Can people share their results with these sticks?
From what I have heard, they are supposed to be highly binned, D9GMH sticks. I have a pair on the way and would be interested to see in fellow XSers overclocks.
Thanks,

From what I have heard, they are supposed to be highly binned, D9GMH sticks. I have a pair on the way and would be interested to see in fellow XSers overclocks.
Thanks,
The 2 sticks I had did:-
550-2-2-2-5-1T @~2.4V
727-3-3-2-5-1T @2.475V
830-4-3-3-6-1T @2.3V
933-4-4-3-7-1T @2.15V
1000-4-4-3-7-2T @2.15V
1200-5-4-4-8-2T @~2.4V
These settings were all tested using the Windows version of Memtest (I've had issues where the DOS version has passed sticks that weren't stable). They might do more but my board gets flaky over 600MHz.
Jokester
Edit: Voltages added
I see. You running on an AMD platform then?
Those results look promising.
Nope, using a EVGA 680i board with the RAM unlinked, some of the settings lower down (especially the 2-2-2-5) took a fair few volts ~2.4 to get stable and run hot so you would need a fan over them at least.
Jokester
Pretty sure he's on 680i.
Sticks here run 495 4,4,3,8 2T @ ~ 2.15v memtest stable
534 4,5,4,8 2T @ 2.30v Orthos stable
and 590 FSB 5,5,5,8 2.4v (tho may go lower) Pi32m stable
and 600 FSB 5,5,5,8 2.4v pi 1m stable.
All run 1:1 on P5B vanilla. With a better clocking board (ie 680i/RD600) ram will run much better.
I see. I was confused by the 1T/2T but then I remembered the 680i allows for the change.
Well, results are looking good, thanks guys.
If anyone else has any more, please do post! A search doesn't reveal much useful info.
These sticks are sick, it's only too bad you can only buy them at Crucial's site now:(

good news is except for the heatspreader they sell the same modules as ballistix look for pn# ending with 12864aa663. make sure they are the ones rated for 1.8v the ones rated 2.1v and 2.2v are not as good imo.
Overclockers UK still have them in stock.
Jokester
Is there anything different between these sticks and the regular Ballistix besides Heatspreaders?
Are they both D9GMH with 6 layer PCB?
read two posts up the only ones that are an exact match are the ones with 1.8v but the tech said the ones with the same #s 12864aa663 were the same ics so as far as i know the anniversary were binned for low volt. and some sites listed them as 2.2v? never did figure that out. i will say it is the most stable reliable ram i've ever owned (and i'm going on 40). stable over 1000 is possible with decent vdimm.
That's interesting. I recieved my sticks and don't have a platform yet to test on. That's coming Jan.
Your dead right, overclockers do have them in stock Here:Quote:

I am not sure but I think they only come in 2x1GB, however I could very well be mistaken.
Pretty sure its 2*1gb only.
Could try and find 1GB kits of Ballistix which is supposdly the same/similar IC's?
i posted the #s above for the equivelent sticks the tech there (@crucial) said the numbers are based on the ic so as long as the # is the same ,same stuff.
and on a side notethe person i dealt with was awesome... i had 1 stick that didn't boot @ default voltage anymore and was trying to buy a new one. he asked me what was wrong with the other and i told him i was clocking it with 2.4 or so vdimm and when i went back to regular vdimmone stick wouldn't boot but passed memtest fine @2.2 or above(1.8 is default on my sticks some are set @ 2.2) he told me that if both sticks were in and only one was affected it was a bad stick and gave me an rma# i reminded him i overvolted and would just be happy if he could sell me a new set since newegg wasn't stocking them anymore. he said he would give me an rma because he would not promise they could get me a new set.then he told me about the other sticks. they sell the same sticks as ballistix and as regular sticks with no heatspreaders.
crucial did me a favor and i will buy much more ram from them in the very near future (like two weeks lol...new build for gf). sorry sometimes i ramble when i get up in the a.m.
Nice to know, I will check out those ballistix right now, as I want to run 4x1GB of this stuff, but most sites aren't selling these anymore. I guess I'll just get the ballistix if the price is right. Thx.
EDIT: Here's a link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146567
Hey Jimmy, that's sound like I want might too, if the price is right.Quote:

