[First Look] DFI 680i LT NF-680i LT SLI (56K Warning~~~)
-
-
First mobo where you have to install your own Chipset HSF?
I wonder how many RMA's DFI will take because of it...
-
-
oc quad core man ... i want a nforce board that can oc QUAD CORE beyond 400FSB ..
-
Nice, can't wait for OC results and benches...

I'm thinking the same, because some people are noobs.

Yeah seriously...
I am far from noob, but I have sure done some noobish things.
Whatever you do don't drink and install hardware ;)
-
I just can't wayt to see max quad core fsb results.
Subscribing :D
-
Thanks for the pictures, are you under NDA for benches and overclock results or can you post them? :)

What size fan does that NB cooler take?
-
Sweet looking board, like the DIY chipset cooler, very nice. I noticed it's the LT version of the 680i chipset. In the last thread regarding this board, Oskar Wu was quotd as saying that the LT version was a better overclocker......looking forward to your results with this board.

Sub $250, and 500MHz FSB+ doable and I may have to buy this :p:

Striker is slow lmao.

OMG! Alright... now I oficially need one of that! :eek2:
-
The orange is killing me, they should go back to ultra-b or d lanparty colors.
That NB HS is huge forget a big heatsink fitting on there without mods.
It's funny the SB HS on there looks like a regular NB heatsink.
Cool box.
Lets see some results.
-
motherboard of my dreams is finally here :)
good riddance to this evga 680i POS

Yeah the mobo of my dreams is on it's way (infinity dark)
-
holy :banana::banana::banana:tard! thats the nicest DFI box ive ever seen.
-
 My eyes, is it just them pics, my screen or what, that looks like the brightest, most illuminous board DFI has released so far, i know DFI like bright, but damn i almost burnt my eyes looking at them pci-e sockets!
Oh and no, its not a bad thing, i love that board:toast:

well i for one would rather self mount a vital chipset like that then get one that came like this:
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/IMG_0562.jpg
:nono:
Seems like DFI's the first board company to get there NB cooling right. Cant say much for EVGA. Thank god she's under a DD maze4 chipset block.
Actually i should be saying its ABOUT FRIGGIN TIME. And that SB cooler looks like a evercool. AHAHAHAHAHA i guess DFI street spaming that cooler actually made DFI look at it.
The board looks great, and it looks like a great OCer if it has DFI's name to it. But i for one wont support it after what the company did to DFI STREET. I learned my basics in overclocking on that forum, and i really valued angry's advice on tweeking my SLI-DR -> Expert. But when they cut off that forum, they also cut off me as a customer. For now cant say anything matches EVGA's advance Lifetime RMA tho. Whats the warrenty like on that board??
-
 That looks a lot like one of my old asus boards!
Not sure what company that board comes from, but i'd sure like to know what kind of things their employing to be able to apply paste THAT bad!
-
Resultsssssssss plzzzzzzzzzzzzz :):)
-
very nice.. :) retail pictures at last.. :)
hahahaha :D

its the infamous overheating unstable chipset.... until i dropped it under water, which made it rock solid.... EVGA 680i rev. A1

we r waiting andrew ... :P

DFI were right to drop the contract on DFI Street. The Street still exists as much as it ever did under a new name.
You don't go bad mouthing the company you work for, unless you don't care that you could be out of a job.
I don't agree with a lot of things my company do, or the company whos services I represent through the company I'm actually contracted to. Yet they pay the good wages I get and when they say jump, I say how high?
If I do have a problem, I feed it back through the right channels, not go making it public or known to anyone it shouldn't concern.
-
excuse me, mekrel...what the heck are you talking about?
-
Sorry, forgot the put the quote in - didn't want to press the quote button and get the image in too.
-
this is sweet, I hope my tuniq fits on this with that NB cooler... if it does this is my next mobo.
-
Yeah the NB cooler may be a problem for large air sinks, problem is you can't put it any more closer to the PCI-E slots due to the GPU too.
-
i have my doubts about the Tuniq fitting...if it does, i would bet the HS would touch the tuniq HS.

and yeah EVGA board kills RAM .. i dont see a DFI thread with 200+ posts about people who got their RAM fried by 1 DFI mobo
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=124383
any DFI board killed more RAM than this board??
u dont release a mobo and kill people's RAM then replace their board ... that is call beta i believe, and yeah early adopters b4 A1 revision r beta testers who paid EVGA, XFX, BFG to be a beta tester
as far as my concern EVGA's board sux big time ... killed my OCZ RAM
i got a P5W DH died on me , too .. but it didnt take the RAM with it .. which is ok
back to topic:
omg GTL voltage ... its gonna oc quad core well
-
hey andre looks great man
thanks for sharing :toast:
-
Very cool Andre, can't wait to see results !!! :D
-
sweet it fits !!!
wtf is GTL voltage ?
thanks andre
-
yup...NB almost touches the tuniq...my trusty eye ball is getting off calibration in my old age:)
-
i love the volt options :)

