What are the requirements for becoming an X.I.P.?

So, what would I have to accomplish in order to become an X.I.P.? I've seen many X.I.P.'s with small post counts and some with huge post counts so I'm going to assume it has nothing to do with that. Really, I just want to become more involved.

Thats what I've been thinking, but I just wanted to know if there was anything specific.

You should unedit youself. I'm curious about what it takes to be a legend also. I just thought I'd take it one step at a time.

2. A demonstrated patience and reserve in dealing with disagreeable people.

I was teasing.
I will tell you this: I don't think anyone that was ever made a XIP went looking for it or expected it. I know I didn't. I was doing "my thing" in DC just trying to help and was shocked when they told me.
I also questioned whether they'd been drinking that night but thats another story.:D

i wouldn't want to be an XIP, the i'd have to decide which color i want to stick with :p:

It's not that I'm looking for it as much as it is to satisfy my own curiosity. I was under the impression that it was based on post count, but now I know better. It would be nice to be able to help out enough to get that kind of respect from XS as a whole. From the caliber of people on here, it would be a privilege to be included in the XIP group.

Try and get a copy of Lost Horizon(1937) or Lawrence of Arabia(1962)
Lost Horizon has missing minutes where all you get is sound.
The nitrates they used in making the film corodded the film over the years and in some cases they opened the film reels and found just dust.

I thought X.I.P. was reserved for people with contacts in the industry...those who can bring us real, solid and trustworthy details on still-to-be released gear (subject to NDA)

These people also generally "have a clue" :D

Legend: the absolute bombs of overclocking, but who'll also take the time to answer questions and help others get the scores

Anthony Quinn you won't beleive as an Arab and

Omar Sharif!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think i have seen parts of this movie on TV few years back (when i was 14-15),,,,,,,,,,,,,, usually they broadcast that movie once a year (both English and Arabic versions at the same time) ,,, i think i will catch both this year

I believe that is a factor to. Like the XIPs with little post counts, they are XIP because they work for certain companines. Like I know Jakup is with evga.

To make things simple, lets put it this way:
If the admins think you should be an XIP, they can make you one ;)

Hell yes I would! Let me tell you this quick story: I worked for a locally owned auto parts store in West Palm Beach for 8 years, the first year I worked there just to "prove" myself to everyone, and then I realized to myself that I am better and more confident with what I do here then the freaking manager (who was my neighbor at the time:) ) After going the first year and not getting anything close to a raise in pay, I went to my manager and said, WTH, i've been here a year, sell over $62,000 worth of inventory a month alone, I get no commission, and my base pay is terrible, what can we do? To become a XIP shouldnt be your goal when posting at XS. Your goal should be to help as many people out as possible and contribute useful stuff to the community. The XIP title can be seen as some kind of thank you for your efforts.
And apart from the blue name, nothing really changes, so dont overdo it :)

Very well put. The only thing I would change is the word reward to a Thank you from the staff for helping. That's how I saw it.

Wow. Some of you misinterpreted what I was asking. I thought it was some sort of dues thing. If you paid you were an XIP, and got privileges of some kind. Like private forums and stuff like that. I just wondered why there were so many different colored names is all. I'm not looking for anything other than information about something I am interested in, and sharing what little knowledge I've gained over the years. I just thought XIP's got to be more involved and seemed to know one another. All I guess I'm really looking for is a way to contribute as much as I can, and I thought you had to be an XIP to do so. I have learned more in my short time as a member of this forum than I've learned in 2 years at my job. Now I know all I have to do is post to contribute, well post relevant info and not crap. I'll try to keep the crap threads to a minimal from now on.:slapass:

Pretty much, share info, don't flame, hang out, take and give the verbal exchanges with a grin, and if you are promoted, cheers, if not, well.........maybe in the future.

It seems the ones that become XIP, usually don't know it, till the rest of the forum does ;)

for the most part a mod is in just one or a few sections were a orange mod is in all sections just like a admin except only mod jobs not all the :bs:

XIP just means you're at least semi intelligent and don't cause "problems". If you get a message on AIM/MSN from a super mod saying you're on the verge of being perma banned, you can basically forget about getting it :p:

Also, XIP has nothing to do with overclocking or benchmarking.

They seem to like the XIPs to conform and not really disagree about things at all in general, it is very easy for anyone to take a disagreement (like the XS PSOM discussion of ST560ZF/OCZ 700wGX) where perkam and I disagreed on a few things, yet I ended up buying a ST560ZF(and it rocks), and later a ST850ZF(and its amazing) and perky bought a OCZ 700w GX. How ironic?

Yup, common misconception....XIP is a the equivalent to an "XS VIP"....doesn't have to be a WR bencher, that's what most Legends are (and the easiest way to become a Legend). XIP can range from a long-standing member, to a manu rep, to an up-and-coming great bencher we'd like to recognize, to someone with great connections and market insight, to a friendly personality that's just easy to get along with and everyone likes :)

Huh? XIP can disagree all they want. We ultimately pick people we like and in the end that results in a group of people that tend to agree, but there's NOTHING saying they have to agree.

Whatever disagreements there were between you and Perkam have nothing to do with XIP....

Kind of like our "National warning system" you know magenta is worse than mauve...that sort of thing...Then we can debate on what the best color is:wierd:

blue(bright colored) is XIP
the dark, blood type of red are for xtreme crunchers (distributed computing people)
black is mods
orange is supermods
green is xtreme legends
red is admins

I think it has something to see with the folding ?

Damn, i gotta get into this as well. I wana help. I have a X2 4800+ set-up with a 7800GTX and 2GB of Corsair 3500LL Pro just lying around that isn't doing anything. I'm sure it could be used to help out finding cure to health disease.

I don't hate anyone..Ok, yes, I do..The spammers that hit the forum at 4am when they think everyone is sleeping.
Those scumbags I enjoy banning and I tease the hell out of them.

The only other people that bother me are the fanboys that invade others threads but I don't hate them.
I feel sorry for them, that they can't see that AMD and Intel both make good parts..and bad ones..That each company will have it's day or year in the limelight and most of all: That WE need both companies to be sucessfull.
The last thing anyone would want is just one of them around or it would be no R&D, and prices like back in the late 90's..

The last thing( on a roll now) I'd like to see is people come in here and think of each other as friends..That's how it should be.
