I am running an msik7t turbo w/raid(not using) and 640mgs of ram, a big azz heatsink with dual fans on a amd1700 proc. When I am folding and nothing else it runs at 52 to 53 degrees c. When not folding it stays around 47 to 49 degrees. The proc is unlocked and runs that hot no matter weither I am running at 1.45g or 1.65g what could be causing such a heat issue? Or is that fine

sounds like a crappy heat sink - is it lapped? are you using artic silver paste? what are you keeping temp measurements with? and what heat sink is it? and how soon before I get more of that salsa?

:) :)

well it is a coollink not sure of model but i beleive it is lapped, dual 7700 fans on it, did have a thermaltake or thermalright and it ran hotter. Basing heat off of bios and fuzzy logic I dont like mbm to keep heat temps it confuses me, umm as far as salsa when are you needing some??? and yes using artic silver2 i beleive

this is what fuzzy logic says

That doesn't look that bad when you consider the amount of voltage you're pushing through it. To get much farther than that, you'll need to start considering water cooling, tec, etc...
That's a decent o/c as far as I'm concerned.

is it possible to lower the voltage?

You want to run at the lowest voltage that runs your rig 24x7. Less heat that way.

Does that board read the thermal diode? If it does, sounds about right for air cooling.

i beleive it does yes, i keep a little fan down on the floor to help keep it cool

your temps looks good to me, if you want to lower the voltage you can do it in the bios but you might get some stability issue, so try it and if it's stable leave it that way

coolio i have it at 180 now and it seems stable 175 or 170 it was acting slow

What are you talking about? Is that the voltage @1.80V?

Attitudx

yes the voltage if i take the voltage any lower then it acts slow, but that could be that I am running a 250w power supply

higher voltage = higher stress on PSU

umm duh ok now i feel stupid but it seems the more i lowered it the worse it got. I will try to lower it I had it an amd1700 at 1879mhz @ 1.85v and it crashed not bad on pc133 ram LOL

What was your temp at that speed?
1.8V is good, you should see the temp going down by a few degrees. If it's stable leave it that way

at 1.8v temp was anywhere from 48 to 51 degrees

this is what i got with pcalert 4 at 12x145 i beleive running at amd 2000+ 1.68mhz
1.8v

Everything looks fine, as i said if it's stable leave it that way (it should be instable at that temp)
