Hi. Jewel Box project is awesome (haven't seen others yet )!
Hi! Unfortunately, I'm currently not using the IFX-14. My AW9D Max now powers a q6600...which is water cooled. I've got a xeon 3110 under my TRUE, but its in a case and probably wouldn't fit the IFX-14. So, I never did try that configuration. My experience make me a little torn about how such a configuration would perform. First of all, I think to yield any benefit, such a configuration must be on an open benching station in order to allow the air to diffuse away. As you say, the benefit is that both sides get "fresh air intake". On the other hand, however, air that passes thru the fins (especially with such hi powered fans) only changes the temp by very very little, so I think that benefit would only be small. The downside is that having the 2 fans blowing at each other is going to cause a lot of turbulence and may build up back pressure, or worse case scenario develop pockets or eddies of stagnant air. I feel that having fans blow in a laminar fashion does yield benefit. navig
Navig, I was reading one of your posts on the IFX 14 Heatsink and was wondering if you had a moment to try two fans on the outside both pulling from the center. In this config my guess is that if they are not pulling too much both sides should get equal cooling instead of the heat from the front going to the back heatsync. I have already ordered the IFX 14 and two Scythe 12cm 133.60 CFM but dont know exactly how I will use them yet...I am currently using a LANParty DK X48 and about to get a Xeon x3360 in (which is basically a more power friendly/less overclockable version of the QX9650) if I dont hear from you I will post what details I come up with. P.S. Thanks for all the details you put in your reviews; I always know that I am reading a quality review when I come accross one of yours. d2_ricci
