x-fi OEM microphone problem

recently i bought a x-fi extreme music oem from ebay

it works fine except that Flexijack port doesn't function with microphone

but according to the manul this 'flexijack' is the place that the microphone should be plug in

another problem is the speakers are always mute unless i untick the "automatically mute
speaks" option

it's not really automatic .....


though these problems don't really matter because I dont use microphone often.

but i am just curious

Has anyone got any similar problem when facing a oem x-fi or has any clue on what are these problems about???

My friend had a retail X-Fi where some of the jacks in the back stopped working for no reason other than just plugging them in. One day they worked, second day they didn't when he moved his computer. Had to RMA his card and all is well now.
