Well guys I talked a few days ago about a cold plate for my 6002 I said 5002 but that was wrong! I finaly got it done and took some pics to share with you guys!! sorry my camera is old so pics are not great! You can read the memory chip in the block but my camera will not get close up so you guys can read it!
I want to get a new one so if anyone feels like giving me 8 or 900 for a new one fell free!!! :D
The order of the pics are top, bottom(cpu side), side!!

nice what are the dimensions?

littleowl
05-03-2006, 05:36 PM
dimensions!!?? um well I was winging it but the cold plate is just a hair over 8 mm thick!

Mr. Tinker
05-04-2006, 03:19 AM
Why are those bolt-on holes in crazy places?

littleowl
05-04-2006, 05:46 AM
@ tinker the two outside bolt holes are for bolting the coldplate to the mobo and the two inside holes are for the swiftech socket A hold down! I counter sunk the holes in the bottom so that I can just add a washer and bolt straight up to the waterblock!! Nice tight press for the tec! :)

@ Nol here is your pic!! I don't have any as5 yet but I will be getting it tomorrow! :D

Looking good and massive at that! I'm suprised you really want to do mounting to the cold plate instead of the hot plate, now you'll need to insulate quite a bit more and insulate your mounting :(

Good job though, once I get some more time/money I'm going to mod these two 6000's I got for GPU's n CPU's.

If I'd ever go TEC, my cold plate would be to the coldside of the TEC:D Is that so supprising? It will keep loads lower.
What would be the use of a coldplate if you'd put it on the hotside?

What are you talking about?

What are you talking about?

I don't think he quite gets it. :stick:

@Jochenp - conventional wisdom completely insulates the cold plates in a sandwich that stacks up like this.

waterblock
hotplate
tec
coldplate
cpu
motherboard

With screws going through the waterblock down to the motherboard - but not touching anything else. To reduce conduction of heat/cold to places that you don't want it to go.

If your water block is >= in size to your tec then you don't really have to have a hot plate.

I couldn't come up with a better idea!! I would like to see other peoples ideas!! I had the block of copper but no idea how to sandwatch the tec between the waterblock and coldplate!! I have two options right now to mounting it!! that was the best way i could come up with though!! give me some sugestions please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No no littleowl, its a good setup, just your going to need to insulate a bit more. I suggest a few thick 5" x 5" squares of neoprene and just build up a giant block of em! :)

I would still like to see a few good pics of other 6002's and coldplate setup!!

Tommorow I'm going to think of some more designs and ideas for mounting tec's to 6000/2's. I honestly wish I had access to a machien shop to mill up some 70mm blocks.

Well guys I have been thinking of using the four socket A mobo holes to clamp on a TEC coldplate to a WB for some time.

I would make the plate universal kinda like the universal tops that are used on the white water, but not a top, a bottom. I would use the cold plate to mount to the mobo the same has here.

I have some experience casting alum but no way to machine it flat. I also considered using a 50x50 copper square set in the middle of this coldplate/adapter to deal with machining and improve c/w.

What do you guys think?

I already helped 2 friends of mine set up their TEC-setup, Im no tec noob:(
Only problem is that english isn't my native language and I got a bit confused realing NoL's post.

Not getting those 7 coldplates, its 1lb of material but minimum is 8lbs for them to profit. Hmmm if I buy though I'll have 7 more lbs of aluminum to work with?

I'll have pics up later for you littleowl, and no you have us all waiting on the coldplate results.

well here is an update! I am not a very good person when it comes to insulating the pc but it seems to work!! I did however have some trouble with the back so I added the thick pice of insulation you will see in the pic!! we will have to get it back up and going to see how it all goes!! one more thing to tell you about is cmos will not tell me the cpu temp! I don't know why! I can not get a reading from it but I can tell you I think it is very cold!!

ok guys here you go!! it don't look as bad. I have the insulation changed a little and I made a mess with di-electric grease.. I plan on cleaning up some tomorrow and running it to see if it will work like this but just to show you guys and :stick:

take a look

First off, zip ties and tec's.
No no, tec's are high current and any chance for a leak is a no no. Get some metal wormies at homedepot. Your insulation looks good, maybe add one more layer and have it partially sealed to the block.

littleowl
05-19-2006, 01:42 AM
I have the metal wormies your talking about and I had leak trouble with them! I went to using zipties and feared they would leak because of the little gap where they go together but have not had any leaking of any kind since!!

I plan on cutting the insulation that you see some and adding one more pice of the armaflex!
Thanks for your input nol

ok nol and mystic and everyone else that has read this!! :) I have some good news and some bad news!! I found my problem and got it fixed but in the process I now have another problem I have no idea about yet!!! windowz boots up really quick now but after about 2 min of running it just shuts down!! I will need to figure that out in 3 or 4 days!! first thing I know needs done now and may even fix this problem is I have to flash this bios!!!! we will see how everthing goes soon!!

05-22-2006, 02:04 PM
What are your temperatures? Do you have software that shuts down your comp if the temps get to hot? Could it be cold enough to have the sensor read it as very hot and therefore shut down?

littleowl
05-22-2006, 02:19 PM
bios is updated and running good now!! the problem from my thoughts on what I read was the bios I was running couldn't understand the temps I was running the cpu at! they added with one of the updates the a broader range of cpu temps!!!!!!!

littleowl
05-26-2006, 07:28 AM
ok nol just for a small test I overclocked the FSB to make the cpu run at 2.2ghz instead of 2ghz I re-ran the super pi program and it ran on the 1m 38s and the 2m 1min 27s and the 4m 1min and 11s!!! I am working on downloading the two you said to run!!

Anything else I should use?? mystic said prime95

ElDuderino
05-26-2006, 10:18 AM
I like using SP2004 (which is prime95 but more user friendly), OCCT (runs 30 minutes and is a good indication of stability), and superpi 32mb.
SP2004 (http://sp2004.fre3.com/sp2004exe_060405.cab)
OCCT (http://www.short-media.com/download.php?d=456) you will have to type in the text in the box so that you can download the program.

I have not got it yet! the link you gave me ELD does not work!! I did download prime95 yesterday!! I will search and get that one to try as well!!

ELD I like your new pic! :)

ok so I have been playing around with my pc tonight and here is what I have so far! I have ran 3DMarks2001 and got a total of 25505 then I ran aquamarks and got gfx-12567 and cpu-10579 for a total of 78855!! I ran super pi and got 38min on the 1m, then I ran 3Dmarks2003 and got a total on that of 17597
I have everything overclocked just a little! I am running external clocks at 2220mhz or in other words FSB!! I have tryed to go faster and I know I could but my memory will not seem to let me!! I know I could overclock it faster because I am still reading 00.0 on cpu at full load!!
I ran sp2004 for 45 min and got a error same goes for occt but occt is running right now with out a problem!! I did cause myself the wonderfull blue screen of death earlyer!!
