated from what I've played/seen/heard, people just hand out 10's like they're banksicles these days. I'm definitely excited to hear this none the less, though I figured it'd make its way to the PC soon enough.
I want this game to come to PC so we can get 100 player servers and just go crazy hahaha, multi theft auto anyone???? PC's will forever be the best because of the modding communities.
That'd be hilarious, can't wait to see what that is like.
I hope they will make use of the extra RAM a PC can offer the game, imagine more cars and stuff like that.
WOW... I haven't played a GTA game on my PC since I played gta san andreas on my celeron 2.5ghz with intergrated intel graphics.
I am kind of looking forward to this.
@Calmatory + Confused_User
i dont mean realistic as in realism i mean that the expectations i had for GTA4 were realistic.
havent slept much in the last 2 days so i gues my last post wasnt that clear.
My expectations for GTA4 were that it would have everythign SA and VC and the PSP games had with way better grafix and maybe a few nice additions. GTA4 does have nice grafix but it doesnt have many things wich the previous things had. Now is it unrealistic to expect those things?
@3lfk1ng
 wow GTA4 won awards.
Who cares if it won awards. most review magazines and sites can be bought or just write what sells. Every site says the same bloated crap about GTA4 they go on about all the grt things about it but keep their mouth shut about the downsides.
The thing i meant was you cant buy companys and if you had actualy thought about it you could have figured that.
You were able to buy companys and do missions based on those in the last few GTAs and this one doesnt have it.
Is it unrealistic to expect GTA4 to have something that the last 2 GTAs had?
And my guess is that it will be the extra content that we will have to pay for.
And if you see how many buildings GTA4 has no you can not enter that many.
And btw do you actualy know what empire mode is? Cause GTA4 does not have it. maybe you think you are building an empire in GTA4 wich must mean that you havent finished it cause you are not building an empire in GTA4 (hope i havent spoiled it for anyone).
Somehow it feels like this GTA isnt made by the people that made the last few. A diffrent kind of humor, its actualy to serious compared to the last 2.
Pretty sure all the empire mode stuff will be in future sequels, not like it mattered; By the end of the game I had more money than I knew what to do with.
GTA IV is a good game but it just didn't grip me the same way the previous ones did, too many missions were very similar and the plot in general was quite average. All in all it was just another over-hyped game for me.
GTA IV was a MAJOR step down from Vice City (I didn't play San Andreas). No buying properties or businesses, horrible music, the driving was too realistic, and the missions were far too repetitive. I sold it once I finished the last mission.
Funny thing is I'm reading this news and the song I'm listening to is Propellerheads - History repeating :D
Just like older GTAs
:)
everybody and there mom already knows this.
As for the game itself, it doesn't exactly look next gen on the ps3. (it looks like crap, i was expecting alot more, but it was very aliased and the colors and rendering made it look like a san andreas mod.)
I'm sure someone will post some pics to prove me wrong, but the ttis didn't really challenge themselves on this one.
w00t! Im looking forward to this one, and the modding community that will be following it much like VC and SA.
Im sorry, malaysian pc magazine = confirmed? i smell TRS as perkham puts it.
Ill play the single player and have some fun, and when bored like GTA 3 I have now (old I know, but strangely awesome with some mods and cheats) I will run around and blow :banana::banana::banana: up and die in crazy ways and do car stunts. But the biggest thing I have been waiting for, for centuries for GTA to have, which it finally does and will be amazing once it hits PC... is the multiplayer, havent played the game yet, but the multi options sound so damn fun, exspecially in the hands of the PC world.
confirmed or not who cares, we all know its coming regardless....whatever anyone says. They just dont speak of it cause they dont want pc owners with consoles to wait, profit, profit, profit. But I agree, confirmed from malaysian magazine LOL, better yet, malaysian magazine image.
rockstar announces gta 4 for pc:
http://www.gta4.net/news/index.php
pressrelease:
http://ir.take2games.com/ReleaseDeta...leaseID=326627
they will start selling it on november 18/21.
a bit late, i was hopin for august / september.