EDIT: I am looking over the Crucial site now and I see the some of the 1.8V RAM without heatspreaders is actually more expensive than the Ballistix (speced at the same speed at the Crucial store):
http://www.crucial.com/store/partspe...2KIT12864AA667
http://www.crucial.com/store/partspe...2KIT12864AA80E
actually bofors here is what you want:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146567
they are not listing the ones without spreaders on their site right now but the ones you linked to are cas 5, and the other link is fo 6400 this link is the same ics as 10th anniversary sticks.
So the Anniversary sticks are the same as the regular New Egg Ballistix 667's? Wow I thought there was something unique about the anniversary sticks. Weren't they handpicked? Or is that a myth?Quote:

I got lucky? I am probably going to order some more of these from NewEgg, so I guess I will find out. I am really happy with this RAM, I had just sent 8 sticks of Corsair 5400UL back to NewEgg when I ordered it.Quote:

I think you got some exceptional sticks. Anandtech's did CAS 4 at DDR2 800 (2.1 volts)---> http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2790&p=5 , but that doesn't mean other D9MGH won't d do 3-3-3-X at DDR2 800 (check out his review of the TEAM PC8000's.)Quote:

the set I had did 500 4-4-4-5 @2.4v on evga 680i
My 10th DDR667 were just bought from an online store, so defenitely not handpicked and I run them DDR800 at 2.25v, so it really doesn't matter if you cherrypick them, I am sure 95% will do DDR800 without even adjusting voltages.
he means the special editions are handpicked at the factory and binned higher than standard production sticks.
I run mine at 400, 4-4-4-12 2.1v. I have had them at 500, 5-5-5-12 2.1v, but I like the tighter timings.
http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/3916/666lolxh3.png
That was done with 2.45v, daily use is 500 4448 2.2v. No memset tweaking, just BIOS.
Blknoel Some nice results there dude, a friend is planning on ordering a set soon :) Seems like all these sets are performing great. The UK store that everyone gets these from has around 25 sets left as my friend called yesterday to check. :slobber:
I'm in the UK but I got mine from the US for $230 lol, now it's £210 in the UK, essentially price has doubled.
My set work this:
http://i80.imagethrust.com/t/680866/1mmax.jpg
This is 2,51V
Normal run: 600MHz 5-5-5-5 2,25V
:)
Updated, decided to mess around with memset, inspired by Madness's result. Then I orthos blended it for another 2 hours before I got sleepy and stopped.
2.3v vdimm --> daily voltage, I don't want to exceed this =P

Any recommendations on how to improve (timings to go higher/tighter) ? I will experiment on my own of course but advise appreciated =)
2.41v
http://drunken-student.co.uk/pics/pc...m_5-5-4-11.JPG
Same 2.41v, get 2 or 3 errors per 100% of windows memtest though so needs a little work!

.....damn @Highland3r....thats really sweet:D
Got myself some 10`th anniversary too, will try some later on my P5B E Plus.
Any advice for the subtimings?
......soo nice man:cool:
EDIT:...you need to clean up youre innbox, youre full...
wow, I cant wait til I get my RD600 to test mine in, very impressive.
I got mine for 250.00 from newegg. I was randomly checking and found 1 set.

Dual 32M pi/memtest stable @ 600 5,5,4,8 2.31v which is a decent 24/7 voltage. Not quite as good as some members have been getting with this kit tho!
<edit> Dropping to 5,5,5,8 timings @ 630 FSB still seems to give some errors in memtest. Not sure yet if its a board limit or a ram limit. </edit>

Im pretty sure it's 266 rated (PC2-5300) :P

Got mine today. ;)
Still waiting for hdd to arrive.
You can buy from overclockers.co.uk, but it's rape. I think the conversion to dollars from their 170 pounds is like $330 dollars:( You'd be better off getting some crucial 1000, or G.skill Hz. I have a set of this stuff, and want to run 4GB very much so, so if anyone wants to get rid of your set, please PM me.
got mine today as well

