I got a question about hooking my computer to my receiver. My motherboard has a S/PDIF out jack. I would like to connect this up to my reciever. My reciever doesnt have a specific S/PDIF in jack but it does have a Digital In jack, would this work?

If you can fit a coax cable into that digital in jack, I'd say that's the one

I would suggest getting a sound card that supports Dolby Digital Live (Turtle Beach Montego, X-Mystique, X-Plosion). It just takes the audio signal and passes it through to the receiver in Dolby Digital 5.1 so the receiver handles all of the sound decoding ( = better quality and more FPS )

if he isn't going to being playing games, no reason to use an X-Plosion. And SPDIF/TOSLINK output is going to give bit-perfect sound.