When it comes to games such as GTA the question is not if it will come out on PC but rather when it will come out on the PC. That being said i look forward to playing this game with my mouse. If there ever was one game that you could do insane amount of head-popping headshoots with a mouse GTA is it. Maybe this time i might shoot down all the flying rats.
Dont want. Already beated 3x on 360. Anyways...
Map isn't big enough, but that is X360's fault for holding back PS3's Blu-Ray. I wish they would add more stuff for 2-player mode. I had fun traveling to Las Vegas replica in San Andreas with 2 player. Priceless.
Too late now, already had fun blowing up the city a few dozen times. Fun game but that's sooo Summer 2008 :p:
not that I'm aware of. The 360 version I heard is running at 720p w/2x AA though it's got more pop in, maybe some other quality degredations. Either way GTA + PC + 1920x1200 FTW!
What d'you mean? Did they take something out? If it's in reference to the multiplayer, I haven't played it myself so I don't know. Actually I don't even think I knew GTA4 had multiplayer until reading this thread.
yeah, tbh, it's funny as hell that even console games are being consolized (to work on both consoles in the same way)... lmao!
that's just sad. i think none of both consoles is maxed out, as developers try to find a way for the game to work on both platforms, while leaving some advantages of the specific console behind.
that's just my impression now and then.
I'd imagine it hurts it even more now that we're often using multiplatform game engines. I don't know this for a fact, but just taking the Unreal Engine as an example. It's gotta be taking sacrifices in both performance and features to some extent in order to work so well on all platforms. Back in the day it was much more common place to just build an engine from scratch for every game you made. I certainly don't blame them from moving away from that as games become more complex, but there's sacrifices that come with everything.
I tried the game on a PS3 and I also think the driving became too realistic for this kind of action-oriented game.
For those who are still interested, the release date has been announced:
"Grand Theft Auto IV will be arriving on the PC on November 18th and 21st in North America and Europe, respectively."
http://server1.megagames.com/news/ht...nnounced.shtml
Weee! I cant wait. :)
Awesome!! cant wait.
anyone knoe if the graphics will be the same as they are on the PS3/360? IMO they sucked on the console's, i like something a little better.
The bold is what im excited about !!!!!!!Quote:
After several rumors and leaks, Rockstar Games finally decided to unveil one of the least surprising game announcements in recent years: Grand Theft Auto IV will be arriving on the PC on November 18th and 21st in North America and Europe, respectively.
"We are very excited to be releasing the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The whole team is dedicated to bringing an amazing gaming experience to the PC. The game looks and plays beautifully on PC and we can't wait for people to play it."
Developed by series creator Rockstar North and set in Liberty City, the latest installment in the enormously successful Grand Theft Auto series features a painstakingly detailed and life-like city for players to explore; a rich, immersive narrative experience; an original soundtrack highlighting the cultural eclecticism of Liberty City; and newly expanded multiplayer just for the PC.
Man I can't wait till November to pick this game up. So many hookers are going to die...........is that healthy ? bah I don't care. I had some much fun in the previous games just messing around not even doing the story.
It's much harder to find hookers compared to previous GTA games. They're only out there at night and only in certain(read trashy) areas. Hopefully Rockstar will improve graphics a bit for PC.
It should run much better hopefully. The PS3 definitely chugs when there is lots of stuff on the screen
Today Rockstar Games released quite a hefty FAQ on the installation process :
http://pc.ign.com/articles/934/934268p1.htmlQuote:
- Activation via Internet (1x per system, no limits, Fallback for systems without web access)
- Copy protection Securom: The original disc is required for playing (Execpt: Download version of GTA 4, for example from Direct 2 Drive)
- Requirements for playing (singleplayer): Games for Windows Live account for saving/achievements (1x free creation), original disc, Securom runs in the background
- Requirements for playing (multiplayer): Active internet connection, Games for Windows Live account, For uploading videos: Rockstar Social Club Account.