Small Test
2.42V DDR2 1200 4-4-4-12 Dual 32M FSB 400
http://www.iamxtreme.net/andre/DFI-680iLT/48.JPG
-
here we go
don't forget single 32M runs at 3.6GHz for reference so we know where this board is at SuperPI performance wise :D :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:
-
How much will this board be in UK? If under £200 then i'm definatly getting one :D
-
Shouldn't cost more than £200, >£150~£175 more likely
-
-
For me it's a toss up between this and the P965-s DARK from DFI. Which ever has the highest performance numbers at a given frequency and highest overclockability (not talking FSBx6) at a high multiplier will be the one I get.
It looks damn sexy though, prefer these colours to the Ultra-D yellow.

andre how bout quad core overclocking?? i would love it if any none reference board can oc better than the reference ones
and yeah P5N32 E SLI PLUS is no bettter either .. set 1.58v .. getting 1.49v

cool .. cant wait
wow 500fsb .. that beats most of the 680i board ... ill prolly get it when i pick up Q6600 in Q3 when it drops to $266
-
Sweet looking board and very impressive results.
+2 for dumping the hard mounted com and lpt ports!!
I may have to reconsider my position to NEVER buy anything engineered by nvidia again.
Will hold off for long-term stabilty and all-around quirkiness results though ;)
-
dont forget kiddies this isnt a retail board.
this is a sample board...
-
looking good :)
thanks for sharing

I really like that northbridge heatsink.
Definitely innovative right there.
Im sad however that they moved away from nippon chemcon caps to nichicon.
Andre, do you know why they are moving away from nippon chemcon KZG type caps to cheaper nichicon?

I don't know about caps changed. Maybe it's cost down and save price.
-
Thanks for pics n results Andre. Board looks sweet too.
Although i seriously feel DFI should give a thought to changing their color scheme now.
Maybe we see something interesting in their upcoming boards ???
Oh and btw just a small doubt, how much of an important role is the BIOS going to play here ?
Sorry for the dumb question :P

the thermalright NB heatsink is pretty cool

Does the included heat pipe cooler really work, or is it just to show off?

Worked perfect. If I use original heat sink, it would be hard to oc FSB 500. NV C55 chipset is too hot.

For color question, DFI told me AMD LP series used yellow and Intel LP series used orange.
I have no idea about BIOS. That is Oskar Wu's secret. He always produced excellent BIOS to us.

What size of fan can you attach to the heatsink? It looks to be like a 40mm? 60mm?
-
Excellent Pics Andre! Thanks for sharing this.
I like the layout and that NB heatpipe cooler.

Oskar Wu has really made some excellent BIOS no doubt about that. But with Intel and the MC not on die, wouldn't it be kinda difficult to make killer BIOS like there were for NF4 DFI series ?
Pardon my noobness :p:
-
it looks like a xbox 360 :) box
-
nice results there!!
what are the temps like?I'd love to see a quad oc on that board too but it's looking good there even though we've waited a long time for it and there were rumours about DFI not making a 680i board anymore
-
gonna wait for some more results before going fo the dark or this one...
-
-
Awesome!!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing it :)

I think everyone's been a noob before gathring a lot of knowledge and becoming a pro so as ar as the noobs go i think we've all been there and are still learning from the best of the old NOObs

ok that was not my point...the point was that since this is most mobo will certainly be really expensive that will keep most noobs away from it.
but i do get that you mean we all have been noobs when we first started to get into computers.
-
SuperPi Performance ?
36GP ?
-
i love the northbridge cooler.
finnally someone didnt use a heatpipe that goes 3 times round de cpu socket connecting sb, nb and mosfets along the way. its nice, clean, low profile but efficient. way to go DFI :)

500MHz FSB is great man
what is the highest FSB that chip did on any motherboard you tested so far
reason i ask is if that chip is capable of 550 on P965 for example there is still a bit of improving to do and may not be a flash of a result but nonetheless looks great...............best i could get out of eVGA 680i was 500MHz 1M SuperPI LOL

Finally looks like we have a 680i with a solid chipset cooler. Thanks for sharing. It's a tempting board. BTW anyone looking for the DFI forum can find it here:

yep the chipset cooler in this DFI board looks to be way more practical than these heatpipe contraptions on nf680i boards.

When I compared performance of asus striker and P5B DLx (c2 rev.1.04)in cpu tests P5B is to beter then striker, but is this same with dfi ,or 965 chip is still beter for sp1m,and other bench program?
-
The NV 6xxi based boards are slightly faster in games and 3D benches from all the reviews I've seen, the P965 slightly faster at pi type benches
