I have had OCZ ram all my life. They have been great to me but I've fallen in love with another, and her name is Mushkin PC4000XP. My last love, her name was Platinum EB, she would only perform for me at 260mhz @ 1.7v, but Mushkin, she purrs like a kitten at 265mhz @2.6v. And right now she's giving me a lap dance:banana: at 267mhz @2.7v on Memtest86.:slapass:
Sorry OCZ but it's time I let go.

This is a lame statement man .. :bs:

Yes some ram can do that, but none down here in Oz. We get the dregg's of the good ram. You will very rarely here of ram getting even close to 300 here.
I spend weeks on this ram so I know thats all it was good for so it ain't no lame statement.

Too bad for you, you are gonna be missing out.

OCZ EB @ 269MHz here w/ 2.5v fully stable. Benchable 2D at 275MHz and 3D at 272MHz.

personally I think OCZ is a good company. That said I prefer Mushkin very much. And their latest batch of Redline 4000 2gb is KILLER :)

Yes I still think they are and I know ppl are getting higher on their EB's I think the set I got just didn't want to perform, thats all. I though I'd give Mushkin a go this time and they out performed my EB's straight away on stock volts.
Doesen't that tell you something?

Some people's EB's outperform your XP4000 using only 2.4v (0.4v below stock).

Overclocking is luck of the draw and also depends on binning, IC, and skill of the overclocker.

It's common knowledge that UCCC overclocks to a higher frequency but with more relaxed timings.

OCZ do a UCCC kit as well, and in my testing the XP4000 and GoldELGXT are the same in terms of performance/overclockability.

That being said, congrats on the new kit and I'm glad you're happy.

Wow you guys need to experiment more..
There is more than just OCZ, munskin, G.Skill, or Team.. There is an entire world or Ram that you can try.. Tweak them.. volt them... Play with them until you are finished.. and then pick up the next one.. and enjoy it even more.. in the safety and the knowledge that the other ram will never know, probably wont care.. infact they might even want to be tweaked together ;)

I know you guys are probably thinking Whoopdy :banana::banana::banana:en' do! but they are Memtesting now at 270mhz, so far loop 4, test 5 and still going good at 2.7volts.
:woot: It's a record for me, so hey let me have my

BTW whats the purpose of the Refresh Period (TREF)? I notice most ppl with this ram set it at 200mhz 15.6us or 0780. I had it at that at 268mhz even with 2.76v they puffed out, I changed it to 200mhz(?.?us) or 0032 and they going at 270mhz with 2.7volts.

I hope you realize that you are comparing different chips here. The UCCC on the Mushkin was likely to go higher all along.

I hope you tried to crack down on the timings on the EB. If you measure real-world application performance the EB at 260 MHz will come out better than the UCCC at 270.