- If you don't have web access or don't want to connect your gaming PC to the Internet, Rockstar wants to offer a not yet specified system to activate GTA 4 via another PC with web access. Details are supposed to be available on launch.
- For the normal GTA 4 (PC) version with disc installation, activations are unlimited. But the original disc is required for playing.
- This does not apply for legally downloaded versions of GTA 4: Depending on the vendor the following is possible: Five parallel installations with the possibility to revive a "free” installation, if an old installation is deleted. For this purpose the customer has to have web access with the PC GTA 4 is installed on.
- Those playing GTA 4 with an illegally hacked version have, according to Rockstar, to fear that the game will not be fully playable.
- If you change two major components of your PC (like the graphics card or the CPU), you will possible have to reactivate GTA 4.
i hope steam will be better option for this bs
Apparently Securom will be present in the Steam version as well..... i'm very curious as to how this will work without a disk
Add to this forced use of Windows live for online play = :(
Source
:(.
I can't care less about securom anymore, since it's now common to see this protection in many games. I won't stop myself of playing GTA IV because it uses this protection. It sure is annoying, but I don't care, I just wanna play games, not worry about every protection of every game. 32 players, improved graphics, that's all I wanted! Now get this game out already Rockstar!
who cares about securom
just buy the game and crack it (i crack most games because of annoying disk switching, of course. and now its securom)
You may want to update the release date as well for this old, revived thread...
http://store.steampowered.com/app/12210/
New release date: Dec 2, 2008
With regard to SecuRom, I don't mind it as long as it works like Valve's games, which seems to be the case.
With CD's you can probably use Alcohol or Daemon to emulate the CD.
Gameplay wise, as long as this game preserves a decent GTA gameplay, but with the much improved graphics, cinematic, and especially the addition of multiplayer (without mods), I dont really mind if the single player has a bit less gameplay value than GTA SA (as Ive been reading around).
SecuRom is sure annoying, but this version doesn't limit your installs. Not like EA...
With all of that it BETTER be a DAMN good port.
Ugh. SecuRom is soo annoying.
Why can't they just follow Steam's footsteps?
I don't even see the point of having SecuROM in the Steam version at all. What are they trying to accomplish? Steam requires a login so you can't share the game with ten of your friends. The Steam version doesn't have a CD so no CD-check can be performed. Unlimited installations are allowed so no need to keep track of that.
It's kinda ironic when companies are deliberately pissing off their customers for no reason whatsoever and then complain about people who pirate the game to get rid of all the DRM crap.
there are ways to crack steam , if it didnt then have securom it would be much easier to pirate it through steam than a retail version.
I was going to buy this game. Now Im just going to download the torrent.
No need to resort to cracks/emulators/bypasses because I am willing to pay good money for well implemented software.
None of this DRM SecuRom ROOTKIT crap. Are you kidding me? I did not just fork over money to have this done.
Steam rocks. SecuRom is horrible. More companies should take note of that.
I think that this whole SecuRom is just pissing off legitimate computer-literate customers.
I'll be Happy to install steam because it's not INVASIVE.
The fact that I can uninstall Steam without DRAMA is a huge plus. I can go to my other computer and log in, and boom.
I'm playing TF2 on my other rig.
Having never played any GTA game, are they any good?
The only console games I was seriously hoping would end up on PC are Gears of War 2 and The Force Unleashed.
Its geting to the point where Valve is the only company that Im willing to buy a game from. Just instal Crysis and look at the changes made to your registry.
GTA III wasn't really good though, and yeah I hate SecuRom either, boo!!
i wanted to buy this game very badly but now with securom+windows live to play online im seriously reconsidering.
Damn, Im with u guys. Screw securom, my money isnt going to be wasted on that POS.
