    Thanks alot charles!!!

i ended up going with the d80 and 18-70mm F3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom combo

    Thanks again

    Best regards disruptfam
  2. Hey, my pleasure. I think the d60 is fine. To me, anything short of a camera with full FX sensor is roughly the same. I'm using an old d70 and it does the job just fine. Get the body you like and don't worry too much about the specs.

Obviously the 18-70mm is going to give you a bit more range but when you consider the chip ratio, you probably don't need much above 50mm to shoot computers. The big issue comes down to how fast the lens is. Even if you're not shooting wide open (low aperture number) a "faster" lens will always be better than a "slower" lens. I think you'll be happy with the 18-70mm. If you've got an ample amount of light, this lens will work fine. It'll also be a nice lens to shoot outdoors with so it'll give you lots of value.

I would say that if you can get whomever you buy the body to throw in the 18-55mm then I'd go for that. I think it's a step down from the 18-70mm and at 70mm it's slower (f5.6) and that's damn slow for that focal distance.

The 20-35mm is a nice lens, I recently picked one up off Craigslist for $450CAN. It's what I've been using to take pics for the past month or so. They're not common but can be found with some persistence.

I shouldn't think you'll need anything near 200mm... unless you're planning to shoot man-eating critters.

I hope I have helped and not made things more confusing.

    Hey charles!!!

Thanks a million mate that helps me immensely,I was looking @ the 18-70mm lens and seems good for a starter.Ok i'm getting a tad confused on which body i should get i'm getting alot of different opinions. Some people are saying get the d80 it's in the same price range as the d60 and is the better body.On the other hand "other" people are saying get the d60 as the d80 is old technology now the d60 is the better bet.

    Back to lenses.

    The 1st lens you recommended

The 17-55mm f/2 lens retails for
    $1,500 in aus

A tad out of my price range at the moment.

    The 2nd lens

    The 18-70mm lens retails for
    $300aud

Which i can afford, would this be the second best choice?

    The 3rd lens
    The 18-55mm retails for
$125 also in my price range, how is this one of image quality? i would be better off with the 18-70mm?

    The 4th lens
The 20-35mm f2/8 i haven't found on as of yet.But again would i better off with the above lenses?

    The 5th lens
    The 50mm f/1.4 af-d retails for
$300 from that review you linked says it's a good lens for low light conditions which would come in handy, but not in every application.

Ok quickly reading through kens reviews...He highly recommend the 18-55lens for price/perf then the 18-200m vr lens and rates the 18-70mm at third.

Now....i'm abit confused again. Should go the lens's you suggested in the order you put them in or should i go the 18-55 -18-200m kit?

I want the image quality as you have with your murderbox pic's

Thank you very much for all the help mate !!!

    Best regards Disruptfam
  4. That's awesome Mate, that's a nice camera. For lenses I would say get the best you can afford. A lens unlike the body, you can keep for many, many years. I'll start by showing you the ultimate lens. This zoom lens would be all you ever need to shoot most things. It's not cheap but you can sometimes find one on the used market.

It's a money lens that will pay for itself over the years, tenfold.

If that's a tad rich for your blood then the next down would be this:

    and finally this:

Alternately, if you can find one of these on the used market, go for it!

You can supplement it with a Nikkor 50mm f1.4 and you're golden.

    Good luck Bro.

  6. Weston, that's an excellent idea, layout wise. Also, as you say, it might serve to balance the loop visually. I actually attempted that config before settling on the current design. The problem was that the space available to run the hose was very limited and would have required 2 elbows. Between you and me, I took a bit of a beating regarding the number of elbows in the original murderbox layout - I was determined to reduce the number here, hehe. There are already 4 - 2 you see and 2 on the rads. The other issue was that the hose would have come in conflict with the power cables going to the upper card. Ultimately I abandoned the idea in favor for the sweeping route the hose takes now. Personally I kind of like that the hoses are all on one side and the cables are on the other - it kind of gives a slight perception of order in what's really a very cluttered composition.

Weston, thanks for taking the time to illustrate your idea Mate, I really appreciate it. This community is awesome for so many reasons. Member giving their feedback is a huge one.

    Cheers,
    CHarles

    Hey Charles

The new murder mod looks great man. I was just going to drop you one suggestion on the tubing route. Maybe it would be too much work and maybe it would look dumb, but see what you think and let me know.

I feel like this would square off the design and kind of frame the hardware. It looks amazing though! I wish i had the dough for a sweet build like this one.
