Unlocked black Phenoms to come next week

There have been rumors about this coming along,but it seems it is near retail introduction :).Next week or so and we should meet the 9600 BlackEdition and hopefully the "HTT wall" will be avoided with 3Ghz+ speeds on all cores .

AMD didn’t even wanted to give up this information at investors event but it is working on the introduction of a brand new of Black series of Phenom, meant for the retail.

This CPU has been inspired by a great success of the Athlon black edition box 5000+ and 6400+ series and AMD hopes to get the same success with the unlocked Phenom's.

Black edition at 250$ 2.4ghz, would be priceless since macci confirmed his cpu (not BE though) booted fine at a blistering -80C° :D

Why is that?

Changing the multi on a TC is still a good thing, because the Tri-Cores will be cheaper, and there seems to always be one chip that won't OC as much as the rest.
Which can be set individually.

Considering the issues at hand I agree! But from a Marketing perspective they will late I would assume after initial hopefully prosperous results for with unlocked Multi action and get the buzz going:rolleyes:

Tell ya what this DFI LanParty UT 790FX-M2R is a damn good board and have just barely scratched the surface on it potecial.

I'm personally wondering if Macci had anything to do with this decision.

Maybe a few words of wisdom like " The Phenom needs to attract enthusiasts, and right now it cannot compete without an unlocked multi, due to issues with early revisions of boards/bios and CPU's, at least give them SOMETHING to look forward to.... remember the early days, those unlocked CPU's sold"

Just a thought.... maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt anyone knows that platform better than macci, I'd bet on that.

man, am i ever glad i kicked my amd to the curb on my last build.....

im much happier with my current build, and with the options that intel has to offer over this crap. i would have never stopped second guessing myself if i would have built my current rig on this second tier ghetto platform.since slapping an E6600 in my case, i havn't looked back ;-)

in light of what AMD is offering these days, i almost feel sorry for you AMD fanboi's :-)

but thats just my opinion.

Had a opportunity to test two totally different rigs i built up yesterday(Whilst waiting for a client to arrive), one a Intel 6850 / Nvidia and a M3A/ Phenom system (for me to fiddle with). Well the client played with the Phenom while i added/ configured his video capture card that he had brought to his new Intel rig. He was very impressed with the responsiveness of the Phenom system, later i ran his new rig through a few benchmarks to satisfy him that it was fast(and it is very fast). He was very happy with the rig but in windows the little Phenom system was popping open windows far faster, and i heard his interest/ concern over this small item. :cool:

It is very clear Intel has a faster CPU and it should also be very clear to you Intel boys that us here wanting to buy AMD have different reasons than your clear cut "Because its faster" attitude. Youre client is right, INTEL systems always feel slow in windows, does the same on my 4 intel rigs, all with 6850 and P35 or 680 mobos. AMD is much more respnsive then INTEL in win, don´t know why :confused:

i want to know if the unlocked multi is something they have planed for a while. or if this is their responce for having so many problems with the B2.

also all the people hoping for the B3, i would stop. weve had our hearts broken many times, actually ever time, we get new info on how phenoms really perform. we all wish for them to to good, but it shouldnt be at the cost of our soul melting away.

im not saying the black editions are crap, im just saying i want to trash my 939 rig, and its on whatever i can get for 600$ to cover the cpu, ram and mobo. and right now its either waiting for 45nm intel cheapness. or waiting for quality phenom midrange. either way i look at whats the best i can get for an ok price, but all options keep telling me to keep on waiting.

Nothing much wrong with the b2 Phenom's at the moment im doing stability testing first and so far despite all the talk of the tlb bug ive not had a single lock up, runs well almost as fast as my backup k8 2.6. So if you want a cheap upgrade pick up a Asus M3A some ocz platinum rev2 ddr2 800 and you should be good to go.

Yes I belive the errata issue has been blown way out of proportion. I have not seen any confirmed end users encountering it. The key word in that ad is "traditionally." What is the difference between AMDs definition and yours?
I just hope resellers (Newegg:cool: ) don't try and jack up the retail price.

I'm hoping that they'll hit mid 3's like the Black K8's. It may be wishfull thinking but... what else we got? We will learn something now though, throwing out the HTT barrier.

AMD has always thrown too many eggs in the basket, trying to advance the chip set. Intel chided them on 64bit and then stole their technology. Now we're talking native quad. New eggs... new basket case.

AMD needs a motto. Something like, "Trust Us. We'll get our :banana::banana::banana::banana: together, someday."

This "traditionally Dual-Core price" is that compared to AMD's Dual Cores or all Dual Cores?

I was supposed to sell the 9500 this last Friday and pick up the 9600 unlocked but the uncle who was to pass it on to me said there's none in the EU available to them, so I decided to keep a little longer. I doubt they'll have them for Xmas around EU. US seems to have them though. If I was there I could've grabbed onto it to test by now. :(
I only want to see 5000 BE ocability to compare properly with a Q6600/Q9450 soon.

Duno, but if the HTT wall is the main problem holding the Phenom back, and the HTT wall is at 230, 3450MHz could be possible, allthoug i doubt it alot.