Securom? wtf? Im a big fan of GTA though, so if my dvd player breaks down or i have to reinstall windows. It will probably be worth it.
there is a high chance my money gone to L4D
smb have it already
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/9...sc00102cl3.jpg
but can't play lol
AHHHHHHH, i want!!!!!!! tuesday for USA.
Did you guys read the IGN interview (that n!Cola posted) at all? :shakes:
http://pc.ign.com/articles/934/934268p1.html
I see a lot of people that are probably planning to miss out on GTAIV simply because they read "SecuROM".
So from what I understood from this is that:Quote:

depend on the vendor, ONLY for the downloadable version.
Considering Steam is one of the vendors, I would not be surprised that their policy will be the same as Valve's games (unlimited installs on any PC, as long as you're logged in your account). So in other words, it's not really Rockstar's fault if it's not the CD/DVD version and your vendor restricts the number of installs.
IF Steam puts a limit on the number of installs for GTAIV, it's not the end of the world. You could still emulate the CD/DVD with a disk image emulator (like Daemon or Alcohol). As quoted above, you have unlimited reinstall and you can install on any PC, as long as you "have" the CD/DVD in the drive.
its not the limmit of installs its that securom 7.x (or anything above 4.6) allows for remote root access to your computer and is constantly doing things when u are idle and is running through hidden processes and drivers
would u purposely install AV200x or join a bot net, becouse if u install anything with securerom past 4.6 then thats what u are doing, and while its not like starforce that will flash your dvd drive and stick it permanent PIO mode with non printed disks or kill the drive out right, its still bad and a huge problem
then requiring win live login is another huge problem since that is glitchie and has its own spy ware built into it and when they use it exclusively for saving like GOW its just ridiculous, that is when i decided its not going to be a perches of mine ive looking foreword to this game for a long time and now i cant buy it if not out of principal becouse the retail wont work on my computer since live breaks things and if its like GOW i dont want to go through a day of arguing to return it. and i heard that the new POP is doing it also and i was looking forward to that one as well but i wont be buying it now, and that leaves kingdom hearts:CoM for the ps2 and new phone and no pc games (and thats disappointing)
with the required specs and securom i cant see this game selling since most people with comps that can run it wont be using anything with securom 7
i cant wait! ive been playing gta sa like crazy gettin back in the mood lol
Heres my thought process, its $29.99 used at GameStop for the Xbox 360, I can buy that and since its not a graphically intense title and not have to worry about having a worse experience than on PC. That way I wont screw my computer up either... :)
GTA Vice City is one of the best games of all time. Its sad that Securom is used, i will never install a game that uses securom.
Damn, you have to have Windows Live account to play online?
That is woefully narrow minded. I have a mate and he has a PS3, we were hoping to be able to play online in GTA4.... I guess that will not be possible now? :(
I'll probably end up buying this, I just want to wait and see how the reviews turn out and if many people cry about bugs etc... I have bought all the other GTA games and loved them.
Why is everyone crying over SecuROM?
I've had games which are SecuROM protected for years, Crysis, F.E.A.R, Bioshock...etc no problems at all. SECUROM DOES NOT EQUATE TO STAR FORCE.
STAR FORCE IS THE AXIS OF EVIL!!!
SecuRom is only a tool for software developers to protect their copyrighted content.
If you don't like it then....use Steam as Steam rocks the socks off :D
I've been using Steam since 2004, although you must keep a careful eye out on Prices, FYI Left4Dead (good game by the way), is actually cheaper in the shops than through steam. (You only have to enter your CD-Key into Steam and then you do not need the Disc).
Perhaps Rockstar should have gone down that route as SecuROM with it's spinning Discs can be a bit annoying at times!
John
My experience on xbox360 was very unsatisfying. All the pop-up objects, stuttering and freezes just mess up the fun. And I was playing this on brand new falcon console which i got with gta4 on day of release...
I really hope PC version will be lot better and with the help of modding community graphics should be amazing.