5-5-5-15 with 2.25 volts
^ Those are some nice results.
I still haven't got a platform for mine... it will come soon though. Can't wait to fiddle.
I have question: Exchange from Crucial Ballistix @ 1220Mhz 5-5-5-15 2T to Crucial 10th Anniversary.
It's good idea or not ?
I'd say stay with what you have. Some 10th Anniversary don't clock worth a damn, and I personally would not risk a sure thing like DDR2-1220 CAS5 for something else that would likely top out at the same clocks, best case scenario.Quote:

Does a shop sell them still? I love these sticks, but i can't find them.
Newegg just sold off a few kits last week, but other than that, no. I got a kit, but they're in a different state right now. Hopefully I'll start testing them next week.
Today one of my crucial ballistx die :(
Stock voltage, stock timings - reason unknow
Now i'm waiting for crucial AE :)
im in the uk and im going to be ordering my new system next week which will include p5b deluxe and an e6400. I was set to get
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA804)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MY-090-CR
but now after reading all this it seems like the 10th anniversary edition are the way to go.
Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Tenth Anniversary Dual Channel Kit (TY2KIT12864AA663)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MY-085-CR
But what I dont understand is the above are pc2-6400C4 and the 10th aniversary are PC2-5300C3 i was under the impression that 800mhz ram was the way to go for overclocking the c2d. I am a complete newb when it comes to all this so please be patient :) I can get either the ballistix or 10 th anniversary for the same price £199.74 inc VAT so which ones would be the most stable and provide me with the best overclock ?? Heres what my complete system will be. Should also probably mention that I would like to overclock to about 3.6 ghz if its possible.
Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13ghz - Skt775 Fsb1066 2mb Cache Boxed
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA804)
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Corsair HX Series 520W Modular PSU - ATX12V v2.2 APFC
Arctic Silver 5
thanks for any help and advice
i should pick the 10th anniversary if you look in this thread..
I have one question, does someone knows which chips the Crucial Ballistix tracer(with leds) pc5300 uses? And do you know this for 100% sure?
I can get these one cheap here in the netherlands, and i THINK these have D9GMH, but i'm not sure..
Ialso have the 10the Anniversary the Sticks work whery good on Asus P5b dlx but now i have for a test a Asus Striker Bios 0802 Beta. The Board is only working with 1 Stick 1Gb.

The Crucial 10th Anniversary is what any customer experiences with those sticks, and they were sold in US for a lower price - ~$225. 'nuff said.
I see some small I-logicalities with your sys:
If u want Extreme 90%ish OC, I would get E6300 and Tuniq.
If u want higher Mhz - the E6400 would give u that, with cheaper Heatsink. The C2Ds are very cool. VERY. and the Throttling features help a lot.
And the HDD is slow VS a raptor.
Not to mention the new 4xxx C2D coming soon, that may prove better after OC.
I would get E6300+cheaper HS + Raptor . 90% OC is really scary. and I believe you would do 60% OC for sure. But if u want to feel you did your best , than the Tuniq is good investment. And put some cooling for the RAM.
My Crucial 10th Ann. died after 3 months at 500MHz with active cooling @ 2.35V. :(
Great while they lasted.
Ouch 2.35 volts will do it, I run mine 24/7 @ 2.10 volts @ 420 4-4-4. They maxed out on a DS at ~1085 @ 6-6-6 @ 2.4 volts though, maybe the incoming 650i will coax 1100+ out of them.
They are Micron D9GMH and stock voltage is 2.25V, so 2.35V is not really very much considering I was using active cooling and this was on a PB5 Deluxe which has voltage drop problems.Quote:

Also, it was only one of the sticks that started to have problems. Some days it was fine, other days I had to pull it to boot.
uh oh. i've been experiencing the same thing where after a failed overclock, the board won't boot until i remove 1 stick... hopefully it's just a board thing and not the mem
I replaced the board (PB5-D) thinking it was the board. I then tried a new power supply and video card, turned out to be the ram...Quote:

Funny thing was that it would run MEM86 just fine, and SuperPI too, but about every 4th day it would crash. Sometimes it would reboot just fine, sometimes it would not boot until I pulled the bad stick of ram. The times that it rebooted fine, it would often then not run SuperPI and would later crash again during BF2142. I would then pull the ram and leave it out for a day or so, and put it back in, and would be fine for a few days...Strange.
I just got Ballistic 800 Tracers and I have no problems so far.
I have a quick question. Is there any difference buying this ram in packs like 2x1GB or buying them separately 1GB + 1GB sticks. It's still the same ram right, in terms of overclockability?
Matched pairs may have gone through more testing for compatibility at dual channel.
Do they even sell them in singles?

mem 2.25v,

I've currently got my Crucial 10th Anniversary kit running at 1:1 with my FSB, ie 471.4mhz, with 4-4-4-5 timings. Would I be better off pushing for higher clocks on the memory, or leaving it at 1:1?
the rule is that X MHZ = Y Timings . i.e Higher clock @ slower Timings = lower clock @ faster Timings.
The actual numbers vary.
You could use Systool or other basic benchmarking tool to get an idea, you'd better create a graph ( with 471 , small delta , big delta ) to get an idea what to expect.
The issue is Voltages. I heard that DDR2 doesn't like > 2.2V .
results posted here don't tell what happens over time.
please post results and data .
thx & GL
My Crucial 10th anniversary do 850 3.3.3.9 with 2.4v :)
Testet them some more 3.3.3.9 900 with 2.6v
4.4.4.4 1162.5 alsoo with 2.6v sweet
should mabe say that it is only 1m superpi stabel
One of my sticks died last night...never run over 2.3v in it's little life and it bawks....Getting Ballistix as a replacement.
I bought my brand new Anniv. modules individually on EBay this Spring. This company had dozens of Ballistix & Anniv. ram listed, selling them one by one. I bought two and they work fine in dual channel mode (but no chocolate ram module :(.
In fact, this are tremendous ram. They run stably at 1066 MHz with 4-5-4-4-12 timings with only 2.1v (maximum on my P5B m/b) with my maximum overclock of 533FSB x 7 = 3720 MHz. For everday use I'm 450FSB = 900 MHz ram @ 1.9v with 4-4-4-4-10 timings. They actually run fine at stock 1.8v at 900 MHz, but I raised it to 1.9v, as it probably won't hurt them.
My 4x1gb AE works really 100% stable on 1000mhz 4-4-4-4 on blitz formula, and needs only 2,14v, PI32M stable needs 2,10-2,12v :). Earlier on p5kdlx needs about 2,25v. Quite good sticks for 24/7 using.
One lost pair of these jewels arrived to me some weeks ago . So little time for testing , but a short run give me this . I need a better mobo :(
Just put in my ballistix 667 cas3 2.1v. These should be similar to the 10th anni's? May not be as "handpicked" but otherwise, should be similar. They're double sided so not the higher density ic's in the newgen ballistix. That said, I've just retired my old fav: buffalo firestix pc2-8000. The d9gkx treated me well, but it's been downhill ever since I owned them mid-last year. I've ran them with pretty much 2.06v the entire time, and they slowly degradated. At first, they'd do 500 4-4-4 2.06v tight subtimings. Then it required more voltage, so I settled for 450 4-4-4 2.06v. It did that fine, but now has loads of trouble booting up at stock. Or rather, on the dfi p965, stock is at 1.9v, so it even has trouble with that. Finally got tired of using booster sticks to get it going, so I threw in these cheap crucials, which I imagine are gmh.
Haven't really tested much yet, and don't intend on pushing hard for a while until I get my ip35e back from rma. But they are doing 450 5-5-5 2.06v fine at the moment (didn't think it'd have trouble, but nontheless)
not too bad :) mode1/1 fast/fast sure helps a lot. I'll settle :)Quote:

edit: should note that I've always had either a 120mm blowing, the ocz cooler, or a generic house boxfan blowing into the chassis. I've got a thermistor in the middle of one of the sticks, and readings never exceed the low 40's. That said, since they're only touching the heatspreaders and not the actual ic, actual temps are a bit higher, but still better than the 60's I see if I don't have cooling to the ram. Wonder if I'll ever have a pair of d9gmh/gkx that'll stand the test of time with 2.06v...
edit2: dropped timings down to 4-4-4-10 tight subtimings like before with the gkx and still 2.06v and it's run 15 test5's so far. Looks like a winner to me :):)!!!
